The app and dash camera are straight trash. I bought the hardwiring kit and I know I wired it correctly but the camera fails to record more than a few minutes while it’s in parking mode also when I try to view a video through the app that’s on the memory card on the camera it doesn’t work 90% of the time. This camera is a real headache, it’s super frustrating, do yourself a favor and pony up your hard-earned cash for the blackview dash camera. DO NOT BUY this VIOFO a129 DASH CAMERA or you’ll regret it!!

  • Very Useful

This is the first dash cam I’ve owned. Using the mobile app on my iPhone 7 with my A129 Duo has been a good experience overall.

Unlike other reviewers, I have not had issues with the live view. The ability to start/stop recording with the app is nice, and it’s great that ALL of the settings can be changed through the app so I don’t have to poke at the camera while mounted. I love the feature of syncing the camera clock with the phone’s clock automatically. The real killer feature is the ability to update the firmware of the device through the app - super convenient!

Connecting to the camera WiFi can be clunky and awkward, and the transfer speeds aren’t amazing. I believe both of these are limitations of WiFi technology, so I won’t criticize too much for this.

I’d definitely recommend downloading the app to any VIOFO customers.

  • A lot of issues

Purchased the A219 Dual yesterday. Having paired it up with the app I’ve noticed several issues.

    1. Not all settings for the camera are on the app. For example, to change date formatting, you have to do it from the camera itself.

    2. Cannot add Car Number or Additional Text. In the settings it states that it can be 11 alpha-numerical characters. However it only only lets you input numbers?

    3. Constantly crashes.

    4. Needs an option where you can view both camera feeds one on top of the other. Currently it overlays. This is unusual because there is plenty of unused space for another feed.

    5. When you view footage on the app, you do not get the GPS view at the bottom. You need to download it to the app, then view it. It seems like a hassle and an unnecessary step.

Overall I am happy with the camera and I hear good things about Viofo’s constant firmware improvements, so I’m hoping a future update will sort these simple annoyances out.

  • Intuitive. Worked as expected.

Actually better than expected. Layout pretty intuitive. File transfer was fairly quick. Well done!
  • Great

I don’t know if everyone that is having problems is on an old version or something because the version I have works perfectly. I have the dual a129. I will admit connecting to the cam for the first time is a little difficult at first but after that I got it to work every time. I can change settings, start recording, look at videos, or save videos from the app. Great.

  • Camera seems decent, app is pretty much useless.

Installed camera on Monday and downloaded app straight away.
    Initially all seemed fine.
From Tuesday onwards I have been unable to connect to the camera using this app so not able to view any footage.
Each time it starts, I’m back at square one with the app instructing me to ‘pair’ them both but they are already paired and connected according to my phone.
Tried deleting the pairing and beginning again but to no avail.
    Poor at best.

  • Playback on iPhone x

I don’t seem to be having any of the problems everyone else is having. My problem is playback. iPhone X 264, plenty of memory and all get is the wheel of death. Or plays for 5 sec, loads for 20. And that’s sitting in the car next to the device. Correct me if I’m wrong, but that’s an issue with the Wi-Fi (hardware) and not something that can be fixed with future app updates.

  • Worked then crashes

Transferring files using an iPhone X on the latest iOS was slow on 2.4 and 5 GHz.

Once a file finished and saved to the app, it played back ok once showing the GPS location but then it stopped allowing me to play the video and the app crashes when I hit play.

Needs work but everything else seems nice!

  • Landscape Mode Removed?

When running on an iPad this new version momentarily provides a landscape view but then quickly changes back to portrait. Works perfectly on an iPhone 7 though. Landscape view was a nice feature on 1.1. This version is now unusable for me as I pair the WR1 with an iPad in the car. Please fix this bug. Thanks!

  • Needs a lot of improvements

I love my WR1 dash cam but the is keep crashing and it's not reliable. Also I wish the app could support landscape mode on the live preview .
The wifi transfer is very slow.
