  • Serviceable but hopefully ongoing improvements

I just received this unit so my impressions are pretty fresh. I have had other AcuRite stations and sensors for a while.

First the WiFi setup was unnecessarily difficult and I ultimately ended up having to use use two different laptops, my iPad and my iPhone before I finally find something that could hold the unit’s fragile signal long enough to set it up. But. . . it’s not going to be transmitting a lot of data so I guess the signal need not be that robust and you only have to set it up once so. . . ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Once setup was complete I was disappointed to see that the app does not offer access to all the information available on the station itself. One of the selling points of WiFi access was the ability to monitor the temperature inside our home when we travel so we know if there are any problems with the heat in winter or A/C in the summer (our dog and cat stay home) but the app does not offer this information. It seems like it should.

Otherwise, so far, so good. Thanks AcuRite.

  • WiFi stincks

I switched to a WiFi display unit. The software works OK, but the WiFi receiver in the display unit, has to be the cheapest one available. I went to the WiFi display, to eliminate using a PC, as with my previous unit. The WiFi display, was easy for me to get going, BUT. My router is in the same room, maybe 15 feet away from the display unit. Putting the display right next to the router, you get 4 BARS on the unit. At 10 feet, the BARS are 2-3 in the display. Where I need to place the display, is about 15 feet from the router, in open room space with no obstructions. The signal is 1 BAR, and fluctuates from 1 BAR to maybe 2-3 BARS, to dropping the connection altogether. The same router, connects to other devices, and all have full BARS, and never drop the WiFi signal, even in other rooms in the house. Some of the other WiFi units are out in my backyard, and connect with the router no problem.

  • 24-Hour Rainfall History Nonsensical

The 24-hour rainfall history, in Charts, doesn't make sense. The purpose of a 24-hour look-back is to see the total rainfall accumulation of that time period, from the time the information is requested. The chart displays "total" and "high" amounts. The total figure displays the amount of rainfall from midnight of the day the information is requested, not the total rainfall of the previous 24-hour period. The "high" figure displays the total amount in the 24-hour period -- that doesn't make any sense. Unless you're wanting the most rainfall in a smaller timeframe within that 24-hour period, an hour, for example, "high" is illogical. It's merely a problem in the algorithm of the chart, for the previous 24 hours. Also, at midnight of the 24-hour rainfall history, the rainfall amount drops to zero. Again, illogical. The graph should display an accumulation in a 24-hour period -- assuming there was rain prior to midnight. This should be a simple problem to fix. Additionally, there appears to be no other way to communicate this type of issue to the app developers, other than by means of an app review.

  • What is up with app.

    Cons
First, I agree why not plot wind direction?

Seconded, the instructions to install the mobile monitoring is poor. Once you figure it our the it makes sense.

Third, every time I configure the weather underground it works for about 30 mins then tears up my whole mobile internet system until I unplug the base and plug it back in. I’ve been through this 4 times times today so I guess I will not be using it. They use it as a selling point but I can’t use it.

    Pros.
Other than this not a bad system, If you don’t won’t to set it up on the other weather systems.

  • Has worked well for me

I have two weather stations (Atlas@42ft and Iris@ 10ft) plus temperature sensors in the front door alcove, the attic and a new one to monitor my greenhouse) going through an Access and a backup Access. I have been using the MyAcurite app for several years to monitor while at home and while away. It has been very stable. Its a great tool for my family.

  • Great app, great support from Tracy

I recently had an issue with my connection to the app, and then I realized I couldn’t call someone so I chatted with a wonderful representative of their customer service team. Tracy if you ever see this, you are the best customer service representative! Not only did you help me,I left feeling like I made a new friend.

  • App is OK but missing so features

Setup was pretty easy but the Wi-Fi took a bit to update. Also the date/time sync should pull from with internet instead of manually using to set it up. They really need a Widget for the IOS Home Screen. It’s kinda ridiculous that I have to open the app to see the PWS information. I’d be great to have it on the home screen just available to view. Would really improve the rating if you had that feature.

  • App/System has been working well!

After initially having issues with maintaining a connection, everything has been working great.

Batteries on the sensors died recently and no notification was received. Settings have been set to notify me of a low battery. The information in the app shows that battery is “normal.” This needs to be corrected.

  • Great When It Works

I recently upgraded to an Atlas Direct to WlFi system. Easy to install equipment, a bit more challenging to connect to WiFi. Once connected, the info, tables and graphs were great. The first display, however, had issues. It wouldn’t maintain memory if the power went out despite having batteries, the lightning strike counter couldn’t decide what to show and, the display information would sporadically disappear and reappear on the AcuRite app and Wunderground app. Even though the display was constantly connected to my internet, a fiber optic system with an Orbi mesh router, the apps would show the unit as offline. AcuRite replaced the display and I’ve been running it four days. The issue with the display going offline to the apps continues. The original display would transmit fine for a few days, drop out for several hours, and then comeback on line. This happened numerous times. The replacement display, now beginning it’s 5th day in operation, went offline 9 hours ago and is still out though the display is connected to my internet. This would be a great system if it worked full time, but it doesn’t. The reason I upgraded to this system was to have the internet connection. Looks like I need to return the whole system and find another provider. BTW-don’t expect support. No connection by phone, only by email. Most responses only refer you to online information you likely already read.

  • Formerly good resource neglected

When this application was first released, it had a few bugs, but they were quickly addressed by a US based support staff that were helpful and knowledgeable about the weather/environment instruments they supported. A user could download and view up to a year of data, and it was useful in troubleshooting issues around the home (eg HVAC problems, water leaks)

Unfortunately, the parent company decided to pare down funding. There is no longer support for the instrumentation, only FAQ’s. The app can only support a few weeks of data (returning an error for longer time frames, even though the options for months and year still exist) and has not been updated in over a year. What used to be a resource I used daily has been neglected by its creator and I will be looking for a new, more robust system.
