  • OK app but displaying weird stuff

The app displays some useful and some odd information in History, like the total voltage as the sum of max voltage of all days and similar. Why?

And since the most recent update, it no longer displays current charging wattage. About the most relevant number I thought, now gone .....
  • Less Social Media, more about Education

Like previous reviews, I bought the Renogy system because their components are highly rated and Bluetooth allows me to monitor the system from my chair next to the campfire.

But the App is disappointing. Drop the social media features and bulk up the system monitoring capabilities. I really don’t care about “Joe123” in Albuquerque. I want to know what my battery status is in plain English.

Do I need to use less light?
Should I switch the refrigerator to propane?
Am I doing more harm to my battery than good?

These are the important questions, the App user needs to see. So give me the information.

Also the App could be used to educate Users. More and more people have solar installed or are installing solar. We all all not Solar or electrical savvy. Even if a person was, the App should be a aid in helping an owner explain the system to someone who isn’t. I can’t tell you how many fellow campers are intrigued by my Renogy Install, but the App doesn’t help me explain to them, in plain English, how it all works.

You want to grow your market, make the App an system focused and easy to use so Renogy Owners can be an ambassador for the product. Now your talking about sales growth.

  • New update (V1.6.3) no longer supports multiple battery systems?

This app used to be able to monitor my 2 smart LiFePo 100ah batteries inter-connected w/ a CAT5 cable, and display each batteries statistics as a part of a multiple battery system.

Now with the V 1.6.3 “app update” I have to disconnect the CAT 5 cable and monitor each battery separately, or I get the “nothing connected” useless error message .

So a definite step backwards for Renogy. And to add to the frustration, the app keeps forgetting that it ever connected to my batteries every time I open the app, requiring starting over at step one.

Hey Renogy, hire some professional programmers ,fix your app, and stop wasting my time with your stupid and unwanted social network nonsense.

This app has never connected to my BT-2, nor the BT-1 when I had it. With the old app I was able to occasionally get a connection, but even that was few and far between.

Now that they’ve downsized to utilizing just one app that never connects, it’s hopeless.

I’ve reached out to customer service, they responded by telling me to disconnect/reconnect (as if I were born yesterday and hadn’t tried that a million times), try turning my Bluetooth off/on (really beating a dead horse here, updating the app (I have the most recent update) and making sure there are no obstacles between my phone and the module (Holding it by the cord, I’m dangling it onto my phone screen).

This app is a waste of screen space. Customer service was a waste of time. I’d love my money back.

  • Hate this app

The one I’m using is so much better one I’m doing Solar so I like to have a percentage or what my battery is and to everything is right there for me it’s so much easier for me to know exactly what’s going on the old one is so much better
  • It’s okay but could be better

I have a 50 amp DC-DC, MPPT charge controller for my solar panels, start battery, single Firefly AGM Carbon Foam house battery on a sailboat. The firefly battery has specific requirements and thus I need to use the custom settings for charge control. So far using the BT2 module and this app I can adjust and save what I need except for one aspect, the Boost Return voltage. The Renogy manual for the charge controller states this can be adjusted in the custom settings mode, but the app does not show this option. Would be very helpful if Renogy could update the app to allow control over this one function.

  • Junk

This is really disappointing… I have a ton of energy gear and it’s all supposed to be monitored by the BT to and that was a bad decision because this app is a pile of crap, it won’t even let me sign up. It just grinds away and then times out, I’ve tried six times. Reggie you need to fix this garbage, right now.

  • Poor App and General Disapointment

This app has some major problems with logging in and creating a new account. I was only able to sign in using my Apple ID. Secondly, the app has typos and improper scaling (or pulls data from the wrong place) when using the history/trending/graph features. Lastly, it’s a huge disappointment this app won’t let the user select custom parameters for charging the connected battery. The previous app at least seemed to allow it (despite it not ever actually successfully writing custom settings to the charge controller). Not supporting custom charge settings will damage the battery as each battery manufacturer has specific requirements. Renogy if you are reading this, I hope you take corrective action ASAP as I want to believe and back your products. Right now it’s hard to do that and it’s a major disappointment.

  • DC Home

The user interface of the New DC Home monitor app has a lot of useless and undefined data:
    1) The My Device Tab, has big image, make it 50% smaller, or take it off.
    2) to the left of image it says: You’re Going Green. Does not convey info. Take it out.
    3) Below the above, has “Power Generation”, but no explanation what it means.
    4) Below the above, has “Cumulative Carbon”, IMHO really not useful data, take out or hide somewhere else.
    5) this page has a second Power Generation, again no definition what it means. Replace with “Charging Power”.
    6) on the Controller Tab, the large blue symbol with PV Power from solar panels, is way, way to large. Make it smaller, or remove.
    7) under PV screen, another Power Generation, replace with PV power from solar panels.
    8) add Battery Charging Power.

Could go on and on !!!

  • It’s okay

The app allows you to add several Bluetooth devices at once. So say you have a Renogy mppt and batteries, it’ll allow you to see both. I’ve marked it down due to the fact that you can’t see both at once without coming here out of the app first. The changeover of BT connections forces the app to close.

I can see where Renogy want to take the app going forward, but for now it’s just a bit of a mess and doesn’t have its core functionality sorted.
