App has huge bug
The features and design of the app are good, but the app often crashes - about three times - when I open it which really slows down being able to unlock the thing and also it’s an indispensable part of owning the bike.
It needs whatever is causing it to crash a few times to be resolved.

Usability problems
App doesn’t explain ins and outs of bike enough, bike ride history doesn’t work, wifi network history doesn’t work, buttons need more hints and documentation, no way to choose volume of horn, testing horns shouldn’t be so loud, no explanation why bike makes random noises while parked and locked, no customisation of alarm, no guide or manual in app, no video tutorials on how shifting works, or what buttons do

Nice app design, some oddities
The look and feel of this app is great, but it would be so much better with some tweaks.
If you are unfortunate enough to have to be in the EU region, the default shifting moments make it go up to gears that are too high for the associated speeds especially with gear 4. Worse still, you can’t adjust them to speeds that are high enough in the custom screens. For example, I would like gear 4 to only kick in above 21mph.
Tapping the Watch complication wakes the bike up. I wish there were an option to stop it doing that.

Please support multiple users!
App and bike are great. The customization is really useful since I share the bike with my husband. I wish I could use my own VanMoof account or have my own separate settings so it’s easier to have two users. Also was confused for a while about the Person icon, I thought it was a lock icon and couldn’t figure out how to log out of my VanMoof account so I can log into his. Otherwise, been loving the bike and we’re super happy with the purchase! 👏

Good bike but can’t recommend
I’ve had a X3 for several months and I must say that it’s a lot of fun to ride, when it’s working. However I’ve had enough problems with it that I can’t recommend anyone else buy one. I’ve had problems with assembly, problems with the brakes, problems with the gears. As of last week the bike is no longer able to produce any sounds - including the bell sound and the alarm sound, with obvious safety and security risks. Support are ok, but not great. I was thinking about getting a second one for the family - but now I’ll be looking elsewhere

I have the s2 and can’t do anything with this app, what’s the point of this app if you can’t control the bikes features totally?? There are people making money on another vanmoof app cause they have control over all the features on that app smh.. is that other app developer a past vanmoof worker that took their idea else where to make money🤔

Hills in Seattle!
Ordered my S3 in late August, a 75th year birthday gift. I’ve kept my road bike, but with S3 I’ve found routes in Seattle area I’d never tackle before; I knew my way around the city and across both Lk Washington bridges for longer routes (~20+ miles). Now my S3 (“Vincent”) and I continue to find new routes, hilltop vistas and so much easier to climb! I’m still learning how to preset motor assist + boost button to climb up the hills! This bike is a perfect fit for my retiree bike outings!

iPhone app good. Watch app not working for me
Phone app does what it says on the tin. Have been able to unlock, change settings and gear change speeds and it works.
Custom gear settings could do with an update. Can Vanmoof increase the range of speeds that you can change gears - 4 th gear is too strong on European motor settings. Probably OK in flat Amsterdam, but not so nice in Scotland. When pedalling after the motor stops at 15 mph, it’s ok in 3rd gear, then 4th kicks in and it’s really hard until you get up to around 20 mph.
Watch app is not showing any info on the watch face complication and effectively has turned into wasted space, and I’ve never managed to get touch unlock work using my watch. Great potential, but not there yet. Pity. Hope there’s an update soon.

Can’t wait for summer!!!
This is my second bike. The power is hands down more aggressive than the first version. The brakes are great and the new lock system is so cool. I can’t wait to buy my third bike. You’ve sent the bar really high for the S4. Great job Vannoof.
Amazing. Yet one thing to make it better
It’s a great app and bike that i wii ok I’ll suggest to anyone and everyone. I just hope that soon it could come in widget form so i can tap on the widget to unlock the bike just for a easier quality of life
