Now that's service!
A few days ago, I was trying to complete my order and was having trouble getting it accepted for payment. I am one of the "vulnerable" bunch and live in fear of losing my precious delivery slot. I decided to wait in the online queue to speak to someone. The wait wasn't too bad and I got through to someone who really knew what he was doing - and what I was doing! I explained the problem and he advised me to move to the Sainsbury's app, which I did. He took over the transaction then, and before I knew it, my order was confirmed. Big sigh of relief!
His name was Alex (I think), and I wanted to tell you that he is an employee to be proud of. He did his job very well incredibly well, and all without making me feel foolish. I have nothing but praise for all the Sainsbury's staff I have dealt with, particularly at this difficult time.

Checking out takes far too long
As a very long time user of online shopping with a different supermarket .... due to covid and having to shield my husband, couldn’t always get a slot with them, so am trying Sainsbury’s ... get a slot easy enough .... but checking out takes far too long ... why oh why do I need to go through payment details each time I add an extra item ? I am used to booking an slot a week in advance and I usually alter order as I run out of things, but with this app it takes so long to do that .... everytime I have to click so many buttons, checking if I’ve forgotten to buy things that I’ve never bought from them, then checking if I’ve forgotten a ‘favourite’ item ..... then a couple more ‘confirm buttons .... finally having to also go through the ‘verified by visa’ password page ....... every single time ......
I realise that presently all these websites are over run & I do appreciate being able to get the shopping delivered , as we can’t go to the shops , but .....
Once I can get slots with my usual supermarket again I won’t be returning to Sainsbury’s ..... and it’s not due to the staff they are doing a great job during a very difficult time ... it’s due to the appShow lessJakadach
Frustrating replacements
I understand lack of availability due to COVID-19, but the replacement choices on our last three shops have been incredibly frustrating. For example, we ordered greaseproof paper, they gave us tin foil. (Completely different products and not needed.) We ordered vegan digestives, they gave us biscuits with milk in. (Which I can’t eat due to allergies.) However when it came to something simple like raspberry jam, they didn’t think to replace it with strawberry jam or similar. Their swap choices are completely confusing to me. I understand we can turn it off altogether but why not have a system more like Tesco where you can select ideal replacements? Anyway, thanks but no thanks.
Edit: Have upgraded the rating as customer service couldn’t have been nicer when I called to report the issues and sorted a refund of the unwanted items. However I am leaving it at 3 stars as Sainsbury’s still needs to improve the replacement system for items ordered through online shopping.Show lessInimbi
Easy shopping
This is the first time I have done on line shopping.
it most certainly wont be the last. I found the on line
shopping web site very user friendly , particularly as a novice and 80 years old. The products available were almost as prolific as in the Store. I did have a few things substituted but I was fine with the substitutes . A few items also out of stock , but no problem. My order was delivered on time and the driver was very helpful and polite. Would thoroughly recommend this way to shop. Stress free and saving having to park and trundle round the Supermarket with a shopping trolley, although I have never found that a problem, but online shopping is a doddle.
Thank you to all the Staff who gathers my shopping together and also to all the Staff behind the scenes, , front of house and delivery drivers helping our Community to survive during this terrible time we are going through with Covid 19

Lovely personal service
Having taken the plunge to have home shopping after becoming disabled I can only praise the service I received. The delivery slots are an hour long and over the whole day and evening which is perfect for me as I need some help to unpack. The delivery drivers are kind, considerate and act like nothing is too much bother. They deliver into the kitchen and are happy to help unpack for me. I never feel pressured or rushed and am made to feel valued as a customer. The online ordering is simple to use and the weekly or manufacturer in store offers are readily available to see. Any items not available are replaced( so far with brilliant alternatives) or the driver will take them back right then so Cant say fairer. I’m very happy with the quality and sell by/ use by dates are even pointed out if less than expected, above and beyond. Well done Sainsbury’s for making the change from store to home delivery for me so painless, a pleasure in fact. Great job choosing such lovely drivers, they made it for me totally.Show lessSausagemum
