Works to save, kinds

I’ve been a user for about two years now. The app is great for saving, but there are some things you should know. It is very slow and although customer service is quick to respond, they don’t really provide follow-up or solutions. For the past month I’ve been trying to transfer into the Guac app and every transfer has been canceled and I’ve been in touch with them multiple times yet. There is no solution and they keep telling me the same thing. Another thing you should know is that the app is designed to take a percentage of your choosing out of everything you spend to transfer, but sometimes that won’t happen for a week and then you’ll be deducted a large amount from your bank account. If you don’t have a cushion in your bank account, you will be overcharged and you will get an overdraft fee, which has happened to me quite a few times. The app does help you save which it just helped me saved, but it is frustrating and glitchy when it comes to options and customer service.

Thank you for your comments and we greatly appreciate your feedback. The cancelled transfers are initiated by your connected bank (financial institution) typically because of low balances in your connected checking account. Thank you for your comment on larger transfers and this should not happen as each savings is generated daily. Please reach out to support@guacapp.com so we can look into your specific case and get this corrected immediately.

Awesome Customer Support

I never use any money apps bc most are spam or sell your information to receive spam. I signed up for Guac a little over a month ago just to try to save a little without having to think about. I saved up some money and had issues with my account trying to transfer some funds. I called the customer support number yesterday and was greeted by an actual HUMAN that spoke very clearly and actually helped me out. Hats off to Guac and their support team!

Review

I have tried to give an open and honest review several times but somehow it never shows up. Let’s see if this attempt does. The concept of the app is incredible however the execution and blatant lies in the fine print are pretty mind blowing. I guess businesses now online or not forget how much word of mouth really spreads. The so called “customer service” I spoke with was not only rude but extremely condescending. Might I add even though he spoke to me as if I was a 5 year old I had still already done everything he was telling me to do. He couldn’t know that though because he wouldn’t stop running his cake whole to let me speak! I know in his mind I’m one single person and he’s right however ALOT OF PEOPLE IN OUR HISTORY HAVE BEEN LONE SOLDIERS and accomplished quite a bit. So keep that in mind you condescending, facetious and unprofessional “customer service” representative. Shame on you for being so ugly

We apologize for your less than excellent experience. We pride ourselves on our customer support and will work with our staff to do much better. At Guac we take pride in being one of the only apps that provide U.S based live phone customer support.

Used to be good

This app used to be free, easy to use, and worked great. It was a convenient way to save a little money here and there without having it hurt your wallet. However, they have been making changes over the last year that have resulted in a variety of app glitches, lockouts, etc. which is concerning when you are struggling to access your own money. It takes their customer service department days to get back to you and the response is almost always irrelevant to the issue or question you’re asking. They’ve also created a new membership class and started charging monthly fees for features you used to be able to get for free. I moved all my money out and am cancelling.

Thank you for your comments and we have added credit monitoring & building, money hacks to create more purchasing power and additional cash back rewards. This was direct asks from our users to continue to help them build their financial wellness. We do have a new subscription Guac Gold that offers $300 of value for just $4.99 a month and you can try risk free for 30 days. If you decide you would not like to use Guac Gold you can always downgrade to Guac Green that does not have a subscription fee.

SCAM

This is a SCAM. My bank looked into it and they are not legitimate. On my previous review they responded with a bunch of lies as they are likely doing with every review here. They have no overdraft protection at all. They cost me hundreds of dollars in overdraft fees. They didn’t put a stop to anything and overdraft my account by FIVE HUNDRED DOLLARS. They also didn’t let me delete my account at all. I had to read through the fine print and the only reason they finally stopped stealing HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS from my account is because I followed the fine print details to the exact letter and could have actually taken them to court for what they scammed me out of if they hadn’t. If you don’t believe me and believe whatever bullsh** reply they try to respond to this with just go to your bank and show them the app. Ask them what they think. This app is a complete grift. They are taking way more from your account than you realize and they have the legal right to do so. You will never see that money again. I almost became homeless because of this app over the summer.

Hello, I believe we have spoken via email and we are here to help. Guac's overdraft protection kicked in at the time your savings was initiated to protect against overdraft opportunities. Your bank also implemented overdraft protection from their end, cancelling your savings deposits with Guac. You can pause any of your savings goals at any time which will immediately pause all savings deposits prior to being initiated. Please reach out to human support line at (949) 992-5707 and we'd be happy to help and speak further with your bank. Guac is FDIC insured and has trusted connections with over 500 banks in the US.

Do Not Use! Terrible service and not a trustworthy system

Getting support through the app, on the phone or by email is difficult. I called 10+ times and no one would answer. When I sent an email, they said to call them, which makes no sense when someone doesn’t pick up. Your funds and round ups pull from your bank account immediately, but take days to show up in the Guac account and getting those funds back to your bank is a headache. I had fraud on my bank information that I originally signed up with them with. Rather than be able to update my current bank information, they said they would have to issue me a check in order for me to get MY funds back that I saved. A CHECK?! The whole thing is very inconvenient and not worth your time. You’re better off manually rounding up your transactions and putting those funds in savings in YOUR OWN bank so that way you always have access to them and they’re not in control by a third party. There is no point in saving up for a rainy day/emergency fund, and then not being able to use those funds for several weeks...waiting for a check to issue?! With technology today that should never have to happen. Customer service was unprofessional, and when I was asking questions to explain how the app worked they made it seem like I was unintelligent because I didn’t know every detail fine print that was listed on their website/app- when I was just asking for clarification of how everything works. Very untrustworthy and I do not recommend to anyone.

I believe you spoke with our live human support line and we were able to complete your request. You are correct that the Auto-Tips Guac sets aside for you happen in real time as you make purchases. It can take between 1-3 business days for your savings to be available in your Guac App as we currently have to utilize standard ACH (We are currently improving speed) But this is why we have the Guac Statement feature that shows all savings, transfers and Cash Back requests in real time. You are correct that we had to issue you a check and this is because of the fraud on your bank account you had connected with Guac. For security purposes we only allow you to use your savings with our marketplace partners or to move that money from your originating bank account. Since your bank account was compromised with fraud we could not move your savings to that bank account so we had to issue you a check with your total savings. We apologize for any inconvenience and we will continue to work to provide the best human support possible.

Thievery and Aloofness

Stole $47 from my account even when there was no transaction that would’ve caused the withdrawal. It’s insane because this was almost everything I had in this account and it led to being overdrawn. Couldn’t buy gas that I needed because of these OC bums. Also never answer their phones despite claiming support hours as 8-7pm. Impossible to get a hold or response from anyone. Do NOT use this app, just use Acorns like a normal person. Filed dispute with my bank but there’s no way to delete your bank account information with them, it’s so scummy. All these people want is your banking info to take whatever they want whenever they please. Will be filing a report with the DOJ, FTC, and BBB. Be vigilant people.

We are here to help and please dial our live human support at (949) 992-5707 as our team will be awaiting your call. The $47 is the savings that Guac set aside for you as you spent. This was the automatic tip you selected when setting up your account. We are happy to walk you through the delete process as you must complete a few steps to ensure you keep all your savings Guac generated (1. Pausing all goals 2. Moving all money to originating bank account 3. Delete from database). This is most likely why you think Guac "Stole" your savings. Guac cannot & does not touch our users money. We only help set aside the automatic tip you selected in a FDIC insured bank account that can only be moved to your bank account it came from our used with one of our partners in the Shop & Earn Marketplace. Please reach out to our support line ASAP so we can get you your $47 of savings.

Saving Away

The app is great, set it up and leave it alone. I have my notifications turned off, so when I open Guac it’s always a pleasant surprise to see all the money I’m saving and didn’t even realize it!

I did however have a delay in a transfer, but when I called the customer service line, Jacqueline was quick to assist me and help resolve my issue.

Great customer service!

When the update happened, I had trouble with my account and couldn’t see my balance. I called their customer service line and spoke with Jacqueline. She was so nice and explained everything that was happening and with the update that caused a little hiccup. She told me she would give me a call back with more info or when the problem was resolved and she did, which you don’t see happening that often these days.
I am newer to the app and she also let me know about the videos to help navigate the system a little better and more information with how to get the most out of my settings.
