Won’t reconnect to Wi-Fi automatically
It’s ok when it’s connected, but when it loses connection, it never reconnects. I have to unplug it and plug it back in. This seems to happen every other day. None of my other items disconnect like this.
Detected arcing
Received warning from sensor about potential fire hazard. Upon having an electrician come out to investigate and coordinate with the Ting team they found the main connection at breaker panel was arcing and showing serious damage to main breaker.
Initially electrician and myself were expecting it to be a sensor malfunction due to whole home being required five years earlier. After being directed where to look and finding the problem electrician said he was very impressed and was going to look into it for himself. It had detected and prevented a potentially serious issue.

Installed Ting sensor two weeks ago in a 20 year old custom home. Within a few days, the sensor identified an arcing issue which could be serious. Ting notifications were excellent - texts, app notifications, and a phone call. Support was easy to reach by phone, very knowledgeable, friendly and supportive. After several days of testing breakers ( the issue was intermittent), they were able to isolate the issue to a handful of breakers (out of 2 large panels). With their encouragement, I arranged for an electrician to resolve - Ting support was on the phone with him as he investigated all of our HVAC connections. The electrician identified a bad breaker which was about to fuse to the bus bar. The problem (which I never would have identified until something bad happened) was resolved at a nominal cost and even covered by Ting’s warranty.
Bottom line - get one. And. Check with your home insurance company, they may even pay for it.

Service was first offered by homeowners insurance company (S.F.) and I’m quite thankful to have a sentry monitoring the aluminum wiring in a 1970s home. No problems found, but the system announces when power and internet outages are community-wide. Helpful information.
