Great App so far

I have been using Marcus for about a year now. And so far I love the service and the App. Everything is easy to understand. I just wish there’s a straight layout of my saving and the interest, instead of going to many steps to be able to see that. That’s the reason for the 4 stars.

I am just confused on the Marcus Insight feature. Why that when the same company own Clarity. And Clarity and Marcus Insight are pretty much the same (same functions). I was trying to see the difference but there’s none.

CD/Savings Rows

It would be nice if each row for an account on the Accounts screen showed the current interest rate for a savings account. CD account rows, it would be nice to see the maturity date and the interest rate. It’s really sub-optimized to go through three touches to show that information.

It might also be nice to allow users to customize what is shown in the row for each account type. You could even allow users to sort on the rows on the data point they want to use.

Any of these features would make it easier to manage a CD savings strategy.

Banking App with lots of Promise

It’s about as basic of a banking app as it gets, which I like. My favorite part is the greeting with some inspirational quote that makes you feel like you’re a millionaire when you’ve only got a balance of $5.00. The financial wellness part has a lot of promise, but it needs the ability to actually itemize and add separately whatever extra income or expenses can’t be tracked by the account merging as opposed to adding them manually and not knowing what income or expense you’re adding. It also needs to show a negative income number to demonstrate your deficit if it exists to help you better understand how much you’re overspending rather than going to zero net income if you are indeed overspending.

This app is horrible after update

I don't know who comes with an idea to implement tracking other banks' balances in the Marcus app! He should be fired! This will never work no matter what you do. Examples for instance update to see other bank balances are way too slow and are not in real-time. My banks (yes multiple) didn't have an update for almost two weeks. Now explain to me how i can track my balance when this thing is not up to date?

Waste of time Marcus! This feature is garbage across the board. Is not just for you but anyone who uses this is the same! Please remove this garbage feature and give us something else. If you don't believe me test it! Won't work! One star until you change something or make this app better.

Issue Logging Into App

Recently, the app started asking to verify contact info/profile before allowing access to account, but it doesn’t offer a way to do it... only option is to press the “okay” dialog box which then opens up a desktop web version of my online account. Then a small box appears at top of screen asking to open the Marcus app to continue. Press open app and it goes back to asking for verification of account profile before allowing access. Stuck in an endless loop...😐 other than this recent issue I love the app and its simplicity in navigating my account. Easier than going online via webpage. Please fix access issue thanks.

Worked great, now giving me issues

The app worked great from the first time I downloaded it until about two weeks ago. Now every time I login, it says I have to confirm or update my information in order to continue. However, every time I click ok and it takes me to the website on a web browser, there is nothing there and I can’t fix it. So it just stays on this screen and I can’t do it anything. I deleted the app and redownloaded it and it worked for a day or two, and now the same thing is happening. Not sure what the issue is, but would love it to be fixed!

Lagging behind other online banks

Selling point of same day transfers is not accurate. The balance shows up in your account but the funds are not available for a week (much longer than other online banks). If you hardly touch money in your savings it shouldn’t be an issue but it will be a hassle if you suddenly need to make withdrawals.

Also, there is no mobile deposit which is a standard feature now for online banks. Overall, I love the clean interface that Marcus has but it is lagging behind other online banks in terms of functionality. Given that they are a relatively new bank I hope they can sort these issues out over time.

Great app, great service

Impressed by Goldman Sachs’ customer service with the Apple Card, I opened a Marcus savings account. The app is really well designed and simple to use, the interest rate is good (especially given current declining interest rates) and I enjoy using the account.

I saw reviews somewhere that said it was difficult or slow to withdraw your money from Marcus. That is absolutely not true. If I make a withdrawal, it turns up in my bank within 24 hours. Marcus is excellent to use in every way.

Good App. Touch ID / Face ID Issue (FIXED 5/1/20)

It’s a good app. Only one issue about Touch ID/Face ID. I just spoke to Marcus customer service, after you log in, do not log out. If you do log out, next time you open the app, you have to log in manually again (enter your email & password, very annoying). Just close the app and after 3 - 5 minutes later, it will log you out. Next time you open the app, you will see a Touch ID/ Face ID prompt. Not sure why Marcus set it up this way. Other banking apps, you log out. Hopefully Marcus will fix this. I feel more secure if I can log out after using the app. Also, not sure why Marcus is making us create a 4 digit pin/passcode. We don’t need it for online, however we need it for the app login? Just make it simple like other banking apps, allow us to log out/sign out, allow us to log in using Touch ID/Face after logging out, and please get rid of the passcode.

UPDATE 5/1/20: Logging out/Touch ID/Face ID issues are fixed. Now it’s perfect. Thank you developers!

Great app ; very convenient

I love how simple and easy it is to transfer money between accounts. It’s also nice being able to track your growth. I wish the ability to rename/edit account names was available in the app. It’s inconvenient to have to go to the website. Also, I recently broke up my sole savings account into three. The total amount of money is the same, but there is no way to track the total across all accounts. Now, I can only look at each account individually. It’s a minor thing, but would be a nice addition.

Other than that, great!
