  • Useless

Can’t pull up a nectar barcode. Can’t manage nectar card details. Almost as useless as the website.
  • Why are so many items “We’re sorry, this item is currently unavailable”?

The app is fine and works well for me.
I order items using the app one week ahead of the required delivery date. The app always states certain items are “we’re sorry, this item is currently unavailable” or if it does say available you sometimes may get a “this item is not available at this time” which is understandable. I regularly ask the delivery drivers ‘where’ the food comes from to which they respond your local store. As an experiment I went to my local store on a delivery day at 7am when all the packers are running around loading up delivery boxes, and guess what, all the supposedly “unavailable items” were all on the shelf!
So come on Sainsbury’s, sort it out. We know you want to have full shelves for walk in customers, but the future is home delivery, so look after your home delivery customers and if it’s available in store it should be available for home delivery. Apart from this annoyance, the delivery service is very good and I will continue to use Sainsbury’s.

  • Terrible

No built in rewards. Seperate app to shop in store.
  • Good shopping app but flawed when shopping for two customers

    Hi

Been using the app for a couple of months now but it cannot easily handle being used for two sets of shopping to two addresses.

We are very loyal so I do a weekly shop for myself and I then have to log out and back in to do a distance shop for my Mum who is isolating at another address.

The problem is that the app sometimes remembers and displays order details from my previous usage even though I log in under a new name and email address.

It seems you store the last order display in cookies making the information ‘sticky’ to the phone rather than the shopping account.

This can be very confusing as scheduled deliveries to Mums house can display on my account and vice versa

I suppose the easiest way around this software glitch would be for me to move one of the weekly shops to Tesco or Waitrose?!?

Also, Sainsburys insists on sending vouchers rather than refunding unavailable items to the customers card. You are relying on the app to remind the customer to use the voucher which is unnecessarily manipulative.

Finally, the deliveries regularly arrive with items best before dated as the next day. This is the one thing that puts customers off trusting a supermarket on home delivery, especially in a lockdown when organising meals for a whole week

We have had to throw food away because it was simply not possible to eat all the short dated items in time.

  • Sainsbury Online Shop

WelI I really enjoyed putting my shopping list together, how ever a I found that the choice on some items where really Ltd. As if I shopped in store as I normally do, and I really enjoy food shopping, but I have sprained my ankle and I am incapacitated, and there is only so much that one’s husband can purchase from the Tesco garage you are really ltd.
But I usually buy Sainsbury’s own Lactofree Milk, and only the Arla was available which is 55p more expensive, then the Sainsbury antihistamines I would usually purchase, but only branded one’s again where available and these where twice the price.
So my conclusion on this is that Sainsburys make more of a profit on some of the branded goods than their own. Hence only three stars which has never been the case in the past.

Thank you all for being there for us and getting us through the horrific pandemic we are all in, We really do appreciate you all for still being out there every day wether it be in store, working in the warehouses, or delivering goods to home or in store.

  • Far from perfect

Recently switched to Sainsburys as able to buy a Delivery Saver pass which is not available currently from Tesco’s and has become impossible to get a delivery slot from them. With the advance booking period with Sainsburys getting a slot has not been a problem. However, when you are booking 2 weeks in advance you will invariably need to change the order and checking out again on an existing order appears to be a problem. The app seems to crash trying to check out if an item is now available which is resolved by going back and trying again but it currently seems to get stuck on the payment screen - not progressing through to the MasterCard Secure check. Seems the only solution is to go and complete the check out on the website which kind of deletes the point of the app.

One other gripe, when I first registered with Sainsburys online a few years back I was able to import my favourites - having now switched from Tesco’s for my regular shop it would be useful to have the option to reimport the favourites as they have obviously changed over time.

  • Please fix the bugs!

I like the layout of this app and it could potentially be easy to use but unfortunately the bugs let it down! I’ll amend my shop a couple of times during the week and at least one of those times it will just crash at the checking out screen, so I’ll have to log on to the website to complete the checkout.
The most annoying thing at the moment is that it keeps unticking ‘allow substitute’ on half of my items, so I have to check every time I check out and tick them all again. I’ve missed out on items because of this when I’ve forgotten to check. I’m not sure if this is an app or website problem but it’s happening to other people that I know use Sainsbury’s too. Please fix these annoying issues!
It would also be nice to be able to have the option to email / live chat with Sainsbury’s- I’d like to report these issues with them but can’t be bothered to wait around on hold when phoning them. If you message them on social media, it just gives an automated response about vulnerable customers so there’s no way of contacting them other than by phone.

  • Majority spot on

Mostly very good, accurate, good quality.
Fresh veg like brocolli could be better, when I get it, it’s already soft and that’s my week supply. Same for the grapes.
Delivery people are also helpful and friendly.
All in all, a real life saver.
    Thank you.
  • Mostly easy to use

Have used this for many months now and find it easy to login and enter food items. The app remembers your purchases and adds them to your favourites making easy subsequent shop easier to do.
If items are out of stock it tells you when you try to order. However, there are still times that items are unavailable when you collect your shopping, presumably are sold out when your order is picked by the store staff.
Allows changes up to 23:00 on the day prior to collection/ delivery.
Only gripe I have is when confirming an order, it can take, what seems an eternity, to confirm payment and complete the order. This is especially so when doing amendments to an order. On several occasions after waiting 10-15 minutes I cancel it and go back in and try to complete again. Usually it has remembered your changes but on occasions it doesn’t so have to re input.

  • Why are there always issues?

There are always issues with logging in with the app. It tells me to call the helpline but if I log in with the website it’s perfectly fine.

In terms of the service after using this app it’s not great. I had one order that on my screen said it had gone though, however on there’s apparently it had not?! So they phoned me up and said I needed to pay over the phone. My payment had been accepted according to the app!

The in regards to what you receive after using the app... multiple times I have received items that have the use by date of that day... and i usually get my delivery in the evening so it’s REALLY annoying that I get so much that has to be used that day. One item was discounted which was fine however they still charged me full price. And I know I can get the money back as a voucher but that means I have to contact you every time... and it is literally every delivery that I have to request the voucher. Really I’d like to not spend my time doing this and just have items with a reasonable use by date.
