  • Wonderful, but a bug needs fixing

There is a bug wherein names for governor promotions, among many other things, are replaced with LOC_GOVERNOR_PROMOTION or LOC_GREAT_PERSON_POINTS or something to that effect, and it is making it hard to play the game. Before a potential bug fix, what are some steps I can take to troubleshoot it?
  • Good game, bad port

I love Civ games and this is a fine way to play it if you don’t have a lot of time to play civ at home(and is leagues better than any mobile edition other than laptop gaming) but it’s simply better to buy another version. Of course this game is cheaper but civ is a strategic game meme to be played for long periods of time and have a lot of thought put into it and I just can’t see myself doing that on my phone. I personally have the ps5 version of which is far better and very worth the $20 more (I mainly recommend steam if you have it). The main problem though is the absurdly high pricing for the game, you get the games tutorial and 60 free turns (of which I’d recommend playing duel on online speed so you can get the most out of the time via a military victory) but then slaps a $10 lock in the rest of the game and a whopping $30(or was it 40?) lock on the dlc, spending as much as a 3 year old triple A title for a mobile game is huge (yes I’m aware micro transactions exist) and if your spending that much you might as well at least buy it on a laptop.
If you actually ready this huge review thanks, please head my warning and buy another version of this honestly great game, the only reason I’d get it is to burn the 60 free turns on a quick domination victory and see if you like the game.

  • Waste of money

I bought the new frontier pass update, It didn’t even start downloading followed all the procedures, even reinstalled the game 3 or 4 times restoring the purchases seems like 10 different methods to get them to download again, talked to their support who said try to do the trial and then download, didn’t work.
Wasted too much time and money will seek a refund as it doesn’t work.

  • Awesome that's is here but

I just can't get over the price! I already own it on Steam and I couldn't imagine buying it again for the amount asked. Honestly I'd rather just pay smaller amount to unlock the various civs we can play. Like even $5 a civ because there's only a couple I really love playing as and I'd be willing to pay $20 for the few I want to play as.

It's well over $100 for the full game and expansions and I'm absolutely not paying that, not to mention you cannot use family sharing whatsoever as it's in-app purchasing.

A different pricing model would also attract more players as the mobile game market does not work in the same way as the PC or consoles. People would buy just one or two players for a few $ but unless you know and love the game, and love it enough to have it on iPad, I feel not many will buy it because "woah, iPad games are not that expensive I'm not paying THAT much for an iPad game" despite it being a full blown PC game. Great work on the port. It's not as clunky as I first thought it was going to be

  • Some folks writing reviews...

    Thanks for the latest update!!!

Thanks for the Frontier pack! Works pretty good for me. Hello again, what a marvelous game. I couldn’t be happier! ____________ Just dropping back in to say THANKS for Gathering Storm! It works wonderfully well on the iPadPro! ————— Thanks for Rise and Fall. You guys are the best! Not having any issues with Great people or anything else. Using the original iPad Pro. Looking forward to additional content. Most mods continue to work like a charm with a little effort. ————— Hello all, it appears that some folks writing reviews do not fully appreciate or understand how the game is played... shame on you for your low ratings as they are totally unsubstantiated. This is a great game with great support. It works just like the Desktop/Laptop version but with the graphics toned down just a bit. Yes turns can take longer, but on a standard size map it might even be a bit faster than on my PC, although it is likely older than what some of you have. I’ve been playing on a 12.9” original iPad since it came out and the only issues I’ve had were with a couple of mod’s. Developers, with your next update could you possibly have as a game option, a setting to turn on the “ui scale 1” option so I don’t have to turn on my Bluetooth keyboard for that every time? Looking forward to R&F.

  • What could have been

Let me start by saying I know this is a pc port, not a game made originally for mobile play. However, if you are going to make it available for an iPad, at least make it so it is playable. I have the full game and purchased all of the DLC. After the update, the game is completely unplayable. The mini map no longer works at all. The map options are non responsive. You can no longer see tile yields or wonder names. If you continue to play anyway, when you get to the first world Congress, the game completely crashes and you can no longer play.
I have tried to reach out to customer support but there is no in game option. I have created a bug report on their website but as of today, it has been 5 days, there has been no response. As near as I can tell, they pushed out a bug filled update, took my money for the DLC and checked out, never to be heard from again.
Pre-update, the game was great. I play civ 6 on pc but wanted a game that was easier to get to than on my laptop. It was pretty close to that version. However, it now completely is broken.

DO NOT BUY THIS GAME UNTIL THE BUGS ARE FIXED. It took them over a year to release New Frontier DLC as compared to PC, Xbox and PlayStation versions, I would not hold my breath on a patch to fix these issues. We are clearly not their priority.

  • PLEASE FIX!!!

Or tell me how to get a refund. I’m have an iPhone 11 Pro, latest iOS and have tried over 6 times to download the Gathering Storm pack.

After it gets to a certain percentage (different every time) it goes back to 0% and stays there.

Please guys, fix this. Very disappointed and It seems you have neglected the iOS platform for some time and there appears to be a lot of people still playing this.

  • A bit of a grind

I’m going to keep persisting for a bit - but I find this version of civ a bit of a boring grind compared to previous versions. Barbarians are positively annoying and it is very difficult to adopt more than one set of tactics / play style because of this. The interface on iPad is also annoying - it is really easy to press the wrong button / part of the screen and issue orders you hadn’t intended (not least because sometimes it isn’t clear what part of the screen should be pressed to issue which order).

  • I would give it more if I could purchase outright

The game is great, I've had no issues with crash's or bugs yet, but to be fair I've only played the tutorial and 60 free turns. I've used iPhone X, 11" iPad Pro and a new iPhone 12 Pro.
I've been a Civ fan since when Civ II first came out. And I enjoyed this one, its familiar but new and the controls were quite well suited to mobile play, although a small phone may be annoying.
Unfortunately, the way you are trying to circumvent the Family Sharing and offer only in-game Purchase of the full game loses the rest of the stars for me, and also the sale.
I would love my kids to be able to experience this on their iPads, but unfortunately, instead of getting the sale of one full game with family sharing, you are getting no sale and no potential for my kids to experience, and thus purchase any addons or expansions, nor promote the game in future.
Instead of trying to money-grab, maybe reconsider your App Store strategy. I am not willing to pay $90 for the game on my Mac, but I would be willing to pay $40 on iOS if my kids could also play it. As it stands, you get nothing from me.

  • Just what the iPad needs

First off everyone, please ignore anyone complaining about the price. This is pretty much the full pc game that retails for over $100 this is not a scaled down typical mobile game. If we want quality titles we need to pay for them. The games plays very well and if you look online you can make it look even better easily. This is a quality title that you could get hundreds of hours out of!! We have to support developers if we want more than all the freemium rubbish out there!! This is an amazing achievement to get onto an iPad, I’ve been playing Civ games for years. Now I can finally play on my iPad. AWESOME!!

But noticed since iOS 14 it’s crashing pretty frequently. Please fix!
