  • Stuck in a loop

    Trying to open a new account and keep being sent in a fruitless loop. I login, select the account type, type in my info, get taken back to the login page and then the process starts all over again. Super frustrating. I tried calling customer support only to be told someone will be in touch through the app, which I can’t access because of this hopeless loop I’m stuck in. Reached out to customer support via email yesterday and still haven’t heard back. Have heard good things about Bunq but so far I am not at all impressed.

  • Incredible - best bank by far

    Bunq delivers exactly what I would wish from a modern bank: the app is is frictionless to use, but offers all kinds of power features when you need them. And I love how you can change things instantly in the app, for which other banks require you to call them or come to their office. Just one example of Bunq awesomeness: I can send cheap international transfers with Wise, directly through the app. Wow.

  • Awful, tiny interface - arrogant assumptions

    First - the app itself is awful and unlearnable. Completely unintuitive with no alternative desktop. I don’t want to do complex bank transactions on a tiny screen - but with bunq there’s no other supported option. Even for a business account. ☹️

    Then there are just plain stupid “features”. Like taking up screen space to show you a map of where your payment went? Really? That is vital? Or how about their “banking is social” idea? Um. No. Banking is private and for good reason.

    They are an expensive option on top of all this. Will move away from this bank in near future - as soon as it’s possible under current conditions of COVID-19.

  • I was forced to pay for planting trees

    As a payment app it's good. If you do want me to pay for account creation fee, no problem at all. But forcing me into the Easy Green plan without letting me know(so from the support basically I get that I need to figure out and change the plan from somewhere by myself). I fully support planting more trees for the planet. But definitely not through this way ☹️(I hate being forced)

  • Terrible service

    I was happy with this bank until it took Bunq 1.5 months to simply refund me €12 that they mistakenly charged me. I don’t care how many customers you have! This should take maximum 14 days and still that is garbage… I used to speak highly of Bunq but now I wouldn’t recommend this bank to anyone! They have overpriced fees for very basic features. The monthly fee is ridiculous for a simple basic account….

  • You’ll Lose Access to Your Money

    I’ve been using Bunq for a year now and mostly love the service. However, I’m currently locked out of the app and haven’t heard from customer support in 3 days. Every now and then, the Bunq app will force a complete log out and use SMS authentication to allow you back into the app. For me, that SMS never delivers. The problem is, besides their email channel, all customer support flows through the logged in state of the app. Even the “SOS” phone number that was introduced just takes a recording of your issue, and says that you will receive a response in the app. While I was able to get help within a few hours the first time around, I’ve not been locked out of my account for 3 days with no response from customer support. I’m very lucky that I paid my rent the day before this happened.

    In short, if something goes wrong and you are unable to log in, there is no channel that will quickly put you in touch with a human being to talk to. I’ve also heard that Bunq has a very toxic work environment, so I wouldn’t be surprised if their customer support team is short staffed anyway.

    Think someone stole your identity? Look forward to waiting two days to get a response, then getting a bunch of snippy, dismissive responses.

    I tried to open a Bunq account, but it turned out, someone already had (?!) so it would only let me try to recover the existing account. My own phone number and email didn’t work, but my abuser’s did (!!) so I let them know my identity was stolen.

    You can only email them. They don’t have a phone. It takes 48 hours for a response, even for something like this. Two days never felt so long.

    The first person didn’t seem to understand what I was saying but eventually I got passed to the snark department, where I was assured that there’s no problem here: the account recovery form checks if the information matches any account, not your account. Wait, what?

    I explained that this is an information leak. I can’t send them a list of email addresses and phone numbers and have them tell me which ones match account holders, so I shouldn’t be able to get that same information from the account recovery page.

    They didn’t seem to see the problem. After increasingly frustrated back and forth, they told me they’d forward my “feedback” to the appropriate parties. Yeah, thanks.

    I think my money will be safer elsewhere.
