Used Timeshifter for the first time to help with jet lag travelling from Canada to Vietnam, with a stopover in Istanbul. It was fantastic. I was the only one in our group who didn’t have jet lag upon arrival. Highly recommend!

worked!

I used this app and I genuinely had little jet lag on my return to Australia. I like the way it starts preparing you a couple of days out from your trip. It’s great value.

Only suitable if you can sleep during flights

Great premise, but fails to ask you the most important question, and then bases its entire plan on an assumed answer of yes: Can you sleep during flights?

If you don’t already reliably sleep through flights, don’t bother with this app. Its plan for you would be worse than just sleeping/eating earlier/later before your flight, like people have been doing informally since forever.

Oh, look what we have here, a marketing reply to my review. Sorry, but the fact remains: If you are changing time zones enough to want an app to help, then the app can’t ignore that fact that it is your sleep schedule that needs to adjust, and to adjust that it needs to explicitly account for whether or not you can sleep on aircraft.

Response from developer

Your plan asks you to sleep on both flights and avoid light in between. We round the timing to the nearest hour to keep it simple — your body doesn't run on minutes, so don't stress about being exact. Once you're in your seat, try to sleep as soon as you can. But if you're not a person who reliably sleeps on planes, that's okay — the advice still works. Sleep helps, but the real driver of the shift is avoiding light. Put on a sleep mask, close your eyes, and just rest, even if you don't actually fall asleep. Near the end of the flight, through the airport, and until you're seated on your next flight, wear dark sunglasses to block out light. On the second flight, same deal: sleep if you can, or just rest with your eyes closed and stay away from light. That light avoidance is doing the real work, whether or not sleep happens.

Perfect

Updating my previous review to say everything is perfect now. Just did a round trip with a 9 hour time difference and I had 0 jet lag

Response from developer

Hi Paul, I am sorry to hear that you experienced issues with the app. This is not a common behavior - please reach out to me using the in-app chat and help us troubleshoot so we can fix this.

The best for reducing jet lag

I’ve used the Timeshifter app twice now, two years apart. It was no fluke. Worked brilliantly to and from Europe. Issue settling back home. I really recommend it.

It worked

Timeshifter worked for a European trip 8 hour time zone difference. Jet lag was much improved and negligible.

It really works!

Used this for a trip to Italy which was a 8 hour difference, followed most of the instructions, I had very little jet lag. Coming back I didn’t really follow much and had lots of jet lag; totally on me but didn’t want to miss out on some things I would have had to. Bottom line, if you follow the advice, it works really well! I will be using it for future trips.

A Simple and Effective Way to Reduce Jet Lag

I used Timeshifter for a trip from the UK to Indonesia, involving a seven-hour time difference. As someone who works in performance sport, I understand how much international travel and disrupted sleep can affect energy, recovery and performance. Although this trip was for a holiday, I wanted to minimise the impact of jet lag and make the most of my time away.

The app was very easy to set up, and the plan was simple to understand and follow. I received two trips for free, after which there was the option to pay per trip or take out a subscription. As I do not travel internationally very often, I probably would not need the subscription, but the individual trip option may suit occasional travellers.

I do not drink coffee or take melatonin, so I mainly followed the recommended sleep and wake times and tried to manage my light exposure as closely as possible. The guidance was realistic and easy to fit around the journey. During the flights, I tried to sleep when advised, avoided watching films and read a physical book when I could not sleep.

Travelling eastbound usually affects me the most, but this time I experienced very few symptoms of jet lag. On the return journey to the UK, I felt ready for bed at the time recommended by the app, which also matched my normal bedtime. I did wake at around 3 a.m., but I would personally rather wake early and start the day than struggle to sleep at night.

What I liked most was the simplicity of the app. It provided clear and practical instructions without overcomplicating the science behind them. I did not find anything particularly confusing or inconvenient.

I would recommend Timeshifter to frequent flyers, as well as athletes, coaches and performance staff who regularly travel internationally for training or competition. It is a useful tool for anyone who wants to manage jet lag more deliberately and arrive feeling better prepared.

Works amazingly well

I have used it multiple times with the latest a trip to China from TN. Followed it about 80% and jet lag was very minor for about 2 hours the 3rd day here

Bait and switch with a false bug

Your first time use is a free trial. The instant flight times change and you attempt to change the schedule it will bug out with “these times overlap” and it won’t delete the original schedule so you remove the whole flight and it goes straight to “Pay for a subscription”

Jet lag- minimal to none

I was sceptical and heading to Europe the shift pattern is easier - returning from Europe the time shift started a few days before I left this could prove challenging for those who wish to holiday into the night and sleep in and then back in Australia the flight and sleep times were a slight challenge with the airline pattern for food and sleep -However I did the pattern and usually suffer terrible week long and more jet lag in Australia - however whilst still a bit fuzzy - that slight hung over feeling - the difference is phenomenal and I highly recommend if you don’t want a week of downtime and terrible jet lag or you return to work after arrival home - would definitely be using this moving forwards even if it means walking around the house with sunglasses on! To avoid light .

won’t travel without it

Game changer. Began using this several years ago and am an evangelist. I have negligible jet lag for my trips between the US and EU. I’m a poor sleeper on planes, but I’m strict about keeping my eyes closed and drifting occasionally into sleep and that seems to manage the job for me. This is primarily about light intake - do your best to follow that. As I’ve told the developer, I treat it like a game instead of a task-master. The results are beyond worth it.

I was dubious at first but this was a game changer!

Every time I travel across the Atlantic, I experience the worst jet lag. Last year I had to take sleeping meds to overcome it, and I was still exhausting during the day.

I heard about Timeshifter an episode of diary of a CEO so I decided to try it.

First of all, the app is absolutely beautiful, very sleek, and easy to use. I inputted my trip details and it gave me a plan based off of my sleeping habits and chronotype.

I flew out Wednesday afternoon, but started the time shift on Monday. With the help of melatonin, caffeine, natural sunlight, and specific sleeping and wake up times, I was able to follow easily the program.

Not only was I able to sleep really well in the plane, I experienced zero jet lag my first day in Paris and I was able to stay up until 8 PM and then have a full 9 1/2 hours.

On day two same deal, zero jet lag, lots of energy, and I slept 6 1/2 hours (which is not bad giving that it’s 40 degrees, no AC). I woke up, feeling refreshed and full of energy.

To this day, I still cannot believe that I have experience zero jet lag. This is an absolute game changer and I will get the annual membership to use this for all of my trips.

Thank you so much for building such an incredible products.

Fantastic app

It had been some time where I’d travelled through multiple time zones and I wasn’t sure how I would go with a jet lag. This app was recommended to me by friend and I will now swear by it for long haul International flights. I followed it pretty much to the letter and had absolutely no jet lag on either the end of the trip.

Worth the money!

I tell every person that travels about this app!

Poor customer support

It seems the only way to get any support is a chat box but I have been trying to get an answer from their customer support for over a week now and all I get is the AI response that “the team will get back to” me and their “usual response time is a day” which seems wildly inefficient. I got an answer to one question from a human being, but they did not answer my main question and because this is a chat on their website, I did not get any notification they had responded and by the time I realized it had been several hours and they never responded again after I followed up. So I tried starting a new chat and it’s been two full days with no response. I guess if everything works perfectly from the beginning you will have a good experience with the app, but don’t expect any support if you need help.

Worth the price

I used the free trial on my first trip to Europe. I was with a tour and enjoyed my first day with our guide, while most in my group slept on the boat around Venice.

On my second European trip, i had NO jet lag. I hit the ground ready to go.

For me, it's harder to follow on my way east/back home, but I still transitioned back to EST by my second day.

If you're traveling a few time zones, at least try your first trip free. Do the best you can with the suggestions. I think you'll decide to use it every (overseas) trip.

Definitely works

I had a very, very good experience with the plan this app produced for me. I am in my late 50s and have struggled mightily with jet lag the last couple of times I have traveled overseas. Using a Timeshifter plan as I left and returned from a month overseas, I had minimal jet lag at all. Highly recommend!

Push notifications didn't work

I really enjoy this app and have used it for 3 international trips. However I purchased the one time use version for my trip last month, and for some reason it didn't send me any notifications for my trip home! I was so busy I didn't notice until I was on my long haul flight home. I opened the app and it had a schedule for me, but I was never notified! I double checked that I have push notifications turned on still, as I got them before my trip departed. Really felt like a waste of money because I did suffer from jet lag quite a bit when I got home. Thankfully it was only a 5 hour time difference so I recovered after a few days. How can I make sure this doesn't happen on my next trip??

pleasantly surprised how well this worked

As a frequent traveller I have suffered my fair share of jet lag over the years. I used Timeshifter for the first time for trip from Vancouver, canada, to Iceland, onto Venice, with a return that took me back to Iceland, and back to Vancouver. I managed to follow the App’s suggestion as closely as I could and honestly suffered no discernible jet lag. I look forward to the continued use of this App to manage travelling across time zones. I must confess I found the results incredible.
