  • Every college grad with loans NEEDS THIS APP

Chipper could not have come at a better time. I graduate in May 2020 and have already started collecting money to begin paying off my loans!! My family has even gotten in on it too! Do yourself a favor and download this app and get ahead of the debt
  • The app works great

I understand that there are some minor bugs but everything works and I’m saving money. Also, the company is continually releasing new versions to fix the bugs.
  • No Fedloan Servicing

Useless app that is probably just stealing money.
  • Glitches

Glitchy app. Not impressed at all.
  • Needed More Than Ever

The college loan repayment process is as complex and financially important as the health insurance market, without any of the public resources for someone to find their way.

Chipper solves that, with clear and detailed advice based on each person’s unique context, framed alongside nuanced presentations of various repayment options.

Then they do one better, and help you get out of debt faster. With round up and boost options you’ll make a big dent in your loans without feeling the pinch in your personal finances. They automate the right decisions, and it makes a world of difference.

  • 1/4 of my debt paid

Chipper helped me pay my accrued interest as I was wrapping up my degree. It gave me a good head start on paying back my loans.

What I love most is the app is the settings. You can set a weekly minimum and maximum.

Being able to set small goals like paying $15 as a week gives me a sense of peace. I know my payments will be taken care of with little stress on my side. It also gives you a good estimate on how soon your loans will be paid based on your minimums and any additional payments you have the option to add.

Seeing years knocked off of my debt, based on my weekly payments reassured me that I can do this. These small payments are stepping stones for something greater.

And the team is fantastic. Questions, concerns are always handled with care.

  • Not secure or compatible with my loan provider

I’d give this app a 0 if I could. TLDR; users cannot close their account by themselves and the app itself is not secure. Avoid like the plague.

After downloading and setting up the app several months ago, I was emailed that my loan provider had a glitch and payments would be delayed. NBD at the time. Months later, and I’m still not able to transfer funds to my loan provider.

Today, I navigated through the unintuitive UI to attempt to close my account. No option exists. I went into the support chat, and before closing, I was forced to go through a survey.

And then something weird happened: someone else was in my chat with the rep, typing as me and saying they didn’t wish their account to be closed! This happened twice! I’m still regret giving them any financial information. I’d suggest everyone delete their information and remove the app ASAP!

Beyond that, the UI is not at all intuitive. There’s hidden menus and bizarre interactions all over the place. UX nightmare all around.

  • Good idea

I love the premise behind this app; round up payments from each transaction to help pay off debt. Works well but I miss the feature where it sends monthly payments rather than weekly. If it sends weekly, at least with my loan, I only goes to the interest and isn’t very helpful. They have some other options though that work well. They debit your account at the beginning of the month and you typically see it hit your loan by the 15th. The chat option has been super helpful as well. The online support has been very informative and while they were still working some bugs out of the system, they reached out to me to let me know that my payment source wasn’t connecting anymore. Overall a good idea to help make a little more progress on loans.

Hi Kailbill, thank you so much for love. We're working hard to make the app better and better every week and have some exciting features coming out soon. I'd love to get your feedback/insight on monthly payments and few other features we're exploring. Shoot me an email (tony@chipper.app) if you're up for chatting.
  • Good idea in concept, but app falls short

I didn’t want to believe the reviews I read about Chipper because someone else’s experience may not be mine, so I downloaded the app. The first thing that caught my attention was having to connect my “funding source” more than once. Not sure why it wouldn’t stay connected. Second, I noticed that the “roundup” wasn’t happening as mentioned in the description of this app-the whole point of downloading it. Lastly, I’ve reached out to support twice over the past few days & no response. Having worked in customer service, I try to give all companies the benefit when reaching out, but all signs are pointing to a faulty app & lack of support. I’m disappointed to say the least. Good in concept, but app falls short. I’m closing my account.

  • Not Good if you’re still in school

Chipper’s staff is very friendly and respond very quick to your support requests (~1-2 hours). The idea for this app is good and helps you put extra change towards your loans, but the fee is way too high for those who are still in school, like myself, and are just trying to pay down the accruing interest. I don’t spend a lot and my roundups reach ~$5/week. If you submit roundups weekly, they charge you 50¢/week. That’s a 10% fee. I’d rather just do the math myself and save the money. I guess this app is good for high spenders, but it’s really expensive if you don’t spend a lot.
