The past decade has been filled with immense chaos on so many fronts. Political turbulence, the surge of social media, and the erosion of traditional family values left me feeling alone and isolated. For so long, all I knew was to bunker down and hope it would pass. Each time I timidly ventured back out to reconnect, I was met with a cacophony of noise, distractions, false insults, and hollow praise—no helmet or thick skin felt strong enough. Psychologists try to help, but they face their own constraints. Then, reluctantly, I downloaded Fabulous. I expected a barrage of trite motivational quotes and hype music, reminiscent of Rocky heading back to the ring. I dreaded this. I didn’t want to fight again; the world has enough conflict. Instead, I was pleasantly surprised. I read a calming passage, and my only task was—wait for it—to drink a single glass of water when I woke up the next day. I laughed, truly. For the first time in years. From the depths of my soul, I laughed. I finally realized that the chaotic ricochet of life’s distractions were like rubber bullets—and I already had thick skin. Earning a certificate for drinking a glass of water two days in a row might seem silly, but it’s working. It’s still early days, and these are small, shaky steps for this little soldier, but I’ve drunk my water and brushed my hair. Finally. Fixed? Not by a long shot. Fabulous? I’m certainly feeling so—for now, at least!
