Works well except not with solar

Solar feature doesn’t send to work right. Not sure if it’s because im measuring the backup battery sub-panel circuit breaker which is behind the main outside circuit breaker for the Tesla solar system with two powerwalls but I’ve tested in the evening without solar as well as during the day with solar but it’s not changing the mains values. I have to also use a -1 multiplier in order to get values correct. They have good phone and email support too and so I still recommend them

Fix your app

Giving it a zero stars today. Everything had been working fine till lately. All the numbers are lies. It used to perfectly match the power companies numbers now i open the app and the home values are completely different than graph values. The numbers keep changing too for past days. It has become totally unreliable. What did you guys do?? Your database must be messed up. Your graph page is full of bugs. How can you show completely different numbers on home page vs graph page for each different submeter and the main meter. The balance line also needs a graph. Need to know what the balance was for past days and months. Why you still dont have such option i dont understand

Needs push notifications.

Works well for logging. Would really like push notifications for when something is over or under aspecified wattage for a specified amount of time. For my well pump.

Awesome start

Love the insights I am getting about my electricity consumption
Unbeatable price for the hardware
Great start for the app ... loads of features can be added ... actual rating 3 stars + 1 bonus for possibilities will be 5 when it becomes feature rich

Issues

Watt reading is highly inaccurate. I can only read the total watts from the graph page, the main page shows 0w.

The graph page never lets you scroll to the current time, when you scroll too far to the right it snaps back to the beginning.

There is no diagnostic information. What is the signal strength? is the device online? What is the serial number? What sensors are connected? What version is it running? Does it upgrade firmware automatically?

Best value power monitor system!

The kit & app were easy to install. I got exactly what I need from this app. Not only support has been responsive and helpful, they listen and constantly add useful features to app.

Great Product

The following features would make the app much more usable:

1. Always show the kwh along with amp or cost on the home page

2. Allow the user to tap on the monthly cost section and choose a previous month. Basically allow the user to see the usage data for any month.

3. Show the total hourly or daily usage on the graph based on user’s choice.

Thank you!

Good App, hardware and support!

App keeps getting better! Last update included Amps unit! Hardware is best value on the market right now. My power panel is a long way from my router so the hardware would not stay connected. After working with Marty in customer support, it was determined that my Wi-Fi was too weak at that location. I independently verified this diagnosis with WiFi SweetSpot app and worked to upgrade my network. I tried a couple of Wi-Fi repeater/extenders but they still caused connectivity issues. I resolved all connectivity issues when adding Xfinity XFi Pods (mesh). Mesh is the way to go. Solved connectivity issues I had with a remote Ring doorbell also.

I use two of the eight current sensors to monitor the power supplied by my 16 Kw Generac whole house standby generator. Since it auto starts, when we are not home, I can now see when and how long the generator ran. It would be useful if emporia could ID generator sensors, send an alert when power supply transfers to the generator and allow an alternative energy cost (based on natural gas cost & generator efficiency) when the generator runs.

I look forward to future improvements!

Update is a complete mess

Was really looking forward to the ability to monitor 240v circuits but the update fell flat on its face. Now I have data points showing usage below zero and constant activity on circuits that are drawing no power 🤦‍♂️

Software and data issues

This device has really bad accuracy. Per my calculations this is between 6-7% off from my utility meter.

Also this app has several issues that the developer hasn’t fixed like date/time innacuracies and overall lack of features compared to competition
