a buggy mess

The Xplora XGO2 has been nothing but a buggy, stressful headache. If you are thinking about using this watch to track a child over home Wi-Fi without paying for a monthly SIM card subscription, DO NOT BOTHER. Even when it is on the Wi-Fi, it still gets stuck all the bloody time. The software on this device is incredibly cheap and full of glitches. For days on end, the parental Guardian app on the iPhone has been permanently frozen showing the watch at "0% battery" and stuck on a yellow "Refreshing..." loop, even though the physical watch screen says it’s sitting perfectly fine at 93%. Because the watch aggressively forces its Wi-Fi chip into a deep sleep to save its own battery, the app completely loses connection to the device and defaults to lying to you about the battery life.Worse than the battery glitch is the tracking. Because the watch doesn't have a SIM card to ping GPS satellites constantly, the map is permanently frozen in time showing that the watch is miles away at the last place it managed a brief handshake with a network connection days ago. It cannot track location on the move or on a bus because the software is too rigid to handle changing signals.Trying to troubleshoot the watch yourself is an exercise in pure patience testing. The locked-down Android software means you can't even change basic screen timeout settings to keep the antenna awake. If you try to fix the connection by manually re-entering the home Wi-Fi password, you have to fight an impossibly tiny on-screen keyboard where the "X" logo acts as a back button, meaning your finger constantly slips and wipes out the entire password over and over again. But the absolute worst part of this entire experience is the company itself. A private customer service ticket regarding an ongoing account issue has been completely ignored for over 8 days now. When you try to use their "Live Web Chat" for immediate help, you are blocked by a useless AI bot named "Felix" who explicitly text-messages you saying: "Chat with a human agent is not available on this channel." They hide their telephone number from their main contact page to avoid taking complaints, forcing you back into an email queue that they never reply to.The messaging feature works over Wi-Fi, but half the advertised safety features of this watch are completely broken unless you pay them even more money for a SIM data package. A multi-million-pound company should have servers and customer support better than this. Save your money, avoid the family stress, and look at a different brand entirely.
