Lock & Alert User Reviews

Broken log-in function

I’ll echo what others have written. The log-in function on this app is a mess. I created an account on-line after having issues creating through the app. Was able to navigate on my desk top. Tried to use the mobile app, and could not log on after receiving an error message that my password doesn’t match my user email. No issues logging in on desk top.

It’s negligent (if not grossly negligent) to have this dysfunctional of an app from a company responsible for the credit scores of millions. It’s even more of an issue because it keeps users from being able to freeze credit reports easily. If the past is any measure, the only response will be the same auto-response on other reviews with no real change. I hope I’m wrong.

Unusable

Equifax is a complete disaster, both on their website and iOS app. I’ve been trying for weeks to freeze my credit, and the experience has been beyond frustrating. On the website, I couldn’t even complete the signup process—it constantly failed after entering all my personal information. I finally gave up on the website and decided to download the iOS app, thinking maybe it would be better. Nope. Same issue. After inputting all my information, the app just does nothing.

It’s shocking that a company like Equifax, especially given their history with data breaches, can’t even get the basics right. Being unable to freeze my credit when it’s supposed to be one of their critical services is unacceptable. This company should be ashamed of itself. Equifax, do better. This is a complete failure, and people deserve better security and functionality when it comes to their sensitive financial data.

Does what it needs, with caveats…

This app allows the user to lock and unlock your Equifax report, but does not allow you to place a freeze. While the actions are similar, it should be a simple process to allow a choice of the type of restriction you choose to use, especially since there are free options to freeze or lock from the desktop sites, but apparently only both if you have a paid account.

The signup process in the app is buggy as well. The captcha doesn’t work right on mobile, and I had to sign up at their website, and then log into the app. This app just feels very underbaked.

It just doesn't work

I can log in on the website, but it won't log in on the app. So I tried to sign up instead thinking maybe the all has a different log in. But it keeps giving a Recaptcha error. My phone iOS is up to date. I rebooted and tried again. I logged in on my computer to be sure someone hadn't hacked and locked me out of my own account. It's the app. I'll just log in through my browser. It’s too volatile right now to add more stress to actually trying to keep my identity safe. It is important to know what is going on ASAP.

With the recent leak exposing everyone’s ssn & other info, everyone’s credit should be automatically frozen as the default, and security codes sent to only temporarily lift it for approved credit inquiries.

I Agree With The Others — UPDATE!!

Seeing that the app had been updated, I downloaded it thinking this newest version would work. Unfortunately, it does not. I encountered the exact same log-in issue. How is it that FICO, Experian and Transunion not to mention Credit Sesame, Credit Karma and Nerd Wallet can but Equifax, you can not? This app feels to be a loss cause and that is very disappointing.

Original Review:

Sadly, I have to agree with the other disappointed reviewers. I prefer to use apps vs websites but I decided to register on the website and once confirmed I signed in and looked for a Download Our App or Open in App button but there wasn’t one on the website. I downloaded the app anyway and attempted to sign in but got the same error message three times: the email address and/or password didn’t match, which is impossible seeing how I had literally just opened my account not five (5) minutes earlier. The majority of reviews here are NOT good at all and having experienced the same, I understand their frustration. This is a bad look Equifax but I believe in giving second chances so I’m going wait for a bit, at least through the trial period, and hope the Developers are working diligently to fix the log-in issue and any others that exist. Hopefully these bugs will be squashed soon!!!

Nope

Decided to set up monitoring with all 3 companies as my data had been exposed. Registered for all online and then found they all had apps. Thought it would be handy for quick freeze and unfreeze needs. The other 2 majors companies were a cake walk to log in on their apps using my log in that I had created on their websites. This one was different.
Came on and read reviews (how do the developers not see the need to fix this thing) and found out I had to re-register like a new account on the app. No big deal… tried that. Get to the first page and enter my info then check the captcha box and click the big red button and nothing. No note, nothing missing. Just nothing. So I scroll back to the bottom to click the big red button again and then I get the error message that I have to do the captcha. But the captcha box is already checked and there’s nothing else to do. Closed the app. Did this several times over and over and I’m still no closer to creating an account on the app than I was when I started 4 hours ago. What a waste of time.
Guess I’ll delete this one and use the web page on this company and use the more convenient app for the other two.

The best of the 3 (still terrible)

The app is only an account creation page and a slider, yet somehow has more bugs than the other 2 credit agencies combined. Captcha doesn’t appear (keep hitting continue until the check expires and you have to do it again, then it will work). After account creation it said there’s an account issue and I had to call them (I didn’t, I closed the app and opened it again and it worked). It sent like 10 emails saying credit unlocked upon logging in for the first time ( I didn’t touch the slider at all yet). I did eventually touch the slider, and got an email saying my credit was frozen. Despite all the bugs in their app, equifax is the only credit agency that provided a straightforward path to locking my credit report (probably to restore public trust due to their previous data leaks). The other ones hide the free option behind 5 pages of paid subscription offers to do the same thing. So congrats for being the least bad I guess? Still awful and should be shut down.

No problems here!

Sooo this is my first ever app review. I downloaded this app so many years ago (between 5-8+years??) when I had identity theft. I locked my credit and haven’t touched this app ever since. Now that I want to apply for a new credit card, I first updated this app, then had to reset my password (since it’s been years) and enabled FaceID. Worked like a charm, no glitches, no delays. After reading about how horrible this app was, I was ready for major frustration and thinking I’d never get to unfreeze my credit. But the app gods must be watching because I was able to unlock and then quickly lock it again after applying for a credit card online. I also received an email and a text message each time I unlocked/locked it stating that my Equifax credit report is unlocked/locked. So I guess I’ll try it a few more times in the near future to see if maybe I was just lucky this time considering the majority of the reviews are so horrible.

I didn’t have any issues

I thought for sure I would have issues based off these reviews lol. To be fair, because of the reviews, I signed up on equifax site first. Then I came to the app and logged in, and got in fine. Zero issues the whole process. I hope equifax comes out with an app similar to Experian and TransUnion. That has way more features like fraud monitoring, dark web monitoring, etc. None of the ads though lol.

I didn’t want to write a review. But since the app is doing so bad in reviews and I didn’t have any problems, I felt like I had to do it lol.
