Incomprehensible App
The menu is a mess. It's the one thing that should make sense. Extremely difficult to select your type of bagel sandwich. Modifying is a nightmare. You click on 'bagels' and there's no button to add to cart. There are search prompt bubbles at the top in place of a traditional menu so now uncommon items are impossible to find. For some reason they think the most popular thing you should be viewing are deals for groups and bagel boxes. But you can't customize them. The icons at the top for food are now silhouettes and one of them looks like the mustache from the Pringles can guy. The whole app is unfocused trash. You click on the coffee icon and all that shows up is 'coffee for the group' and single hot coffee. It's extremely annoying. As though the developers have never tried it themselves before releasing it. You can just feel the contempt for customers oozing from every sad and frustrating feature in this app.

Too difficult to order on line
My preference is to order at the bakery... that way you can SEE what kinds of bagels they have readily available. It is difficult to order say for instance, the bakers dozen and choose which 13 bagel flavors you'd like. I have tried and even went inside to have the clerk assist and she couldn't successfully do it. Also to redeem my free coffee from the previous Months purchase (which is an ongoing perk), you have to order on line. Since I wasn't successful submitting an online order, and neither was the clerk, I wasn't even able to get a free cup of coffee. This isn't the first time it's happened. Don't know the issue, nor do the employees. Frustrated!

Needs a lot of work.
Please improve the app so it allows you to have the same opportunities to customize your food the way you do when you order in the store.
Most importantly, offering the option to select a backup bagel in case the one you chose is sold out would be a huge improvement. It’s not that difficult, just add one more dropdown and name it backup option. It’s so disappointing to pick up your order and find out they used a plain bagel without giving you the chance to pick a replacement for the one that was sold out.
Lastly, the interface is poorly designed and confusing to navigate. It’s very easy to miss your options as the scroll bars that go left and right were an incredibly poor decision. Just make all options a drop down menu like any other app your order food from. The whole app needs a huge ux/ui facelift.

Big yes, little no
I love the ease of using the app. I only recently downloaded it and it’s been working great for me. What I don’t like is how much money you have to spend to get rewards but that’s more of an inflation thing. I know that einsteins used to do a bakers dozen on Mondays for a fraction of the cost but that is not advertised the way it used to be. I went into a store and asked the associates there and they told me of some stipulations I needed to meet before being able to purchase that which is a big change from what it used to be. Before (like 6 years ago) you could walk in on Monday and just order. Now, as I am told, you have to have the app and make a purchase through the one month prior in order to get the bakers dozen discount. Kind of a bummer :/ also not as cheap as it used to be but what is now a days.

Fake reviews?
Based on the timing and similarity of recent reviews it seems that there are a lot of fake ones coming through to try to dilute the customer complaints about the app. Most of these reviews are reviewing the company itself, not the app.
I love Einstein’s so much. Their bagels are delicious and affordable. However, the Einstein’s app is one of the worst food ordering apps I’ve ever used. The fact that you can’t leave a note on your order to specify modifications or allergies is crazy to me. Also, there are many things you can order in store but not in the app. Finally, for the past few weeks I have not been able to see my rewards. I keep getting the error message “Uh oh! Our systems haven’t had their coffee, so we can’t get your reward information. We promise it’s temporary. You can still use your mobile app to check-in and pay”. It is NOT temporary because it has been weeks that it’s been like this. I’ve received a birthday reward for years and was really looking forward to getting myself Einstein’s today on my birthday. However, since the app does not work properly, I’ll have to skip this year! I’ve always had issues with the Einstein’s app, but now that I can’t even use my rewards, it is getting deleted and I’ll be getting bagels elsewhere.

Delish
On this day, we ordered the ham and cheese on an everything bagel and the bacon and egg on the six cheese bagel and it was delicious. We ordered it on the app and when we got there unfortunately they were out of the plain bagel which is why we got the six cheese. Michelle greeted me when I got there and told me there was no more plain bagels unfortunately. She was very nice and made sure my order was prepared fresh. I was very happy with the six cheese bagel that we chose. We try to come as often as we can as we do not have a Einstein bagels in Bulverde where we live and this location is the closest to us being at 16 to 20 miles. But we travel here regularly because it’s so good and the service is outstanding. Michelle gets a 10 out of 10 along with her staff. we also ordered a strawberry banana smoothie and it was delicious.

Crooks! Paid $40 on the App…
Einsteins had a special back in May via their app where I could get a $50 gift card for just $40
I did this on May 20, 2024 and never got the gift card!
I completed the transaction using my Einsteins App. One of the questions it asked was who the gift card was for; myself or someone else. I clicked the option that said it was for myself. Well, they took my money but I never got the $50 gift card. ($40 I had paid, nor the $10 bonus.) I paid using Apple Pay and have the proof! I have contacted them THREE times to resolve this matter! I have never gotten a response. The store can’t help because they don’t have access to app stuff. There is no phone number I can call because they have moved to an “email only support model”. I am disabled and have very low income. Spending $40 and getting $50 in gift card was a good deal that would allow me to have a treat once a month… and would have lasted me quite awhile. Now I am out $40 and Einsteins does not care!

Miss the indoor seating
I used to have a weekly breakfast meeting at Einstines with 4 other guys. Now we have to eat a Penera. I would also go 1 to 2 times to prepare for my Saturday morning Mens bible study. Einstines was always my go-to place whenever I wanted to meet someone for breakfast or lunch. I might be able to do so a little bit when the weather gets better and we can sit outside, but it is not the same. I also have several pictures of my kids eating there when we would drop our car off for service at a nearby station. And I can still picture people enjoying a quick breakfast before sports or heading up the mountain to go skiing. Sometimes the line would be out the door. Anyway, Please consider reopening the lobby for dine in. It is such a big part of my ministry of meeting with people and I have so many fond memories.
