Cant use app

I cant get past the “enable location services” screen. Location services is enabled for the app. I cant access app support - it just takes me to where Im stuck. I cant access my community through city parks link - it just takes me to where Im stuck. I cant even skip.

Hello, and sorry about the issue you’ve run into! If you don’t mind, please reach out to support@outerspatial.com so we can dig into what’s going on. Another option is to uninstall and reinstall the app.

Can’t search

I’m trying to find all the sections for the SF Crosstown Trail. Having trouble finding them.

Clumsy and not exhaustive

There are so many map apps out there, and this is one more that does not impress. If you like mountain biking or hiking Trailforks is hard to beat. Avenza is nice as well. It feels like outer spacial is doing too much, and nothing well.

Response from developer

Hello ErikMTB, with the support of our organization partners, we're working hard to make OuterSpatial more than just a "map app" because you're right: there are many of those out there already. Over time, our maps will, of course, improve and become more useful, but we're ultimately focused on building a mobile experience that's inclusive and helps every one, no matter their skill level or interests, have a better outdoor experience. Please bear with us as we continue to grow. We think you'll like where we're headed!

Five stars for effort, however…

Downloaded to use for the new & amazing Crosstown Trail in San Fran, and am very appreciative that both the app and the trail exist due to the selfless hard work of some very lovely people.

This is not an in-depth evaluation, just a hot take. The app is quite attractive. However the app is also a bit confusingly organized, and a bit glitchy (it has repeatedly crashed on two clean & updated devices).

I’ll add more specifics soon.

Hi Yowzoe, we'd love to hear more about what's confusing and acting glitchy for you. We work hard to make OuterSpatial as usable and stable as possible, and your feedback could help us tie up some loose ends! Could you send more detail about your experience to support@outerspatial.com? Thanks!

Bad app

Useless for actual hiking. The highly touted San Francisco Crosstown Trail is not even listed.

Needs improvement

Today I downloaded this app to bike the SF Crosstown Trail. I encountered two related issues:
1) after a certain period of inactivity with the app, when I reopen it it takes maybe 20 seconds to go through a sequence of updates, downloads and stuff.
2) once done waiting for that stuff to complete, it will dump me back to the home screen, not where I was, so I have to search for the trail and click through. I probably did this 15 times today. The app should reopen where I left it. I ended up occasionally adding a series of points to google maps so I had something to follow that wouldn’t disappear.

Hi JonRWilson, based on your feedback, the 2.5.0 build, which went out about a month ago, included support for state restoration. So basically, if iOS closes the app while it's in the background to preserve memory on your device (which happens quite often), the app now opens back to the screen you were previously on. Hope this helps, and please keep the feedback coming!

Total rubbish - hangs and eats your battery

I downloaded this app for the SF Crosstown Trail. It just hangs while loading, ended up crashing 3 times while just loading images and whatever else it was trying to get. Then the battery dropped 20% in less than 3 minutes just using the map and scrolling like I would do in Google Maps. What a joke.

Thanks for the feedback and we’re very sorry you’ve run into these problems. Obviously your experience with the app is far from the one we aim to provide. That being said, we’d love to hear more about your setup. Which device are you using? What version of iOS? Do you experience crashes and/or battery longevity issues with other apps? We’ve worked hard to ensure OuterSpatial performs well on all the configurations we support, but we can always improve and obtaining more detail about your specific case would be really helpful! If you’re willing to provide more detail, please reach out to support@outerspatial.com.

Happy Hiker!

I’m just downloading the app no..I haven’t even opened it yet..but living in the vast wilderness known as Alaska we are usually dead last to get this kind of app..I’m so excited

Like it!

I downloaded this app because the CA state park I was visiting said it was being tested. So I gave it a try. I probably didn’t use it to its full ability. I’m a map geek and really liked the map part. Keep in mind, we drove into an area without cell coverage and the only part of the map we could see is where we had zoomed into from earlier in the day. I like that it keeps showing my location even when not in cell service area.

A bug: I have to tap the icon 3 times before it will open. I tried to locate tech support contact info and couldn’t find anything inside the app. In the App Store there is a link to a website but again, couldn’t find any contact info.

I don’t see the utility

This is a very awkward app. I honestly can’t see how I would use this as an avid hiker. It’s just not useful. Deleted.
