  • Won’t Connect

    True to connect the product to my iPhone 13, but it kept telling me it was taking too long.

    Looked at the instructions over and over again, but couldn’t find any way to make my phone connect with this product.

    The website was not helpful either. Nothing on the site explained how to make it work. I eventually gave up and returned it.

  • Potential with this app not fully met.

    I have had 4 zhiyun gimbals (smartphone and standard) and i love the smooth 5. but the app NEEDS to be updated so that ALL THE CONTROLS., mainly the focus/zoom wheel works as advertised. currently the focus wheel does NOT focus, tho it does zoom. but i want the focus racking wheel to function as this is WHY I BOUGHT THE GIMBAL. Please fix this.

  • Not Worth Giving Up Privacy

    You must agree to their ability to collect and use your private data! Otherwise this app will not work. This is dangerous. Nope.
  • Bad App Situation But Nice Gimbal Hardware

    Like pretty much everyone else has already stated, I too like the hardware (gimbal) but the App situation is unbelievable. As of today (Feb, 2022) Zhiyun expects you to use 2 apps. This one, ZY Cami, and another one called StaCam. Most of the gimbal buttons no longer work in ZY Cami, but they do work in StaCam, however, simple features like the "rule of thirds" grid on the phone screen, require a $20 per year subscription in StaCam. The ZY Cami screen frequently becomes confused between portrait and landscape modes causing me to have to stop the app and restart it. There is no app that lets you set the funtion of the Fn key, since the menu item is grayed out. We are going to have to hope for 3rd party support of this gimbal or else we will all have purchased a nice gimbal that doesn't have any software to take advantage of it. Also, do yourself a favor and download the PDF version of the manual from Zhiyun's website because the included, hardcopy, manual isn't anywhere near accurate as far as the button functions are concerned.

  • Horrible App

    This App makes a $220 dollar purchase (Gimbal) pretty much useless. As of 01/26, none of the buttons or quick functions on the Gimbal work with the App. Nothing can be adjusted from the gimbal, and the different capture modes have to be switched manually from the App
  • Please Fix

    The app is broken. A lot of times now it’s give “unknown” error message. It won’t record and the phone screen freezes. Every time this happened I have to force close the app which is very frustrating as it happened while you’re in the middle of recording or just about to start recording. Devices I used are Zhiyun Smooth 5 and iPhone 12 Pro Max. Planning to return the gimbal if the app problems persists.

  • Fix the software!

    The smooth 5 device it’s self is well made and I like it lots. The software is horrible. Also noticed the gimbal jumps when you try to tilt up or down for shots. Needs to be smoother. You guys are going to loose customers with this. I was pumped to use this but can’t do anything with the app worth while.

  • Horrible app and dangerous requirements

    This app is very intrusive and should raise privacy concerns. Location info, registration and a lot of personal info to use after paying for the product. When trying to sign up it is asking for a lot of personal info, I have privacy concerns and immediately deleted. I’ll use a 3rd party app as others suggested. Avoid.

    I am planning to use native iPhone software or will wait till filmic pro create a version compatible with smooth 5.

  • Sending it back — too intrusive

    The gimbal app is too intrusive. I don’t trust a company that needs that much personal information for a product like this. Too bad — it appears to be a neat product. I will get something else due to the fact that the app is required for full functionality, but too much personal info is being required and sent to China. No thanks.
