  • So easy and efficient to use!!

Just started using this app, I have 16,000 photos on my phone that I needed to go thru and delete and this app has already made it so much easier! For example all those lecture notes I took photos of 2 years ago but don’t need anymore it found them all and I could just press delete!

  • Good app but you have to pay

This app would be a dream if u could have all features unlocked and not needing to pay... it totally helps you unclutter photos you don’t need but then if u want to delete them u have to pay... so your back to the beginning! :(

  • So far so good...

Makes cleaning up stuff so easy. I reckon I’m going to move photos back into my phone to do this to my thousands of holiday photos!

  • Awesome app. Not a fan of pay structure

Using the free three days then canceling Would’ve easily paid a value equal to 2-3 months of the subscription. But considering I won’t own anything in the end I’m just gonna use it quickly for 3 days and delete it. Which is a bummer for the developer cause they’ll get nothing from me instead of some money. It’s a great app and I’m loving what it does. I would’ve gladly paid for a full version. (Just not $15 for a full version. Sorry)

Still rating 5-stars cause the actual app is great. Easy to use. I recommend you try it out if you have a ton of photos like me.

  • Good idea. Unfortunately very hit & miss at the moment.

I’ve used many of their Mac apps, so thought I’d give this one a try, as it tries to remedy a problem faced by most of us - we shoot a lot of similar photos which we then struggle to weed out.

The user interface is well designed, and the apps runs very fast without any crashes. Unfortunately, the automated “Best result” functionality is not at all smart. It frequently groups photos of completely different subjects together, just because they were shot at the same time. Actually, photos that were NOT shot at the same time do not appear to get grouped, even if they show virtually identical subjects. It also does not seem to care whether photos are blurry. As a result, I cannot trust the app to automatically go through my photos and identify the best ones - I still have to do this manually.

As I can do the same in the photos app, minus the nice user interface, I think this app is overpriced. Once the algorithms actually work and save me time sorting through my photos, I will happily pay the asking price, but for now I have deleted the app.

  • Almost cool

I was really excited to find this app! I have several of MacPaw’s apps, and I was needing something like this. But there is one glaring problem (kind of two). It doesn’t allow for you to either adjust how close you want it to match similar items, or doesn’t have an “exact” and “similar” difference. Sure it would be nice to remove similar photos, but what about just duplicates. I have no way to adjust that. I found one app eventually that I use now. It has a section for exact duplicate photos, then one for similar, and you can set how similar you want them to be before they show up on the list. I also felt like the “best photo” algorithm didn’t work too well. I saw too many poor photos being picked as the one to keep. It would try to get rid of the HDR photos, ones where people are actually looking at the camera (and try to keep the one where they aren’t) and even tried to say the same background, but different people were similar photos, and try to delete one of them. It turned out to be too risky to even try it, so I went with the other app.

Hey, Blair West! Lots of thanks for your detailed review 🙏🙏🙏, which is a huge help. We'll definitely consider implementing such features & fixing the issues.
  • Falsely advertised

Why on Earth would I pay 4$/month for cleaning up my photos on my phone? Besides, you download it thinking it’s free, and then the first thing that pops up is the price models...

Hi, misslpilon, we're sorry you felt misled by our ad. The app is free to download and has a free version because you can clean out the clutter from your photo library: screenshots, photos of text, and blurred pics anytime you want. Thanks for letting us know our wrongs, we'll try to fix them.
  • The tool that should be standard

It really should be standard functionality in the iPhone itself to delete ALL photos, but this tool does the job for you. Although I had to try it a few times before I finally got the message that all photos had been deleted. It took a few hours to delete 8000 photos.

The lack of functionality to not be able to control my photos is a big reason for my next phone NOT to be Apple.

  • Seems great, but won’t let me deleted “similar?”

This seemed great at first, I was decluttering my 30k photos, except most of these were under the similar category. I can delete from clutter no problem, but for some reason in similar no matter how I try to select photos to delete it keeps telling me I have none to delete, even if I go through and select them all by hand!! Idk if anyone else has had this problem but it’s super frustrating and makes the app useless. It worked at first but when I tried to delete a group of about 8K photos it would just show that it was loading for a long time, stop, and nothing would change.

  • Minor tweaks and it would be 5 stars

So far I’ve been extremely impressed with Gemini Photos. Having used Gemini on my Mac, I was already aware of how powerful Gemini could be. The main area for duplication management, like many people is my photo library. This app makes identifying these really easy. The simple layout and selection method makes using it a breeze.

The price, either monthly or lifetime may put some off, which I can understand, but if photo management is very important to you, the. It’s a small price for the facilities this app enables.

The only reason for not giving five stars is a few of improvements I’d hope to see in future versions.

1: Some way if telling me the file name and some other metadata. Some photos appear very similar, but I want to check them before making a call on what to do with them. I know it’s not the ideal situation, but sometimes viewing the images on a Mac will show me what I can’t see on an iPhone.
2: Maybe a way to put selected into an album, rather than deleting the pictures, allowing a final review before deletion.
3: Separate similar photos and exact duplicates. Photos from an event, which lead to multiple similar pictures are grouped despite being distinct from one and other. I understand the reasoning for this group, and it helps with trimming events down, but there’s a big difference in these and exact duplicates.
