Verdict
The clearest difference is review sentiment: ConnectUC at 61% against Verizon One Talk's 15%. ConnectUC also leads on update cadence (fortnightly vs every 6 weeks) and iOS requirement (16.4 vs 18.0). Verizon One Talk's advantage is rating (4.4 vs 3.9) and ratings volume (18K vs 97). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.
Verizon One Talk holds the better App Store score, 4.4 against 3.9. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Verizon One Talk has 18K ratings behind it against 97, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 15% of Verizon One Talk's written reviews are positive against 61% of ConnectUC's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
Verizon One Talk ships an update every 6 weeks, ConnectUC fortnightly. Both last shipped on October 30, 2026.
