On and off

We used the trial version for a week and now have switched to the premium version, it works well most of the times but then it gets frustrating at times when it cannot recognize a chord or a note when practicing and we have to manually move to the next note.

This is such a turn off - my daughter used to love practicing her piano, but now hesitates and says flowkey is frustrating.

I Recomend

I’m a student and can’t afford the paied version, but I got given an old keyboard and I know some music theory and I am a compentent guitar player, and the free songs were SO HELPFUL!
Also there are free courses, you should try those and if you like the format then buy the full version if you can. I personally loved how the songs were layed out with the “wait” option that listens to you play so you can get it perfect.
Most music apps don’t have free songs/lessons so appreciate this app. Deserves six stars!

Love my csp-170 and flowkey nice addition.

I bought a Yamaha CSP-170 one year ago. Started using flow key with free into offer. I have upgraded to premium last year after free intro and agin for another year. While the app is pretty expensive I have been using it every day. It does work very well with my piano and my playing has really improved over the past year. Now with virus stay at home, I will be using it even more. I suggest trying it and seeing how you like it then if you do upgrade to premium.

Sometime I just like to play songs on my iPad and watch how they are played. It had enabled mr to play harder songs that I could have without the app. I love love the live wait mode aspect. I noticed some one else not liking it. It works very well on my Yamaha CSP-170 plugged in thru USB port. I my Yamaha per-125 on a camping trip in my motor home. That didn’t work as well because it is too old to plug in thru usb. Have to use microphone function to “hear” the mores I played. It will miss hear some notes and slow down my playing but plugged it works very well.

Thanks a lot for your comments. It's wonderful to hear that you've been learning with us for quite a while already. Sounds like you really learned a lot with us - and I'm sure, your song repertoire will increase even more. Seems like you are very dedicated when you even practice while you are camping! And yes, the MIDI connection via cable (or even Bluetooth MIDI) is what we recommend in Wait Mode. It just works best. Happy practicing! And stay safe!

Great but...

Firstly you barely get any songs for free and the ones you do like imagine by John Lennon it isn’t even the full song, I know it repeats a lot but all the parts should be included even if they repeat, the end of the chorus is missing and also it is very expensive and well a lot of songs pianists would want to play are not on there 1500 songs is a lot but really I think there should be daily updates with new songs and members can request new songs and I would also like the songs to be finished, even listening to some they are not finished like Chopin Fantasia, that is almost 7 minutes long the recording definitely isn’t that long, otherwise it is an amazing way to learn new songs just a bit disappointing

Thanks a lot for your honest feedback. I'm sorry that the way we arrange songs wasn't what you expected. The beginner and intermediate arrangement are always shortened to match this difficulty level. And as you said, we also leave out repetitions. Still, I understand your point of making sure all song parts are included in the advanced and pro versions. We update new songs almost every week so the song library is definitely growing. And I hope that you'll find more songs that you enjoy learning with us.

Doesn’t work

I purchased the annual subscription and it doesn’t work.
Total waste of money.

I’m canceling the subscription.

I'm sorry to hear that Premium wasn't unlocked automatically. What you can do now is use the option "Restore Purchases" within the flowkey app. On an iPhone, please click on "My Songs" at the bottom of the screen. In the section "My Songs", please click on the cogwheel icon in the upper left-hand corner. A window will open where you can select "Restore Purchases" . On an iPad, you'll find the cogwheel icon in the lower left-hand corner when you enter the app. Clicking on "Restore purchases" will unlock Premium immediately. If the problem persists, please get in touch with our support team: support@flowkey.com

Learn at your own pace, plus the fact that you can jump around to where you feel comfortable but...

I like the fact that you can learn at your own pace and that unlike with music lessons you have to practice a certain amount of time everyday and I didn’t like that idea so learning at your own pace works for me. The only problem is the note detection from playing on the piano and the iPad hearing it from the mic. It seems to glitch every once in a while when i play two notes at a time i have to play them a couple of times in a row to get it to hear me playing. And at one point today when I was playing I played two notes and then the screen didn’t move on to the next section and I tried closing out the app and it was still happening. And I know it isn’t my iPad that is the problem because I just got this back in December and it is the bran new 2019 version.

As loaded for 7 days trial, didn’t ask customer which option price as approved.
Charged top price premium $195.99.

How can we refund the payment? Thanks

Response from developer

Sorry to hear that there seems to have been a misunderstanding regarding our free trial. When a user agrees to the 7-days premium trial, it will convert into the yearly plan unless the trial is canceled. Since in this case, the subscription was bought via Apple, this is what you could do: You can also click on the link "Report a Problem" that you can find in the email with the purchase receipt that Apple sent you. Alternatively, you can also call Apple support directly and request a refund this way. You'll find all of their contact numbers here: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201232 I hope this already helps. If you have any further questions, you can also get in touch with our support via email: support@flowkey.com

Definitely Recommend!

This is an AWESOME app! I would definitely recommend to anyone who plays piano and loves it! I also love that there are four different levels of difficulty:Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced, and Pro. I got the full version during the New Years sale and I have been enjoying it ever since! One thing tho...I had a piano that was out of tune, so It couldn’t detect which notes I was playing and I had to get a keyboard...is there a solution for that? Other than that, absolutely LOVE this app!

Edit: Just wanted to say you guys did a great job making this app and I think every piano lover should have it!

Thanks so much for your wonderful feedback! We're happy to hear that you enjoy practicing with us that much. You're right, so far the instrument needs to be tuned to 440 Hz in order to be properly detected by our app. We do want to find a solution for our users with pianos that are tuned differently. Though it's still too early to say "if, what and when". But we'll make sure to let our users know if there's a solution for it! And until then, I hope you can still enjoy practicing with your keyboard. :) EDIT: Thanks a lot for your compliment! :)

Love it!

Love this freaking app! I’m kind of addicted to it. We got a Yamaha piano p-45 for Christmas for our family, and it came with three free months of flowkey. I’ve been doing courses and songs every day. What a great combo. I quit piano lessons after a year in fifth grade. Never made it to two hands, and flowkey had me playing with two hands in a few days. Thanks!

Only feature I’d like is to have an option to see the entire song on the screen, and even print a pdf if copyrights allow. Sometimes it’s hard to remember which parts are coming up, and printout would solidify the song. But I do love the scrolling as a great learning method. Also buy a MIDI chord to recognize the notes spot on. The mic did good enough, but with the direct link I can play with headphones or a lot of noisy kids in the background and not miss a note.

Plz more anime songs

The app is extremely good and it was really easy too learn songs but I’m a weirdo and am obsessed with anime songs I was really happy that there was the attach on titan opening but after that there weren’t to many maybe like 2 more so I’m really hoping someone sees this and adds more but it still is a great app and I will continue using it for a long time 👍

Thanks a lot for your feedback. We actually have several users who are into anime as well. So I hope we will also be adding some more anime pieces in the future. You can find all anime pieces that we have when you type "anime" in the search bar in our app. So hopefully, you'll find one or two more that you like. :)
