Don’t be fooled, not free
Everything in the App Store info seems to indicate this is a free app. I got halfway into to recording my lines for the show I’m currently in and it prompted me with a message that I only had two more free recordings (I.e., scenes) and then I would have to buy a subscription, which felt deceptive and was enormously frustrating after the work and time I had put into recording my scenes up to that point.
I’m not a pro with a business budget for this kind of thing. I do community theater once or twice a year. There should be a free version supported by ads or something as an option for amateur actors.Show less8805MB

Thank you for your feedback. I'm sorry you were surprised by the prompt about a subscription; I'm certainly not trying to fool anyone. The intention is that anyone should be able to download the app for free and make up to 10 recordings, which in many cases is enough for a full project (depending on length, the size of your part, etc.). With that start, each person can decide if they find the app helpful and if it's worth considering a subscription. The price is kept low, precisely to keep the app accessible to actors of all levels, from professional, to amateur, to student. This app has everything you would need as an actor. It has great options, the fact that you can play recordings of your lines and queues, meant I could literally be rehearsing wherever I go. I could do it on the train, on the bus, anywhere!

Loving how easy to use this is- just record yourself reading your script (or the whole cast at a read through if possible!) remembering to press and hold the big button when you speak your own part. Various different ways of playback then help to remind and test you. And it works when I’m in the car too, plays thro my speakers. Ability to reorder your recordings or put them in files makes playback easier. 10 free recordings of up to 15 mins each mean you can probably use the free version for at least one full play, if you are careful with your recording! I have happily subscribed as I’m going to find this very helpful for more than one play.Show lesshellywellybobs

Finding “Run Lines With Me” has been a really quick easy way to learn my lines, I love the different ways of playing the recordings back, leaving the gaps when it’s your line and then repeating it to make sure you’re correct is great. No more recordings and leaving a gap when it’s my line and making the gap too long or worse, too short. It also means you can just learn your lines by yourself, not having to make others read the lines with you. Really easy too use too.Show lessJACKSON-JONES

I thoroughly enjoy using this. I would however suggest that adding an edit button to change it afterward would be a good idea; saves recording a whole thing again. I would also add a text to speech function, possibly even a synthetic voice generator to help make simulated recordings. I can’t express how much I love this app! I learned a whole scene in 10 minutes OFF BY HEART with this app! And with the subscription it’s only £1.99 for 3 MONTHS! I know this sounds like a fake review but it’s not.

I just downloaded this app to rehearse my lines for the next school play. It’s super super helpful and really convenient, but I can’t pay for the subscription, and I don’t really want to anyways. But that’s not my biggest issue. I recorded 9 times, realized I should be doing a different process for recording, and deleted all of my recordings, thinking I’d still have the 10 free ones because I deleted all of mine. Instead, the app said I only had one free recording left, even after deleting all of them. I deleted the app and redownloaded it to see if it was a glitch but that didn’t work. I don’t know if it is a glitch or just a stupid part of the app but either ways I feel like I just wasted my time recording all of those lines just for me to not be able to fix it or make up for the lost time. And now I can’t record ANYTHING at all because it says I’ve used all of my free recordings even though I have nothing recorded. Again, awesome app and concept, absolutely hate that you have to pay, especially as someone whose younger and has no way of paying for the subscription.Show lessAnime_Neko04

If it didn't work this way, it would be trivial for anyone to use the app indefinitely without subscribing. However, the goal is for everyone to have a fair chance to use the app for free long enough to decide if they feel a subscription is worth the price. I’ve tried various help to learn lines apps and have found this to be the best
It is extremely user friendly and deals with your lines exactly as you would wish
You just read through the relevant scene including all parts and press button each time it’s your lines
You then have 4 options: straight playback, playback with pauses put in for you to speak, the same but faster playback and finally playback at speed with just the pauses for you to fill in.
You can make a folder for each act and have the different scenes within each one

Nice interface. Does everything you want in a simplified form EXCEPT there’s no option to play back the scene, with your lines removed, at normal speed - only as a speed run. I don’t get it. Why wouldn’t you have that option? Yes, a speed run is useful but so is working at the pace that you are likely to run it on stage - that way you can also practise gestures and stage business. Pity. Your request is not uncommon, and there's good news: you can now do just what you suggest (playback with gaps, no repeats, at normal speed) using Advanced Controls. If you are a subscriber, you can go to the Settings screen to turn on Advanced Controls. Then when you play back a recording, you'll see independent controls for playback speed and behavior of your lines. Hope this helpful. Cheers!Just what I was looking for!
I’m not usually someone who would write a review for apps. However, this app is seriously mind blowing. I’m an actress who has to memorize a ton of lines within a short period of time. I always struggled with them because I wanted someone to read the cues for me. I browsed through several apps trying to find something that would do this for me. And this was by far the best one I have found. It’s great because there are multiple settings to choose from. I personally like having the pause to say my line. It also allows you to review your lines a LOT more. I will turn on the recording and listen to my lines while coloring, or other activities. So now I’m much more prepared. No worries! You can organize your recordings into folders which is so helpful! You can also label each individual recording. The other thing I love is how affordable the price is for a full subscription. Most apps like these are unreasonable with their prices, but this app is great! I 100% recommend for my fellow actors out there.Show lessBumBleBee04*
