Mobile devices are a mainstay in today’s businesses and usage only continues to grow. Employees have traditionally relied on mobile devices to stay connected, but this has always meant that an employee has to distribute a separate phone number to ensure that business associates or customers can reach them when they need to be reach. This also results in management of multiple voice mailboxes which decreases productivity and increases the chances of a message not being heard in a timely manner. MLC (Multi Line Client) is a NEC proprietary SIP client that registers to your NEC voice platform (UNIVERGE SV9x00 and SV8x00) and enables your smart phone or tablet to act like your office phone. Providing a user friendly interface that NEC customers are accustom to. Make/Receive calls from your NEC Univerge SV9x00 and SV8x00 voice system over your corporate Wi-Fi network or use a VPN connection on your iPhone or iPad devices to connect over LTE and other Wi-Fi networks.

The clearest difference is rating: Cognisent 2.0 at 4.2 against MLC Mobile's 2.0. Cognisent 2.0 also leads on ratings volume (404 vs 38) and update cadence (every 3 weeks vs every 2 months). Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.
Cognisent 2.0 holds the better App Store score, 4.2 against 2.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Cognisent 2.0 has 404 ratings behind it against 38, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 13% of MLC Mobile's written reviews are positive against 9% of Cognisent 2.0's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
MLC Mobile ships an update every 2 months, Cognisent 2.0 every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 24, 2026 and October 21, 2026 respectively.
