  • Great Pomo App

Edit: I’ve been using it for a while now, and the updates, discord server, live actions + shortcut capabilities make this app exceptional to use! Admittedly I haven’t been using it long, but this is a great app! The UI is sleek and very easy to use. The intention and the categorization capabilities are nice, and the free tier has basically all functionality minus the unlimited categorization. Integration with the Calendar app is great. The stand out functionality that I absolutely love is the amount of automation (and through that, customization) of the app. It’s particularly wonderful when you get it to sync through all your devices. I played around with scripting and with “shortcuts” and loved it! I also really loved the notes feature and that these notes can be as long as you want. I’d recommend the app just purely on this feature because it has been so helpful. That said, one of the parts I don’t like is that there is no task tracking or subtask tracking, which seems like a feature of the app (and design). Task and subtask are supplanted by categories and intentions; the categories and intentions seem like a good alternative and really helped me when I procrastinate by planning to the last detail on certain tasks. I also never really got the hang of its scheduling functionality, but that’s user error rather than app dysfunction. All in all it’s a great app, and I’d definitely recommend it!

  • Cleanest, most effective productivity app

I've tried them all, this is the best. Blocks websites as well as apps (I use it to block my browser.) Simple, clean, effective.
  • Continuing.

    This is an amaizing app.
An improvememnt i would like to see is to be able to add time to the session after the break starts. when we get to the break and want to continue, we have to skip the break and jump into the following session. it would be nice to just add 5,10 or more time after the break starts

  • Helps me so much!

I've been able to focus a lot better since downloading this app. I have used various pomodoro timers before but having one as a standalone app really makes a difference for me. The interface is appealing and makes me feel good about focusing. Being able to block distracting websites while session in progress is a great feature too! The ability to write notes helps me work out any small to-do items or hash out what's getting in my way of focusing. Having different colour codes for different things I'm working on is great to help me spin multiple plates as I can categorize where my attention should be going and have better oversight on how long I spend on each thing. The breathing in and out at the beginning of each session is a nice touch too, breathing is imporrtant! After a few months of using the free version I decided to upgrade to subscription because this really works for me.

  • Session is a balm for my ADHD soul

I downloaded Session because I had been searching for a way to support my ADHD and task avoidance. I get anxiety over starting tasks that feel overwhelming and then guilty for not getting that task done which leads to even more task avoidance. I wanted to be better at keeping my promises to people about what I'll do by when, all while honoring the way my brain works. I've tried implementing pomodoro in many ways, from having manual timers to adding "Just Start" to my habit list to installing other pomodoro apps, but none of them worked!

Session has finally made pomodoro click because it's not just a timer, it's a mindfulness coach wrapped up in software. It prompts me to breathe before the start of a task so that I can quiet my mind and tell myself that I can do it. It asks me to set an intention that is then helpfully displayed on my menu bar so that I won't forget about it. Even the Session help documents are friendly. I find myself wanting to start a Session and that gives me all the hope in the world.

  • the best pomodoro timer/ time tracker

Would definitely recommend! I really love how simple and customisable this app is- and that it works both as a way to help focus and also as a time-tracking app so i can see where my focus has been during the week.

I also really appreciate that the app gives me space to take a breath before going back into a focused mode. I often find that i get tense when working for long periods of time and that feature helps to diffuse that feeling.

(Philip,if youre planning on doing any further development i'd love to see apple watch compatability for starting sessions and breaks/ seeing how far into a session i am! Would also love an option to buy once and not be on subscription. The only reason i might hesitate to recommend this is because it's on a subscription model.)

  • Works very well!

Love all the features. Only caveat is that the website blocker doesn't work with the ARC browser and I have to use a different app which is counter-intuitive.

  • The best and most comprehensive pomodoro app I’ve ever used

The quick breathing before the start of a session is a very helpful touch to get in the mindset to focus.

Its integration with a calendar is a nifty one, you can simply transfer an agenda event to be a time-tracking session.

Lots of little personalisation options that makes the app work exactly as you want (default session length, white noise, break time, even rule-driven custom profiles that I just found although have not used yet).

The analytics have just the right amount of details and display filters.

And bonus, the interface is easy on the eye.

It’s so so good. I’m on trial mode, but with all these specs (and not specs just for the sake of having a long list of features) I’m seriously considering upgrading.
