  • App gets worse each time I use it

This app started off great but has progessibly gotten worse with each update. Many items available in store will not appear in the app. Simply searching for an item is a pain as the seat bar takes forever to update. The substitution items for many items are downright bizzare. For example, if I am getting That's Smart brand white bread you would think the sub option is another brand of white bread right? WRONG. It only shows wheat bread. Want to substitute Sour Cream and Onion Pringles with another Pringle flavor? Good luck cause it only displays other chip brands that have the sour cream and onion flavor. Also we should have the option to swap a backup item with the main item but that's impossible too. Want paper bags? Not gonna happen. The shopper notes section in the app isn't read until after they check out your order. I actually confirmed this with the store manager so that's basically a useless feature. Anyway I recommend just going to the store or shopping elsewhere

  • App is annoying

I’ve used worse apps, but this one is far from my favorite. It takes way too long to load, and too many clicks to be able to search. There is a search bar on the main page, but you can’t type anything in there to search. Instead it opens another page, which gives you the same search bar, but you have to click on it again and wait for it to open the keyboard.

The Kroger app lets me search immediately, which is the main reason to use the app. The Kroger app also shows me the aisle the product is in in the search results list. The Hy-Vee app makes me open the product page to find the aisle it’s in. The Kroger app also shows if the item is out of stock.

  • S.L.O.W.

This app is so slow it’s almost quicker to just go to the store. Try typing in the search box and it is ridiculously laggy, missing letters if you go too quickly. And they are throwing this perks nonsense in your face by making it seem like you have to sign up in order to use the app. Don’t. Just swipe from left to right and it’ll let you go back. And I can only speak for the Lawrence, KS hyvee but prices are higher most of the time than if you go to target, aldi, or walmart for the same item. And if you want hyvee brand items they could be more expensive than the name brand items! Who would be more for store brand over name brand? An example: birds eye broccoli florets are $2.99 (still expensive for the area) but the hyvee brand for the same size of bag is $3.49. Save some time and money and look before you shop. Your wallet will thank you.

  • Ran into a small issue

Thursday I shopped at HyVee and bought a $13 steak and 4 pouches of lemon pepper salmon @ $1.59 each. I paid for them and have the receipt but they didn’t end up home with me.

My guess is that they ended up sent home in the groceries of the individual who came immediately after me. I called and was told I needed to return either then or the next day and someone would attempt to help me. My round trip to HyVee is a bit over 30 miles and I wasn’t able to immediately return nor was I able to return the following day due to previous commitments. This was actually not the first time this has happened to me but it never amounted to much previously and I simply wrote it off.

I have an issue with some of your young packers. The older women (who likely have done a lot of grocery buying generally do a good job but your younger packers are inexperienced and don’t realize when they for instance pack potatoes and bananas on top of eggs (which I have had happen) the shopper ends up with broken eggs or when they don’t take care, another shopper ends up missing groceries she’s paid for and another shopper is likely surprised by additions she or he didn’t select or buy.

  • Update fully broke the app

As mentioned by many other people, this app poorly functions on a good day. The last update fully broke the app. It’s able to get to the home screen, however, the search function gets stuck on continuous loading screen rendering it useless. Trying to add recently purchased items to cart from the buy again screen doesn’t work. When I click the add to cart button nothing changes, and the cart remains empty. When you go to check your cart you get the error “oops something went wrong.” Agree with others saying it is pretty ridiculous that the app has functioned so poorly for so long. The ability to do grocery pickup is the only reason I shop at HyVee. If the app problems don’t get fixed soon, I’m going to have to switch to instacart and shop elsewhere. I imagine others will as well.

  • Not winning my love

This app is awful. It requires extremely frequent updates, which is concerning from a data privacy and spyware perspective among other reasons. The item listings do not reflect merchandise currently available in a particular store when searching by specific location, rendering it much less useful than many grocery store apps. I've driven to various Hy-Vees for items the app said they carried which my local store didn't and found those items to be out of stock or not carried at all. The app doesn't improve my shopping experience, especially since it virtually always requires an update before I can do something as simple as look up a sale or weekly ad. Knowing the awful political contributions this company habitually makes provides all the more reason to shop elsewhere.

  • app layout

Old app : I don’t know if it’s true for the new app but on the old app the specials were not all listed together by category which made it difficult to maneuver through talking a long time to find what you wanted. It would be great to have all dairy items listed together and personal hygiene, products and lunch together. And so forth.

New app: You have to download each of the perks plus specials that used to already be there. When I first signed on the app today that I’ve been using for practically two years or whatever new information was right in my face, not explaining what the perks was versus the perks plus if it was gonna cost me more money or what was going on.

Two Customer Service people didn’t even know how to maneuver through the app to find the monthly versus weekly perks plus deals versus having them all up together with all the other deals. They had not been told if monthly specials were just not available for April or if they were gone forever.

There’s a list of most recent discount items I’ve purchased, but there’s not a list of most recent items I’ve purchased that are not discounted so that I can just easily re-purchase those items too

  • It’s the little things… App Refresh?!?!? Grrrr

This one is 100% on the developers. There are ways to do things and ways to not do things. When you give people a long list of “deals”, it’s probably a good idea to not annoy them endlessly by refreshing the list and starting over at the top repeatedly.

I’m sure it’s a simple fix, but we’re going on or two years of that behavior. I don’t leave reviews very often, but since you just made us all switch, from one “perk” account to another, with absolutely zero benefit to us… probably because you switched a vendor or something. Maybe stop doing the stuff that actually drives users crazy. Your prices are high enough as it is, we have to use the app to even make it competitive.

  • Lazy Workers

You might find the delivery service convenient until the person shopping for you brings half the items you request. They don’t bother to tell you things like if you order early they won’t get meet because the department is closed. Sometimes I get someone who will text me and try to work with me to get similar items, other times I get someone lazy that will just say they don’t have it. The lazy ones usually won’t respond to my messages etc. It’s the same story you get with any business, but for the extra 20 dollars in charges I would rather just drive up there and shop myself, at least then I know that I’ll get what I came for not half the stuff for enough money to pay for three meals. Be smart and don’t waste your money so someone else can be lazy.
