Disappointed
I opened up a high yield savings account online and put in money for it but 3 days later i was locked out of my account and was told to wait 3 days for my account to reopen and nothing. Then I called like 3 times and they kept telling me to wait 3 days. At this point I didn’t want anything with this bank and I told them to give me my money back and they told me 3 days it would be refunded and I still haven’t received anything. I’m super annoyed since I had high hopes but they just ended up taking my money. Till this day I haven’t received anything and it’s been more than a month. For anyone that wants to open an account, be careful because they will not refund you your money. This is what happened to me and I wouldn’t want this to happen to anyone else

Hurdles
If you want to prevent a CD from auto renewing, these people will make you jump through hoops and make it absolutely impossible. It is a deterrent, it’s a tactic and it is extremely unpleasant. They claim it as for security reasons, but that is dubious because I’m logged in with two factor authentication into my account and could provide another layer of identity verification online. Nothing special about the rates here, so choose wisely.

Transfer Fund
Transfer funds from my bank/credit union is very difficult using the Synchrony app.
Banking with other institutions is much easier and if I continue having problems, extend to close my account at Synchrony.

Synchrony makes it very straightforward to transfer money in and out. I just wished it didn’t take so long to reflect in the amount.
Syncrony used to be more competitive
I’ve been banking with Synchrony Bank for many years but lately they’re just not competing with other online banks as far as how much interest they’re gonna pay on their liquid accounts.
I really wish this wasn’t what situation but they’re forcing me to leave.

Seems I’m constantly having to call now because my phone number “isn’t valid” for verification use. It’s listed on my profile. It’s been used to send codes in the past 6 months. It’s a local number. Please fix this!! I’m sure I’m not the only one having issues.
👎 Tech needs improvement
I’ve used Synchrony and I’ve used Marcus for High Yield Savings Accounts. If Marcus is able to do same day transfers for withdrawals then Synchrony should be up on the technology to do the same. It takes MANY days to transfer the money back into my linked account for a withdrawal. Also, when making a deposit into Synchrony, it leaves my linked account super fast, but showing as available in Synchrony is taking just an unreasonable amount of days…and that’s interest I’m losing. Synchrony is way behind on these two aspects. Check your competitors capabilities and catch up!

Mobile Check Deposit
Mobile Check Deposit DOES NOT WORK. Will not accept perfect checks because “cannot read account information on the bottom of the check.” 99% of checks rejected.
Slow Funds Transfer
The only reason for two stars is that when I transfer money between this bank account and external bank accounts, the money is deducted from the external accounts immediately and takes five business days or more to post to my Synchrony account. I am using the transfer feature on Synchrony. I’m losing interest on that money for that time. However, when I transfer money from this bank to an external bank, the money is deducted from Synchrony immediately, and does not post in the external account for at least five business days. Again I’m losing interest on that money.

Enjoying synchrony bank!
So far I’ve had this account for about 5months and so far so good. I am able to put money aside and have it pay me in interest
App failed me again
Tried to do an inbound transfer from external account. App would not set the effective date. Gave up, checked that app is updated (it was, as is this Ipad)
Tried the developer support button. That lead down a non functional rabbit hole.

Easy to use and efficient
Impossible!
I tried three ways to deposit into my new savings account (routing from my bank, accessing my bank account to tie it to Synchrony, and a mobile deposit. All three were rejected. I can only imagine how difficult it is to access funds after they are accepted. Bye!
