  • The worst service

    Buses didn’t stop to pick us up at cheesequake yesterday. Called dispatch she said the ramp they usually use is closed. So they didn’t bother telling the drivers to use an alternate entrance.

    Clearly Academy does not stick to its schedule or care about their customers. They can’t even answer the phone this morning

  • Daily commuter

    The worst service. The bus no longer makes stops in midtown and now I need to walk which takes extra time in the morning. The service was cut but not the ticket price. Academy does not care about the customer. They only care about making money and saving money by packing buses and leaving people stranded. Buses are canceled very often with little to no notice. There are not many bus options for commuters which adds to the stress. The company cannot get drivers or retain drivers b/c they are probably treated very poorly with low salary.

    We apologize for your experience. Academy takes pride in taking care of it's customers and it's employees. There is a national CDL driver shortage. We continue to work on attracting, hiring and retaining drivers. We offer a competitive salary and benefits package. We constantly strive to provide safe and reliable service to our customers. We will continue to make this our focus now and in the future.
  • A.M service alerts are needed.

    If a driver doesn’t come to work in the morning the bus is canceled but no alerts are given. When calling dispatch office in Tom’s River the pleasant person who answers the phone says “Sorry but I don’t have the ability to send an alert to App”. How about Academy fixes that?

    We apologize for your experience. When a driver doesn't come to work, it is usually last minute and dispatch works to move trips around to get all trips covered, therefore there can't always be an alert and things are shifting. We will work on correcting this in the future.

    There was no notification or explanation. Typical Academy!
  • Easy & Convenient

    I am very happy Academy has this new app. You can easily purchase tickets and pull up your bus schedule. The app is very easy to use.

    You have to wait until your bus is in site to activate ticket. The process is too long. Academy has made buying paper tickets a discriminatory process for people with poor credit.
  • Pros and Cons from a seasoned daily rider

    Pros Drivers look for efficiency and know the roads Most buses are quiet and temperature controlled on cold winter days Passengers can sense camaraderie between drivers in traffic and bad snow, makes you feel part of a team Glad the bus lines still exist post COVID, it’s my connection to New York City Cons Drivers tend to leave stops a minute to three minutes earlier than posted departure times Instances where buses dont show and no communication Buses or old stage coaches with cloth seating are very uncomfortable (lower back and necks) and create animosity between passengers when there are low patience levels from seat discomfort

  • Increase in price, But not in service.

    Just bought my January monthly and it comes w/ a increase in price.
    I asked the gate employee.
    So, I guess they are returning the busing after 7:30? No, they are not.
    What about a long awaited weekend bus that I could get into the city for a 7 am start at my work location? (Which would be a Saturday 5:30/6:00am bus) Again he replied No.
    Well, do I understand this correctly?
    They cut the schedule for almost 2 yrs. saving cost on Gate staff, fuel, maintenance and drivers but instead of passing the discount they decided to charge their riders more FoR LeSS!
    You can’t make this up!!

    There was a fare increase in January 2022, and the tickets sold in the app continue to be sold at a discounted fare. For purchases you may use debit cards and transit cards along with credit cards to purchase tickets in the app. We are watching ridership carefully as companies have their employees returning to the office. Many are on hybrid schedules, commuting a couple days a week, so we are watching to see the trend and where additional buses may be needed. We will make adjustments where necessary.
  • The app is garbage

    Never shows the right bus arriving time. No warnings, no notification of the bus cancellation. Nothing good in this app, only frustrations.
