Terrible app - constantly takes you out of app to access basic features

So, my biggest issue with this app is that the app itself does very, very little other than give you a breakdown on how much deductible you have left. If you want to access any of the other benefits associated with your insurance - for instance, any of the health rewards for exercising, eating better, etc - the app shunts you off into a Byzantine series of off-app websites that aren’t optimized for mobile use.

Simply put, this whole app feels, at best, half baked, and at worst, it’s tawdry storefront selling nothing at all. Just getting the app to work required about 10 minutes of setup. While this isn’t that bad in the grand scheme of things, the payoff for that setup was absolutely zilch, as I can’t do any of the things I actually need to do in-app. Really, this thing is useless.

Of course Face ID still doesn’t work. Login in on actual website an atrocity also. Why have remember this device when you still have verify almost every time.
Yes, look below, may not be obvious, but I KEEP hitting remember this device and it has been just two weeks! NOT longer than 4 months!!!

Of course now Face ID no longer works!

It’s okay to just check out your basic info, look for providers and such.
Security can be a nightmare. They “remember” your device for 4 months at a time. This round I ended up having to call customer service(usual illogical nonsense with too many/ not enough options; just give me a rep!)
App and website just went in circles. I got myself verified 4-6 times or so. App says it needs updated security; sends you to website. Goes through verification process, gets verified, sends you to app, app says needs updated security, sends you to website……..
another good thing I’ll add; it allowed me to see my EOB where using the phones web browser it wouldn’t.
It would also be nice if they added your personal health record to the app. WebMD holds it hostage until you answer silly questions irrelevant to your search to see your health record. BCBS customer service says all the same info is usually in the EOB’s anyway, so no real loss not seeing them.

So so so glitchy

I’ve used this app for years and it has consistently been buggy. I avoid using it unless I absolutely have to because it’s a challenge to even log in most of the time. It constantly wants to route you to the website instead of working in the app, which begs the question: why even have an app if it’s going to work this poorly and force you to the site anyway? 2FA is also just…broken. I verified 4 times but I’m stuck in the same endless loop where I can’t log in unless I verify an already verified phone number (no VPN or anything else disrupting the verification process). Developers, please either build a fully functioning app or strip everything away so the app is just a button that takes you to the website. Save your customers time, frustration, and money, because I’m sure part of our ever increasing premiums is going to pay for semi-functioning app development.

A broken web browser clone

There is nothing special about this app. It just a broken web browser that someone displays the same web pages you find when going through other web browsers. And that is if it works. I can never seem to get the information I need. For example, today it forced me on a loop to verify my account through text, but when it said to go back to the app after being verified, the app forced me to do it again several times with the same loop occurring. I closed the app Senegal times and each time I retried, it would get stuck in that loop. Then, I went to do the verification in a web browser, which worked on the first time. So, I go back to the app and can finally get in, not per the usual, it does not show any important information. My claims were not showing up, even though they did in the browser. Then the app started a new loop of alerting me “something went wrong,” and no matter how many times I close the app and retry, it doesn’t work. This is the typical when using this app. It is horrible and frustrating.

Wow, is this app bad. Now even worse.

Edit: they updated the app and made it even more useless than it was. The most basic functions have stopped working. Like being able to view a claim. The smartest thing blue could do is just stop offering an app. This is just digital garbage.

Original: I’ve had blue cross for all 30 years of my government service. Now that I’m retired, I actually need to start using it, and the results are really discouraging. Let’s start with this app…. Why do they keep emailing me about updates to my personal health record, but the app doesn’t have that available. So if I then open the web page inside the app, it keeps asking me to use download and use the app. It asks over and over and over again. Much like it keeps asking we to sign up for paper less delivery, even though I have signed up for paperless delivery. Then of course there is the really substantive problem of not being able to see how a pre approval is proceeding or how a appeal of a claim denial is proceeding. And should I mention that they lost my pre-approval, I had to fax it back to them, that their fax machine wasn’t working, and they have never contacted me back or explained what or why any of this is happening. I start Medicare in a couple of months. I am seriously reconsidering keep them as my secondary. These guys are a really mess.

Keeping up great work

Thanks for keeping less down time and easy to use for older folks.
Only wish is that when doctors don’t get pay because of they use incorrect member ID or their billing department fails to claim, they make BCBS members as sandwich, making us pay or call BCBS to pay them. I wish that BCBS leadership team should provide training to those clinics and remind them not to harass patients/ BCBS members.
Especially dentists ( dental clinics) are the worse but BCBS dental website is most of time stay down or can’t lock in to their website so I have to rely on my BCBS health EOB to see allowable charges and patients responsibility. I ran into a few times dentists goes by amount they submitted to my insurance, not based by allowable amounts charged.
I wish that BCBS health web team can help BCBS dental web team so we can log in and not down most of the times. Otherwise, I have to MetLife dental but I hate to do that because I like my BCBS. Also BCBS dental customer service people are not as friendly as BCBS health customer service.

Thanks. 🙏

Pain to use

This really should be a one star rating but I can get it to work once in awhile so I’ll give it 2 stars. Every time I go to login with my fingerprint, it says access denied, and I have to enter the password. It doesn’t show my incentives that I’ve completed. I have had to restart the exercise goal 3 times now because it didn’t show me all the items I needed to say yes to to complete the circle until it was too late to go back. Specifically in the 14th of this month it showed a completed circle. When I logged in to update the 19th and 20th the 14th had only a partial circle completed and it kicked me out. SO ANNOYING. Soooooo many glitches, if I didn’t want the $40 incentives I would never use it.

Update - today I go in to log my exercise and it says “this page is no longer available”!!!!!!!! ARE YOU KIDDING ME?? I have 9 days to go in recording my exercise and now I can’t even get to it. This app should have a ZERO rating!!

Good app

So far so good, I was prompted to give it a rating less than five minutes in to using it so I guess you know the value of those stars I gave it at this point. We shall see how it goes from here...tbc.... I find the app very useful after having used it now for almost a year. It does direct you to the website for certain access to parts of your account for security but I don’t mind that since it is keeping my PII safe. Update.. i’ve now use this app for well over one year going on 2...it’s very helpful in finding care. It’s also very helpful and links you to the website to your online health coach in order to earn more incentive monies for use on prescriptions and health care products. Due to the incentives that I have her I was pretty much able to get my prescriptions for the entire year free! If there’s not some glitches within the app and sometimes it loses your fingerprint for account access. But they stay up to date and rolling out application updates and as long as you have your update set to automatically enable then you should have minimal issues with this app I highly recommend it.
