  • Saved my greenhouse

I’ve got 2 Acurite sensors in my greenhouse, and a couple more at various locations in my yard, mainly for temp and humidity monitoring. They saved my greenhouse full of tropicals and orchids by sending alerts to my email, setup specifically for this. I’ve recently acquired an Apple Watch 4 and would really like for the app to access the watch so I don’t have to keep the iPhone on my person all the time. Is this a possibility for the near future? If this happens I’ll up the review to 5 stars.

Hi Rebelfriend, Thanks for the feedback and the review. We're glad to hear our products are helping you out. We don't have anything to announce at this time regarding the Apple Watch but we're always looking for ways to improve the app, and will keep that in mind.
  • Acurite AND Chaney Instruments

Acurite’s weather station is of very poor quality. You can expect the humidity to be constant at 99% within 3 - 4 months of installation. In almost 2 years of use I replaced the wind cups twice due to wind breakage and according to their software it capped at 25 mph.

You can not realistically reach their customer service and when they do reply after 30 - 45 days they are absolutely no help.

I’ll never own another AcuWrong product.

  • I don’t know what to make of this

I currently have the newer access device, and the older smart hub running. The smart hub works fine, always reporting accurate rainfall. However, the access device has recently started reporting “ghost” rainfall, i.e. rainfall that hasn’t happened. For example, it has reported 1.6” so far today(it’s now 8:18 AM), and we have had NO RAIN TODAY.

  • Terrible

How could they make getting info and looking at charts any more cumbersome and useless? I have no idea. Instead of showing the temperature data in a regular type graph, they split it into two lines, one for high temps, one for low temps. Who thinks this stuff up? Ever seen a data point graph over time? Just do that. Also WeatherUnderground gets my data, but this app and acurite website constantly has several hours where no data shows up every day and spits out email warnings even though they are getting data. Been through nightmare that is acurite “support” and they are useless and have no clue. Using new Access hub. This entire service is a waste of time now, and doesn’t work.

HI BWX232, Our daily graphs track the high and low temperature for each day. If you want finer granularity of the temperature over time you need to look at the today chart, or a custom chart with a range less than 3 days.
  • Never works anymore

Too bad, it used to be great. They forced those of us who have used acurite equipment forever to upgrade to their latest garbage equipment. Now this app never updates or shows any activity on any of the sensors. All sensors show RED Bars. It shows: “Excellent Signal to Sensor”, and “OFFLINE”. Why is it OFFLINE? That is on their end, not mine.

I can’t get it to go back online, and the only thing that has changed is adding this new “Access” Hub. Very frustrated that they do this and it no longer works.

  • Loses connection

Lately, this app loses connection to my devices (3). Then they appear, then they lose again. This used to work perfectly. I may have to remove app and reinstall, but then it is a royal pain to crawl under the house to get device numbers. One is on the roof which is on my no go list. Disappointing.

UPDATE: after deleting and reinstalling all seems to be OK. Hopefully it will last.

  • Update: could be better

The equipment and graphics are pretty ok!

Even if I refresh my app, the internet bridge only communicates information every three minutes or so. This is the opposite of helpful for things like wind gusts, which is one of the things I looked forward to the most when I got this setup. It’ll report on the at-home display, but the app misses so many wind gusts due to infrequent reporting. I would love to see an option like using more battery life in exchange for more frequent data updates on the app, but I’m not optimistic... I’m strongly considering changing brands of weather station for a setup that will provide more frequent updates. I really want more frequent updates on the app and the ability to pick imperial or metric for each reading on the app.

If you’re interested in temps, rainfall, and a few other readings, this is the app and weather station for you. If you’re interested in wind like me, don’t get this equipment or app.

Hi Bigbadwoolfman, Thanks for your feedback we will pass your request for imperial and metric changes to the development team. As for the reading discrepancy the display and the Access hub get readings at different intervals so you may see slight variations. If you are seeing large variations please contact our AcuRite Loyalty Team at 262-729-4850 and they can help troubleshoot that issue. For more frequent data updates you can drag down on the dashboard to refresh the data. Thanks again for the great feedback we hope you continue to enjoy the app.
  • Bad Rain Totals

This app has worked great for the past couple years. However the most recent update no longer captures rain totals properly. Today it recorded part of the day, and then suddenly reset itself mid-day back to zero and began recording the rest of the day. The totals are low based on the latter half of the day.
If it weren’t for this latest bug, I’d give it 5 stars.

  • Okay when it works

The discontinued hub I could give a pass, but just go to Acurite’s own website and read the slew of complaints for the ‘Access’ replacement. Drops signal, folks couldn’t order new device with promised discount online. Support is impossible to reach because so many are in queue. I received my 5 in 1 as a gift around 3 years ago so I haven’t wasted any money on it. It only worked well for 6 months then fan went out. Was sent upgraded dual solar panel fan housing and it only worked for 3 weeks then the only way fan would spin is if you had it apart and flicked it with your finger to start it running. So in the summer it gets to 115 indicated. And so it’s for this kind of poor technology and service that we’re supposed to support the dismantling of NOAA to make way for private weather companies?!?!?! How many Acurite customers have failed to stop exporting their data when found to be inaccurate?

Hi Furthest Left, Thanks for taking the time to leave us feedback. It's true that unfortunately we are no longer able to continue support of the SmartHub after February of next year. Our support forums tend to show a large number of issues due to being our only public option currently for people to go for support. We've actually fixed quite a few issues that were seen in the SmartHub with better technology in the Access. Also it's true that our ordering system had a few issues due to a larger than expected demand, those issues should now be resolved and the site should be running as expected. We are sorry to hear you've run into so many issues with your 5 in 1 device. Please reach out to our AcuRite Loyalty Team at 262-729-4850 and someone will be happy to assist you.
  • Good app with room for Improvement (Suggestion)

Overall I like the App though there are a few things things that I am suggesting to be improved/changed.

    1. The Charts Page should be mirrored to the Browser view on your computer... let us scroll down to see different variables...instead of having to select each one... really annoying.

    2. Please give us horizontal view of the app. At least for the Charts... it would make viewing a lot easier!

Using the 5-1 AcuRite Weather Station with HD Screen and SmartBride to directly upload to Wunderground.

    Thanks
