Reviews of MyCareLink Heart™

  • Does not disclose what it tracks

Prior to my pacemaker being install, I was told I would need a new app to remote monitor. The Medtronic representative did not know much about the app. And you could not preview the app prior to connecting it to your new pacemaker. I would not have gotten this pacemaker. Had I known how intrusive this app is. It tracks your physical activity without permission nor did the Metronic phone rep know exactly what they have other than the number of steps you taken a day based on your phone. So do they know where I've been? Do they know where my phones been are they tracking me through the pacemaker and just not saying it? Ask permission to your location. It does not ask permission to connect to your health app. Apparently there is no way to turn off the physical activity portion to the app. It's a gross invasion of privacy. And it's not like any of this is disclosed. There is no way to know what information it is harvesting off your pacemaker or phone. Also there is no way to turn any of the features off.

Spoke with another rep: they have no clue how or what data is being collected... they don't feel like they have to disclose what they are tracking.

Switched to the bedside monitor. Delete app and attempt to find out what data my pacemaker is collecting for free
  • Fails To Connect

The app found the pacemaker and registered it without any problems. That was the last time it worked. Since then every time we attempt to use it we get an error that the system is unavailable and to try later. We were told by the staff who walked us through the installation that my husband could install the app on his iPhone in addition to it being on mine. He gets the same error attempting to log in to the account that was created for my use.
  • Almost worthless

This is the most buggy piece of software I’ve ever experienced. The one time I needed it to record a heart event, it failed. It seems to constantly lose connectivity to the hunk of plastic in my chest.

This isn’t some free game to kill time. Its the most “mission critical” software I own. I almost hope that my cardiologist received a big pay-off to use this application. I can understand greed more than this level of incompetence.

If your cardiologist suggests implanting a monitor, I’d suggest you make sure to avoid this app unless you enjoy daily baby-sitting a piece of software. I am about ready to tell my doctor to remove my monitor or I’ll cut it out myself.
