Garbage App
Expensive and Sketchy
Response from developer
Thank you for the feedback. Location access is optional, you can decline it and the app works the same; accepting it only defaults your postal carrier for convenience, but it is not required. Our fees are per shipment with no subscription, and they're shown in full before you pay. They don't just process the paperwork, but also guarantee the duty amount paid so you and your recipient don't have to pay anything more, even when tariff rates change. We're here to help at support@zonos.com.
This is impossible
Response from developer
Thank you for the feedback. Duty amounts can vary between shipments because they're calculated from each shipment's details, and the Duty breakdown view shows exactly which tariffs apply and how the total was calculated. Our fees are shown in full before you pay. If something looks wrong on a specific shipment, we're here to help at support@zonos.com.

Thank you for the detailed feedback. On the photo requirement: photo capture is a requirement Japan Post set within the app flow, so it can't be turned off, but every auto-filled field can be edited after the photo is taken. If a field comes back wrong, you can correct it directly rather than starting over, and we're happy to walk you through that at support@zonos.com. On going back to a previous screen: once duties are calculated, we intentionally lock editing for that shipment to avoid gaming undercollection. However, we are looking at ways to make it easier to make edits before calculating duties, such as saving your progress along the way up until the duty calculation. Saving destination addresses is a fair request, and repeat shippers shouldn't have to re-enter the same recipient every time. It's the kind of friction we're working to reduce. We know the app adds steps to a process that used to be simpler. Feedback this specific helps us prioritize, so thank you for taking the time to write it up.
Unreliable
Response from developer
Hi Lopiken, when you ship something that is duty-free, there can still be a processing/clearance fee. This is always clearly shown before you click the "Pay" button (it's in the summary with the total duty cost, total fee cost, and the total cost, which is directly above the "Pay" button. The "Pay" button also includes the total you are paying). It will be clear anytime you make a payment, exactly how much you are being charged, before you enter your payment information. Duty payments made in the Zonos Prepay app are guaranteed (this is another reason for the fee—even on duty-free shipments, if something changes between when you pay and when we are billed, and duties become due, we pay that ourselves).

hank you for the feedback. Auto-filled fields can always be edited before payment, and we'd like to look at what caused the crashes that kept you from doing that. The Duty breakdown view shows exactly which tariffs applied and how your total was calculated. We're here to help at support@zonos.com.
?
Difficult to set up.
Response from developer
Thank you for the feedback. Setup should be a one-pass process, and we'd like to figure out what caused the freezing. We're glad it went through on the third try, and if the app gives you any more trouble, we're here to help at support@zonos.com.
Very bad
Response from developer
Thank you for the feedback. Manually entered HS codes do need to follow the standard format so customs will accept them, though based on what you've described, the classification step should be handling slow responses better than it did for you. We'd like to look at what happened, we're here to help at support@zonos.com.
Orange man make tariffs
A joke.
Response from developer
Thank you for the feedback. The duties themselves are set by US customs policy and are calculated from the item details you enter. Tapping "Duty breakdown" in the app shows exactly which tariffs apply and the formula behind the total, so you can see how the amount was reached. Worth knowing, carriers that don't collect duties upfront don't make them go away, the recipient is often billed on delivery instead. Commercial carriers aren't required to have duties prepaid the way that postal carriers are (into the US) - that just means that the recipient would have to pay it during delivery. If anything in your quote looked off, we're here to help at support@zonos.com.
Not working after update. Unknown errors
Response from developer
Thank you for the feedback. Are you still seeing the error when adding an item? If so, we'd like to get you shipping again, we're here to help at support@zonos.com.
Inaccurate Garbage
Response from developer
Thank you for the feedback. Trade agreement claims like CUSMA haven't historically been available for postal shipments, and the app doesn't yet support them, so duties are currently calculated without free trade preference. We agree this matters and we're actively working on adding that coverage. If you'd like us to look at your shipment, we're here to help at support@zonos.com.
Issues when submitting items
Response from developer
Thank you for the feedback, and I'm sorry this happened. We'd like to look into what's happening with your specific items. If you reach out to us at support@zonos.com with the items you were entering when the errors appeared, we can dig into it.
Some China items don’t work
Response from developer
Thank you for the feedback. Some item and origin combinations are subject to additional US customs requirements, which can affect how a shipment is processed in the app. Based on what you've described, we'd like to look at the specific error you received so we can either resolve it or explain what's happening with that shipment. We're here to help at support@zonos.com.
Should be illegal.
Response from developer
The US now requires import duties on postal shipments to be prepaid. Your post adopted this app so its customers can meet that requirement and keep shipping to the US. Zonos doesn't set US customs policy, the app exists so shipments aren't refused at the border.
If I could give negative stars I would
Response from developer
Thank you for the feedback. A photo is required because your post has made it part of the process within the app, but the photo only pre-fills your item details, and you can always edit those fields before submitting so nothing is declared without your review. If you're running into issues editing any of the fields, we're here to help at support@zonos.com.
Questions are not worded correctly
Response from developer
Thank you for the feedback. We'd like to understand which declaration questions caused confusion so we can improve the wording. Please reach out to us at support@zonos.com with the questions that felt unclear. We're here to help.

Thank you for the feedback and for letting us know. We'd like to help. Please email support@zonos.com with the device you're using and whether you're signing in or creating a new account, and we'll investigate right away.
horrible
Response from developer
Thank you for the feedback. Based on what you've described, it sounds like your parcel wasn't shipped within the 5-day validity window. When you complete a declaration, your card is only authorized for the duty amount, not charged. That authorization stays valid for 5 days while we wait for your parcel to be shipped. If the parcel isn't shipped in that window, the authorization expires and the payment is cancelled automatically. This is by design: it ensures you're never charged duties for a package that doesn't ship. If that's what happened here, your package hasn't been lost or affected, and you weren't charged. When you're ready to send your gift, simply complete a new declaration in the app before taking your parcel to the post office. If this doesn't match your situation or anything is unclear, we're here to help at support@zonos.com. Including your Declaration ID will help us find your details quickly.
