Glitchy

Hard to review statements and transactions and any payments you make on the app are not well traced/documented. I recently made a payment on my loans using the app and the app switched one of the payments to my secondary bank account randomly (I had been consistently paying from a different one for many months and didn’t authorize it to do so) creating a banking issue for me. Customer support could not support me with this even though I never physically changed my payment preferences for that particular loan because it had happened on the app. There is no tech support to help troubleshoot this either so if it happens to you, you will be the one faulted if it’s a problem that day for your secondary payment account. Be warned.

Use the Website.

This app is glossy and works good if you have one loan to manage. I have 5 for me and my kids and it is very painful to look at all accounts in one spot and know due date.
You have to scroll and open each to see.
The amount due on main screen shows all loans due during that period. If I have one loan due on the 2nd and rest due at end of the month (and I get paid bi weekly) I Ned to dig through each loan and try to deselect ones I do not want to pay now. It’s like they almost are trying to trick people into just paying all they can at once.
Finally some of the top reviews say it works great for setting up autopay. If I use autopay and get statements sent to my email. Then what is even the purpose of the app.

This organization are pure scammers

I’m trying to pay down the balance on one of my crazy high interest Sallie Mae student loans (predatory high 12%! - I had my credit affected due to my ex husband at the time divorcing him too while in school) but on the app they make it so hard to do it if you have an autopay setup. I even tried to chat but it was just a bot that couldn’t understand what I wanted (I’d think it’s a common request to ask how to make a one time pay down of a balance on a particular loan). Paying $1000/m I’d expect a better customer service response when I need it and absolutely predatory loan terms - stay away from Sallie Mae if you can.

This is absolutely the worst place to have a loan . There are no consequences for borrowers after several years. I’m a single mom and my son has been irresponsible and has not paid on his loan in 5 years. I’ve made every payment on time but can’t even claim it on my taxes. The payment continues to increase and it’s all I can do to make payments . My oldest daughter and husband also co-signed for one of his loans , but I’m paying that also. It’s killing me to do this and I’ve written Sallie Mae about it, but they’ve done nothing to help. I wouldn’t advice using them to anyone. I’m a Christian and I have morals and values so I continue to scrape to pay the loans, but it’s just not right, since most of the money doesn’t even go to the loan itself but to interest. 😊

Payment System Is Not Completely Efficient :-(.

With regards to auto pay. The system does not allow for auto pay of an individual loan account. You either have to set up the auto pay to pay all of the loan accounts existing for a member or none at all.

The reason why this system is not efficient in the auto pay area, as to my situation is that I have agreed to pay one of the four loans for the member, but not all four. Therefore, I have to set up payments for each month, which has become very cumbersome, because I am a 67 years old and I my memory is not as sharp as a younger version of me. I stress every month to remember to make the payment on time.

The only solution that comes to mind is to set up 2 or 3 future payments for the future due dates. But then I stress to remember if I’ve completed the future set up dates.

When a person reaches senior years, they shouldn’t have to worry about whether or not they have made a payment or not if they wish to set up auto payments.

That is my reasoning. I hope this message isn’t disregarded. These days, I’ve experienced torturous customer service from companies who lead us to believe that they actually are concerned and take feedback seriously. Always seems like a lot of false promises being made. We call it being smoke screened, so to say.

I’m hunching this message will be lost in space once I click send. Oh well, the solar eclipse, set for April 8th, 2024 will have my message float on by in outer space.

Worst business, worst app

Not only are you dealing with the most predatory company imaginable… you are dealing with an incomplete app. It has nowhere near the tabs that the website has. For instance: if you want to check to see if a form application (such as deferment) you cannot find the list of all past form submissions without going hill over dale. Example: they are STILL charging me despite being in school and applying for deferment (which they should be notified anyway, but this company is crap so what do you expect?). Can I check my form status from the app??? NO. Also; word of warning: if you apply for forbearance they may just “forget” to cover one of those months. It happened to me and it’s been a year of me “waiting”. Even after contacting them numerous times. So, in conclusion: never use this company and if you have no choice—don’t rely on the app.

Dissatisfaction

Your online customer service is zero help- I’ve set up auto pay twice now and every month you charge me a $25 late fee. I typed in routing number and account number just as bank says and I get an email every single time. So your making money off me & when I call your 1-800 number no one will help me. The last lady told my daughter in June that no new info would be updated until August 1. Which makes no sense at all. I’d like a refund of $50, & someone to call me. If it’s an error on your site then it needs corrected. As I said I typed in exactly what my bank sent me and there’s zero record of my account on the app ONlY my daughters. Then when I click to pay late fee you have no problem taking payment. So if hers is set up, why are you charging me a late fee when you can clearly take from her account???

I Hate Sallie Mae

I just want to pay my loan off , once and for all and be done . Sallie Mae should be called Stalker Mae . I am happy to be keeping up with my loan payments on time because I got a better job that’s it , they are not harassing me anymore . I don’t have nothing nice to say about Sallie Mae , they were horrible to my co-signer , and I when the pandemic first started unforgettable. The harassment in phone calls , emails, and mail was ridiculous .We were behind in our payments , they were not helpful at all during the pandemic, not sympathetic when people finances were low . I don’t recommend Sallie Mae loan services at all , save yourself. Do not take out a loan with them . The interest rate is ridiculous as well as . No thank you.

Honest review

I like the app better than the website for paying my loans. It makes it easier to pay the amounts and pay what I want if I’m paying extra on my loans as well as I don’t have to worry about delays in taking the payment out where as before it would take up to 7 days before the payment would be processed. Now I do use the website to get more in depth information about my loans but just making payments and not having to worry about missing the due date is a relief for me.
