Vivint service
This is the only company I have had where when I first signed up I was seriously impressed. I stopped services because they seemed to be out of sync with us. After being with another company, we came back to Vivint., The service rep really sold us a bag of lies…. when we first had this service, we knew when our power went out, how many people in our area it affected. When it came back on. When we had a tornado warning. This last time there was NONE of this. One of the only companies I’ve ever seen Work backwards be extremely effective and impressive at first and then just drop the ball. Sad.

DO NOT SWITCH TO VIVINT!
3 months into switching from ADT and boy was that a mistake! The app is always crashing, quality on their products is terrible, and customer service is worse! They’ll charge you for things without authorization and then lie about how their procedure is
Poor customer service
We were suckered into an extension of a subscription. We now have to wait 3 years when we were ready to be finished with Vivint. Don’t subscribe to Vivint!
No service technician in area
Hard to get a service technician in our area have to wait a long time very disappointed
Like staying on
Outside light constantly coming on when nobody is around and stays on, was told by a tech it would run up our light bill
Nice app for basic remote tasks.
This app is great for simple remote tasks but will freeze if you try reviewing camera alerts or live video.
Garbage
This app is garbage it never works. Takes forever to connect to my cameras. This service is worse than ADT.
Critical feature doesn’t even work
I’ve had Vivint a few years, the app has steadily gotten worse. The most important feature, video playback no longer works. It just gives the loading circle that never actually loads. For a while i had a work around where i could download the footage and just watch it that way, now that doesn’t even work. Last time i called for support they told me to update the app, which i did, and they sent a reset signal and told me it should work fine… nothing changed. I’ve had a few events i needed to review and i can’t. Also, doorbell live camera is hit or miss when someone rings the doorbell or a person is detected. Many times I’m unable to see who’s at my door and you can forget even talking to them…

I wish it was faster
Don’t really understand the purpose of notifications when someone is at the doorbell, because I’ll be in the basement when I get the notification and open the app to see/speak to who’s there and it will take too long to even load - by the time it does (or I quit and reopen the app) they are no longer there.
For me, this was sold as “the Ferrari of security systems” and I don’t think the experience meets those standards. Certainly not for the cost of what I am paying for this service, I feel a bit conned. It’s higher in cost than my previous system and it works half as good…would love to know what I’m paying for then

Video
Takes too long to show recordings and pauses too much!
So slow
Once I receive an alert, it takes the 15sec or longer to load to show me who’s made a delivery or rang the doorbell. Most have left or walking away.
So so
I’ve had this service for about two months and really had no problems until the last couple of weeks. But now the cameras are going off-line every day or two so I have to reboot everything frequently. but the worst part is that customer service doesn’t speak English well and apparently don’t understand it either. I called today, but I wasted my time.

App reliability deteriorating w/each update
I’ve had Vivint for a cpl years and the app had minimal bugs at the beginning. Now I struggle to reliably review the videos for detected vehicles, having a grey box for a thumbnail that doesn’t play, at all, and sometimes never even providing a video for an event even though I get a notification and recording is set to “on”— though recording of a person on the same camera is pretty reliable (99% video availability when detection notification comes through for “person detected”). Sometimes when there is a recording that doesn’t respond to being tapped to play I can get around the bug/failure by reloading the event screen and rapidly tapping the screen on the video I need to review to get it to play which only works sometimes, most times nothing happens or spinning icon shows and nothing plays **Update 7/2026 grey thumbnail gone but instead now sometimes there just won’t be any recording [yes it’s on] even though there’s notification of an event.**. Then there’s the issue of not reliably being able to deactivate/activate recording and notifications (failed command), like when being outside doing yard work and not wanting 50-75 recordings **Update 7/2026 far more reliable activate/deactivate but still happens occasionally**. There is also an issue now with my doorbell camera not automatically switching from IR to color which can be resolved by switching night mode on camera from auto to off and then back to auto, and many times get the “failed command” message. It’s like there are sync issues between the panel and the app or if it’s all done in a “cloud”, server corruption is causing the failures and video issues.
**Star reduction 7/23/2026: Update to add “detection boxes” seems to have created another persistent functionality issue. “Recording” vehicle activity doesn’t occur when I turn “Notifications” for vehicle activity off even though they’re independent settings. I still want activity recorded I just don’t want notifications. If viewing live feed when event happens, car pulls into drive, no recording actually occurs. “Events” shows “Today” instead of “No data to display” but no thumbnail/video to actually watch.

Upgraded and not a happy customer
Vivint app is the worst that I have experienced. It’s so delayed and cameras just keep buffering. This is not good when someone is at your door and you want to see who it is or speak to them. By the time you get it active, they are gone. Live feed takes forever to load. We ungraded our system thinking service would be better and it’s not.

App issues
I am often unable to arm my home from the app and when this happens it also doesn’t a like it should on the set schedule. Also when I get a notification from my doorbell it shows me the previous person in the notification pop up rather than the current person who was just at my door.
Camera system
The camera system sucks. The driveway camera rarely works. Reset it and in a week, it doesn't capture anything! The doorbell camera is the least expensive and the one that is consistent. Do better Vivint with going offline ALL the time! I want to switch to another company but have too much money invested with horrible service!

This App and the service suck half of the time I can’t use any of the features on the app, and the technicians that they send out are horrible they literally updated my system and didn’t even make sure everything was working properly, so I couldn’t use all the features on the app. Vivint really need to be ashamed
