Cannot unlock after locking

User beware. I locked my credit with all three bureaus to help secure myself for identity and credit theft. Now that I want to apply for a new credit card I’m trying to unlock and cannot do so. I called support and the person was less than helpful. Initially he didn’t understand my request and sent me a password reset link. I can log in and don’t need to reset. Then he tells me he’s escalating to the backend team. I asked for an estimated time to resolution and he didn’t know. I asked are we talking hours, days or weeks and he didn’t know what I should expect. Having the ability to lock my account is great. It’s not great that I cannot unlock and cannot apply for credit when I want/need to do so.

Sign up annoying but I hope it will function properly

I just downloaded and signed up for all three of the credit reporting services’ apps and this is the only one that does not recognize and allow you to use an already existing login on the credit service’s website. Yes, you can create your app specific login with the same user name and password but why make a user enter all their personal info to create a login when they already have an Equifax login? I appreciate that apparent simplify of this app and I hope it will work the next time I need to unfreeze my credit report. But the login should be much simpler if you are already an existing Equifax user.

Epic Fail

If I could give this 0 stars I would. Account set up for Equifax. Can’t use Id and password. Now you find out it’s a separate Id and password you set up and enter all your information again. Who designed this? It should be consistent with the seton from the website. Instead the customer has to figure out after you enter your Id and password a couple of times (and it fails) it won’t work that technically your app and website are separate logins. Developers- I suggest you go back to the drawing board and fix that because I have never seen an app work this way. Very Disappointed and extremely frustrated. No wonder not many users have downloaded this app.

The Lock & Alert mobile app and website use the same credentials. Remember though, you can register for more than one account using different emails.

Poorly designed!

I understand by reading other reviews that logins may be different from app to web. I decided to first start with trying to login with my existing account credentials that work fine on the web…no luck…”password and email account combination are incorrect”. I then decided I would just sign up under the app. I used my email address and was great with “account already exists” and could not create an account. This app is a serious joke for a company that is one of the big three.

Bad app by a bad actor

App doesn’t reliably work as indicated when it can work. Additionally, it often reports that servers are down. Doesn’t work if you have Apple “Limit IP Tracking” turned on. It runs a server on your phone at “localhost” to sign in.
Yikes.
The organization’s bad reputation in security circles and with handling consumer data seems warranted. Equifax may be the biggest security risk in your financial life and past breeches and mishandling likely exposed your personal data before. Why would you expect Equifax to make a reliable, secure, usable free app?

Equifax App

This application is a total failure. I login once and it stated I made to many attempts. Then I had to contact Equifax directly and the re had me on the phone for (2) hours didn’t know what he was doing at all. They get paid on how long they have you being on the phone and unlocking my credit report he didn’t what he was doing. Had to report this to consumer credit bureau. And yet I still can’t login and my credit report wasn’t lock for like (2) months. This company need to be deleted and start over with new management and staff cuz they don’t CARE. As of today I still can’t get into my credit report and it a violation of my right plain and simple.

We're sorry to hear that. You can place a security freeze on your Equifax credit report at my.equifax.com.

Worthless

Can’t log in, website says call 7 days a week until midnight. Phone says the close 9 M-F, 6 on Saturdays. Got the settlement, supposed to have free ability to lock and a whole identity theft package. Can’t log in anywhere. Had to unlock on phone. Then, a week later tried to log in to lock it again at 1030, offices closed. Had to freeze (not as good, free option, not what i settled for when you let hackers get my private data!!!!!!) Fix the account, open your offices or change your false office Joe’s, and then, please go out of business and then have a few people responsible for all of this, please go to jail.

Edit: To developer reply, we’ll don’t tell me update your app and website! Lol duh

❤️ this app so easy and quick to use and yes it actually works. Love that this app is still around unlike TransUnion🤬they push out frequent updates to keep the app running smoothly. Overall I’d say for sure download the app and protect your credit from being pulled by creditors/scammers!

Epic fail

I loaded the app and went to create a profile. After several minutes, I received a failure message with the directive to call customer care which is open 8 am until midnight 7 days a week. Well, I called at 8 pm ET and received a message that I needed to call back during normal business hours. The message didn’t even tell when these hours were. Absolutely atrocious customer service. I can’t believe you are actually in charge of credit ratings. Complete trash!

Good app

I believe in giving credit when due. All this app is designed to do is freeze and un-freeze your Equifax credit report easily when you want to.

Normally, you would have to log into a credit monitoring service, and go through several steps trying to figure out how to do it.

With this, it is a button. Freeze / unfreeze. No brainer which is what I wanted. It works. I work at a car dealership which pulls Equifax. I pulled my own credit, and it came up with the alert right after freezing.

If people were looking for more than this, then this is the wrong app for you. I actually wish the other 2 bureaus offer something no-brainer and similar to this. Freeze, and un-freeze. Simple.

Actually, Lock & Alert can easily lock and unlock your Equifax credit report, with certain exceptions, when you need to, and alerts you of your lock and unlock status as well - for free. You can manage a security freeze on your Equifax credit report at my.equifax.com.
