This UI is very beautiful and the app is a joy to use. Definitely worth the money!
However, this app is still not perfect. In my opinion, the buttons on the "break" interface don't look that elegant compared to other parts of the app, and when I'm in the double-panel mode, the "break" interface is red, but the calendar is white, it just looks strange to me. Wish the "break" interface can be improved in the future.
I am also curious why can't I view the calendar when I am focusing. Sometimes I need to check my schedule while working.
Despite these small issues, this app is still the best pomodoro app out there. Thanks for building such a fantastic tool!

Make sense. I'll think about it
  • Helpes me stay calm

This app is not only helping me be more productive but has also helped me increased mindfullness which I wasn't expecting but it's a happy surprise.

For context, I'm a software Engineer. One of my biggest challangeas when working is going too deep into the rabbit hole and getting lost in my thought process when fixing bugs. Taking regular breaks helps me stay focused.

I love this app for it's simplicity but it also has all the information that I need.

    Features I love:
    - It syncs wiht my apple watch so that I get notified when my breaks are over when I'm away from my macbook.
-It Reminds me to take a breath before I start each session. I extend this to a minute of deep breathing on my own, but I wish this was customizable.
    - There is a count down on the top menu so I can always chech quickly how much time is left in this session.
    - It asks for focus at the beginning of the session and a reflection at the end of it which helps me be more aware of my efficiency and allows me to optimize my workflows.

  • Perfection

Absolutly the best Tomato timer I have ever used, simple, elegant interface, but still with all the functions. Staple app for all my work and study. Good job.
(I have trouble finding the ios counterpart in Australia store, but found it in the U.S. store, yet the Mac version is avaliable in the AU store. Bit confusing, and unable to utilize the subscribtion at this point.)
    Suggestions for future development:
    1. Watch app, especially for some one like me that doesn't bring phone and laptop everywhere.
    2. Give the option to turn off the Notes section, I don't use it but it takes up space.
    3. Make it functional in the menu bar drop down, and assign a hot key, like what Fantastical, Day one does. Now I use a manual hotkey on my keyboard to use it, but its not intuitive, and its a big window. everytime it pops up I get a a jump scare.
    4. The way we select tasks can be more intuitive, and possibly faster, but it's a minor thing.

Thanks John Smith, I'll take these into backlog :)
  • Far more than a timer

Although seemingly simple in terms of functionality and experience (another Pomodoro timer?), Session is quite deliberately sophisticated in how it wraps features into its core uses.

The framework of categorising sessions, setting intentions and reflecting on the session allow for a really valuable way not only to organise any time but to place it in a context (for me, projects or specific types of tasks or activities) and to keep me motivated and on track in a way that I'm able to note how and why certain things were useful, valuable or where I might need to change.

I have ADHD so this kind of commentary and opportunity to capture structured reflectiion is essential and helps me to not just stay focused but also to jknow more about those things which add or subtract value to my attempts to stay focused.

Does it work for me? Yes, absolutely. Am I prepared to subscribe? Again, because of the value I get from an app such as this, absolutely.

I really appreciate how digital tools such as Session seem to be meeting a need that, until recently, I didn't understand I had. So, my support and enthusiasm for Session is genuine and writing this review seems the least I can do! Highly recommended!

  • Could not work without this

This is a game changer. As someone who suffers greatly from procrastination, distraction and impulsivity, this turbocharges the conventional pomodoro technique. Few things feel quite as good as checking off that 8th (or more!) Pomodoro for the day. Highly recommended.

An immaculate app which I recommended to my sister as well and now we have productive study sessions together

Thank you Minxie, hope both of you enjoyed it!
  • Best way to keep your focus!

If you aren't scheduling your day on a calendar than you have to start now. Using a todo-list can be useful but shouldn't be your primary method (there are plenty of people who have good explanations).

Once you accept that premise, this app becomes essential. Using a calendar is very primitive; while it is great way to schedule events sessions in advance, it is a poor way to record your actualized work. Philip has put a lot of thought into this problem and it shows. The UI/UX is great and every new feature is well thought out. Phillip also does a great job communicating with users on discord and responding to suggestions. Very excited to see this grow (and it will)!

  • Love status bar feature

Great focus app -- two features that I really enjoy is the day 'schedule' feature that maps out how you have used your time. Really helps me visualize how I am doing. Also love that your focus topic shows up on your status bar with the time remaining - helps you refocus when you are switching between screens and getting distracted. App has a lot of features even within free verison which is really nice.

  • Love it and some suggestions

Absolutely love this app!! Beautiful UI and simple to use, no redundant functions. Two small suggestions: 1. I was thinking it might be better if you can add more theme colors beside red. Red is good, but just not my favorite. Even the pro version can only change the light/dark mode. 2. Not sure if you are working on this already, but I would love to have a widget for this app.

  • Fantastic App - Well worth the money

By far the best pomodoro app I've used. Session is rock solid, easy to understand, and filled with lovingly designed details. The calendar and timeline views have helped me stay accountable to myself and made time tracking and estimation much easier. The UI is simple enough to stay out of your way while still giving you all the info you need at a glance. Absolutely worth the premium subscription.
