Great but one major issue

I love that you can look at new words and it tells you about them, the issue is that you cannot make flash cards and it says that it will fix it but it has been like this for a couple of days

Without flash cards the app is still a major help it is just a downside

Response from developer

Hi, I'm sorry for this bug you ran into with the old version. Please try 3.0 which has been completely rewritten, works offline, and has a more reliable server connection as well as flashcard saving mechanism. I've put my all into this update and hope it will now work well for you. Thank you

App not working

I’m having the same problems as others with the app just not working. At first I couldn’t log on so I made another account. That worked for a few days but now I get an error when trying to save words to the flash card app. Normally the app is very good, especially for advanced learners of Japanese, but at the moment it is not being properly maintained so I can’t recommend it.

Let me know of anything remaining that needs to be addressed, I can see if you update your review here. Thanks very much, hope you like the latest updates, stay tuned for more soon.

News sources don’t update

The app currently does not work properly. Many of the news sources haven’t been updated in 7 days or more, and some just display an error and won’t load anything. If money is being charged for a service, it needs to be properly maintained. I love this app and would love to give it 5 stars because it really is that good, but I just can’t do that in its current state. Fix this app ASAP.

great for immersion learning/studying

im currently learning japanese through immersion and this app is really amazing for reading practice and vocabulary !! highly recommend

Subscription massively screwed up

Free version of app works fine, but tried to subscribe and got a bunch of weird error messages. Subscription went through on the billing side, but app doesn’t acknowledge it. They shouldn’t be charging for something that doesn’t even work…

Decent

The app seems nice so far. The only thing wrong with it is that I can’t access the watanoc and slow communication beginner’s articles. Plus a few others too, like Engadget Japan. Please fix this!

Not supported by developer

Paid for ad free version, but the developer stopped updating the articles about 3 years ago.

Exactly what I needed without realizing it!

If you’re an immersion learner, this is a must use for the reading portion. A “killer app” as one might refer to into in like 2007 or something. It’s often recommended to use the SRS in addition to simple sources such as NHK Easy, as well as sentence-mining, which are all built into the Manabi framework. If you’re like me, you put off reading because it feels more daunting than just sitting and watching. If you’re struggling with that like I was, this app is a no-brainer. What’s more, I imagine it maintaining it’s usefulness through to fluency and beyond.

Hi Shecklesmack! I hope you like the new 3.0 release I've just launched. I appreciate your kind review. I'd love to use your review as a testimonial on my website but I need your permission to do that - could you *please* send me your contact via email (or by contacting me on twitter/in-app chat)? alex@manabi.io It would really mean a lot to me as an independent/solo developer. Thank you so much.

Great app. But no way to contact support? Won’t recognize my paid subscription

There’s a lot of great content, and I love that I can keep track of kanji read/learned. The accompanying flash card app is really fun to use, and makes it so convenient. I got this over Satori.

I bought a subscription, but the app suddenly won’t recognize it. It logged me out and then won’t log me back in. I don’t have Facebook or Twitter — and can’t find any email to reach out to for support!

Nice App. Poor customer service

The app works well and easy to use. Best feature is the ability to use the Manabi flash cards to learn new words. However customer service has been poor. Forgot my password and was unable to reset password on the app due to “server error.” No response after contacting developer on Twitter.
