  • Very happy with this service

MacPaw have done a fine job with a service that gives a helping hand when I need it. Not as extensive as the version for macOS, but then it doesn’t need to be. Very impressed.

  • Not smart enough to be helpful

this app helped me delete maybe 30 unneeded photos out of a gallery of over 7,000. The only category I trusted enough to click “Delete all” was duplicates, but other than that I needed to manually sort through each category and select the photos I actually wanted to keep. It also put a bunch of personal videos that I took using my current phone into a folder called TikTok, despite the fact I’ve never even downloaded TikTok. I really wish it let me sort my videos by size since that’s the only thing I really wanted to do with this

  • Just crashes on big photo libraries

I’m unable to run this now at all - it starts … displays the splash screen and then the app crashes. I’d guess it’s because I have a lot of photos on my phone 130k of them. I have done the usual (turn off on phone … reset … uninstall .. reinstall )

Gemini photos was great. This isn’t. The very first version of the 2.0 stream I managed to run a couple of times and it totally lost my trust - automagically suggesting I delete images based upon their source rather than the content. In desperation to reclaim some storage I tried again to run the app that’s when I discovered the newer fixed versions no longer start at all

  • Ruined a great app

Clean My Phone used to be Gemini, and Gemini was great. It was super easy to see groups of similar images and keep only the best ones. It also has good suggestions for photos you might not want to keep, like screenshots and blurry photos. There were a few improvements that could have been made, but it was a favorite app of mine.

Then it changed to Clean My Phone, and the app lost its way. I was on the beta test, and I hated it. The app became so convoluted with its wording and added in extra features that the app didn't need (like internet speed checks). The whole basis of cleaning up duplicate and unwanted photos has been lost. It's not simple to choose the best of a bunch, navigation is awful, and the wording used no longer makes sense!

I could go into details, but now I’m just sad that I have effectively lost the app I used to love. This app store page still has reviews from when it was Gemini, which is also angering. I miss it so much.

  • A shell of its former glory

This used to be by far the best (most reliable, effective, easy-to-use, and actually fun) app for decluttering the photo library. It has been completely redesigned to become a “cleaning solution” that is inefficient, cumbersome, feature-poor and nowhere close to the old experience.

  • Bring back the old Gemini

I was getting into the habit of using the old Gemini almost daily. I can’t do anything I want to with this new version. It’s useless to me. Please please please bring back the similar photo feature. I loved that I could remove similar photos from within the app and if I got out of the app and went back in a few days later, it remembered where I was up to and what I had already selected to keep/remove. I haven’t cancelled my subscription yet but if there’s no major improvement soon, I will be cancelling.

  • Dumb transition

When this was Gemini, the interface to organize my photos and remove duplicates was great. It was intuitive. It was fast. I dealt with hundreds of duplicate quickly.

Then they decided to rework it, and this thing is a disaster. it is not intuitive to use in any way shape or form. Figuring out where to go to find duplicate pictures is nowhere near streamlined enough as it should be given that this was the purpose I have this app in the first place.

I don’t want any of the other feature that were included. I was there for a specific purpose and they have broken that.

  • The five star reviews are the old app

You might look at the reviews and think this is a good app. However, they’re from the old Gemini app, which was amazing. You can see if the dev updates that as soon as 2.0 rename arrives, the reviews drop to one star.
With Gemini (pre v2.0), you went through a list of similar photos and picked the ones you wanted to keep (Gemini would have already made a selection). V2.0 app wants to delete everything based on which app it came from. I had saved photos from Whatsapp and so I thought maybe there’s a secret file somewhere but when I let the app delete it, it was the only copy of the photo! (I just restored after, so no harm done) - but if I’d trusted the app, thousands of unique photos would have been delete for no reason other than it was saved from an app. I don’t recommend trusting this app, it’s heaps more work to use than it should be.

  • What can I say other than nice try!

The app turned out to be exactly what expected you grant it complete access to your photos and it wants to delete all your screen shots and asks you to then pay almost $30 the cost to delete a few photos comes at the heavy price tag of granting it access to your entire library and then it wants to test your network and back up all your photos. But best kart yet is the name Gemini. Just so happens to be exactly what my phone is named not the one I downloaded the app on but same account so effectively ironic. I had some other app problems the other day totally unrelated but buyer be ware if developer the proliferation of AI ,read the fine print and then decide if you photos are really private ever and live your life. • So much worse

What a disappointing update when I only just bought Gemini. This was not the app I paid for, it does a much poorer job of finding duplicates and makes it 10 times as hard to actually clean up your photos. Every time any photo is deleted it’ll pop up with an annoying stats page you have to dismiss. Again and again. It doesn’t even sort videos anymore, just photos. This makes sorting through photos a chore, I’d rather just clean up my photos manually.
