  • Great app to teach your kids about scam companies

This app was working great for about a year and then one day the money on my kids debit cards just zeroed out; about $150 just gone. Contacted customer service who will only respond by email. After going around and around and providing all the documentation they requested they said it failed and we could either open a new account or close it. After almost 2 months of trying to recover the $150 they closed the account and will only refund what was on the app and not the debit card. The speed in which they closed the account before we could print any of the transactions showing the money just zeroed out is suspicious. Do NOT trust this company with your money or your kids money unless you are looking to teach them about poor business practices such as these. Try explaining to your kids how their hard earned money just disappeared and the company doesn’t seem to care.

  • Frustrated

Overall, we have enjoyed the app until we started seeing deposits not show up and a really frustratingly unclear process for the new cards sent out. Required 3 calls and multiple transfers. Then my daughter’s card got declined even though it had enough money and was charged. After I emailed, I got two different answers for why (both incorrect) and no refund or offer to fix. I started noticing that I would load money and fees were being taken out of the transfers. Then the Stockpile monthly fees starting hitting. We loved this app until it started burning our money. In pulling the dollars out to switch to Greenlight, it only allowed me to pull it out $100 at a time. Fine, but my bank account shows partial hits of $10, $16, etc. dollars. I have absolutely no confidence of getting my money back in whole. What a shame. Please do better with your great concept.

  • Not a perfect app for some people

Hi, So back when we had first started busykid my kid was all on it but a couple months later around September October we had a problem it had kept malfunctioning which meant she wasn't aloud to use her card and which had got me upset and disappointed. But after the incident which we had called busykid money was took off of her card When she saw she told me and it was $18 dollars and she had $9 she was pretty upset. We didn't like how this had happens so I started looking into this but nobody had taken the money off of her card. And shortly afterwards we decided to stop paying for it and quit using busykid but all her money was back into her new banking. Highly disappointed in the app we had thought it was a good one at first but it wasn't at all.

  • Excellent Customer Service

My son was trying to order McDonald’s via DoorDash and we noticed that he had several 50 Cent charges on the account without a successful order and we figured that was because he was trying to purchase more than he had on his card. We called and Left a message for Busy Kids on a Saturday afternoon and it easy even an hour later when Scott S returned our call and explained that DoorDash didn’t accept this kind of card (thankful for that as well, when you don’t eat your vegetables you shouldn’t be able to order McDonald’s!). Scott S refunded the three dollars in charges my son had incurred from repeatedly trying to order McDonald’s via DoorDash and was willing to speak to my son as well about the fact that it didn’t work. Big thank you, Busy Kids! Well, we think you’re the best app; you’re helping our kids learn to save and donate, overall we are very very happy with busy kids!

  • Difficult to cancel

I do not recommend this app. We used it for the first few months and then we just ended up starting our own system for chores. I tried to cancel as our yearly renewal was about to charge within the next 2 weeks. The only way that you can cancel is by emailing them. I sent them an email weeks ahead of time. I actually deleted the card on file as it is an account that we no longer use. They still charged me for it and charged it to the old bank account which made us get an overdraft fee. I emailed them again. They said that it should’ve been cancelled the first time I emailed them and they apologized and offered to refund everything but still have not refunded it…it’s been several days. They are giving excuses such as “they are waiting for the transaction to go through”. It’s definitely already went through! I do not trust any app that makes you email them to cancel and then does not cancel it when you are asking that it be cancelled. It’s negligent and shady.

  • A must have for parents!

In its simplest form, this app can make it easier for your children to be motivated to do chores, keep track of the work they complete and watch their allowance go up as they work. Children can use the app to make purchases or you can order a physical card that has a chip and a as a Visa-prepaid card. They cannot spend more than they have earned. The parent can see exactly where and when, anytime they make a purchase.

It would be a shame to skip the financial lessons available on the app too. You can set goals for automatically putting % of money to charity, savings and or stocks. There are terrific organic lessons that come as they see money they can’t touch and excitement as savings grows.

We use the app for my 21 year old daughter to send money while she is in college. She has been in Europe for three weeks and because she has money in her account, that Busy card is buying lunches and more all over Europe! When I was worried about one thing and emailed customer service saying she was out of the country and needed help the President of the company was the one who reached out to help! Now that’s amazing customer service.

Dependable, trustworthy, easy to use, resourceful and educational. I love this company and product!

  • Kids love the app

I purchased this app as I was looking to give my 8 and 5 year old more responsibility and wanted them to learn to manage their earrings for the chores they did. We have been extremely pleased with the app and it helps my kids see that their hard work pays off. I personally love that they will eventually learn to save and donate as these are option the app provides (I currently have to make them to do these things, but I have no doubt they will one day do them willingly 🤞🏻). The kids love being able to have the app on their devices allowing them to track their own progress. They also LOVE having their own debit cards. Customer service has always responded quickly and been very helpful. I could not be more please with the app. We love Busy Kids!

  • Incredibly confusing

As a parent and one with a finance degree at that I have been ready to throw my phone out the window several times trying to track my sons spending with this app. I’ve had probably a dozen emails into support asking for confirmation of activity, time I’ll never get back. There are 4 buckets of money but no running total for any of them. It’s impossible to track if the transfers between buckets are accurate and as the adult you can’t even see how the child is splitting up incoming funds. Ingueas you’re just supposed to “trust” it. Inconsistencies abound in the app with the “weekly allowance” not showing any automatic payments, only $ for specific chores. Why the app can’t update the balance on the card automatically I’ll never know. And when my kid lost a card the app let me buy a new one literally a week before they sent an automatic, apparently yearly, replacement. How this app is supposed to teach any financial literacy is beyond me. You’re just supposed to trust it and watch how everything just happens like magic I guess. Also buyer beware, there is no longer any free stock trading through stockpile. It now requires a monthly fee.

I'm very sorry for the troubles but appreciate the feedback. I would like the chance to discuss this more but I'm not given much space here. Plus you didn't leave a name or email for me to contact you. Please contact me at mpru@busykid.com and I'll do my best to find some resolution. We're making changes/improvements to the app all the time, so your feedback could be part of some. As for the investment changes, in the long run this will provide our customers with an inclusive feature with no increase to the BusyKid subscription price. Everything can be seen inside our app and that is something parents have requested for a long time. I hope that you'll contact me. Sincerely - Mike Prusinski, President
  • Beware scam praying on kids

So I got this app for my daughter about 4-5 months ago . I paid the $20 yearly subscription. Everything was good till they announced they are switching banks . Since then they keep charging 50 cents every time the card gets declined . Hence in she swipes the card and the terminal doesn’t work or enters the pin incorrect a Fee . Since it’s an app for a child they don’t realize and keep swiping getting charged 50 cents per swipe . So far they scammed my daughter out of nearly $30 in decline fees . Poor kid does chores just to have these scammers slowly take the money out of the account . Funny thing is they decline transactions even with money in the account and still change fees . I have it all documented and if anyone wonders I can provide screenshots . Do yourself a Favor and move on. I can not tell you how furious it makes me when greedy ppl pray on kids and this is it . Anyone that wants proof feel free to contact me and I’ll show you.

  • BusyKid is perfect for our family

BusyKid is perfect for our family. At this point in our lives we hardly carry cash, but still want to be able to treat and reward our kids for chores, great behavior or helpfulness around the house, BusyKid let’s us do that. The app is easy to setup and use on both the parent and child side.
I like the added responsibility for the kids of looking for and checking off their daily activities (with the parent ability to remove tasks that weren’t done properly)
Using a debit card and digitally tracking spending is a necessity in 2022 and having that all integrated into their daily lives is a great learning tool for financial literacy.
