  • Great WaniKani app

This a well made WaniKani app, makes doing reviews on the go a breeze. My only gripe is that you can’t add meaning/reading notes within the app, you can only do it on the website. Could you possible add that as a feature in later updates? Also, the toggle for showing meanings/readings in list mode (the mode that lets you scroll through all of the items on each level) seems to be broken. Other than that, this app is かんぺき!👌 Thank you so much for taking the time to make and update this!
  • Go use this, thanks developer

I started learning Japanese on a whim almost two months ago now and today was the first place I found. I started wanukani but it was only on the computer and then I found this app. I’d have stopped studying Japanese weeks ago without it, I honestly prefer it to the desktop version and it’s interface is so good and addictive I’ve hit two birds by checking flash cards instead of social media lately. Thank you developer!
  • Best app

Probably one of the best and least buggy apps I’ve ever used. Never had an issue with it, and it is fast and responsive. The layout is a bit dated but serves its purpose very well. My only complaint is that it doesn’t show definitions separated by onyomi or kunyomi when doing lessons, which I think would be really helpful since the website does show that.
  • love this app but

I find myself really struggling to read the timestamps on the upcoming reviews graph ever since it changed. Every tenth hour is too wide as i have to stop and count each bar to see when a particular level up is. also the font is now ant-friendly. please scale the bar graph back down.
  • Great app! One suggestion

I only started using wanikani and was sort of disappointed that they don’t have official app. Then I found this and the experience has been great! However, I found that when I almost finish studying kanji of one level before I start to tackle vocab, it just jumped me to another level. This prevent me from seeing when I will have reviews. Is it possible to be finished with everything then jump me to another level? Or is it just a wanikani thing? I’m not sure.
  • Great app, one suggestion.

App has no problems whatsoever. I actually prefer to use this over the actual WaniKani site itself. You can download the voices for offline usage, choose the order the questions show, and even pick some different fonts. There’s a reason that this app is rated so highly.

I just have one suggestion: a similar function to the “oops” button from Bunpro. I find myself mistyping something (“jer” instead of “Jet”/hiragana I meant to use but used another accidentally) and I feel this would really help with that. You can even choose to disable it (or enable it while set to disable by default) if you feel you’ll abuse it.
  • Full featured app, fantastic addition

Takes what wanikani does well and translates it straight to mobile extremely well. Even has options I’ve now found ways to integrate into the desktop version of wanikani.

The only thing I’ve found that I’m not entirely pleased about is when I check a kanji to see its reading, I’d like to see both on’yomi and Kun’yomi readings explained in the information page.

Otherwise, absolutely excellent app and a must have for wanikani users.
  • Love it! Makes using Wanikani even better!

I have a suggestion/tiny complaint but I'll start with the good first: I love this, the amount of options in the settings make having a Wanikani subscription even better! Can't use it without this app! I use an IPad with a pencil and I put this app and a note-taking app side-by-side as I'm studying, so there’s no moving back-and-forth between my device a physical notebook. Now for the suggestion, I would love for an option to be able to have the different readings labelled plainly in the kanji's overview, like: “Kun:もと On:ほん”. instead of just the current system where on'yomi readings are just written in katakana. I often forget, or I don’t process the difference at first when reading them.
  • Great app

Love the app. It takes some of the best WK user scripts and integrates them seamlessly into a intuitive interface.

I would like to see a feature added to the level time average calculation. I have a couple of levels that I went on hiatus during, and I didn’t enter vacation mode. So those mess up the average level calculation. Can you add a way to disregard levels for the estimated level time calculation?
  • Please add notes (editing/adding)

This app has been very helpful since i cant log in to the wanikani app.

The field for our own personal notes exists but it is non-editable. I think adding this capability would be really helpful because you can put your own mnemonics or ways to remember the kanji. A short note vs reading the ones supplied by wanikani (which are longer explanation) each time.

Many times the supplied explanation doesn’t quite stick a meaning into my head and i have to improvise something. It would be nice to be able to add a note to record it.
