  • Essential if you love great theater

I’ve been going to the theater for more than a half century, and a substantial percentage of the greatest productions I’ve seen have originated at the National. What a treat to revisit so many of them for so little, and to know that I’m helping the National in the process.
  • Great for Theater Lovers

Signed up for this during COVID lockdown and discovered the joy of seeing world class theater in my own home. Have continued after that and get a good catalogue plus several new offerings each month. Do hope this is a permanent service for NTL. Love it!
  • Best Seat In Town!

Love, love, love these plays! I wish you could have access to the whole library to pick as you’re in the mood, but nonetheless all great plays and must sees.
  • My saviour during lockdown

I’m a regular visitor at the national theatre. This app was a life saver. Although I miss live theatre this is a wonderful replacement especially when I’m travelling. I also get to see plays that missed for one reason or another. Please keep it going. Thank you for this wonderful app.
  • We’ll worth the money

I have enjoyed NT at home. All the plays that I would have not been able to see, I’m afforded the chance with NT at home. Evening though I’m from the US, I feel it’s been a blessing to se such great works.
  • Nat Theatre @ Home is the antidote for the pandemic

Theatres going dark in 2020 was heart-crushing. And watching “live” theatre at home can’t compare. But when it’s done we’ll, it’s the salvific balm our souls need to stay connected to our shared humanity. And no streaming service is better than National Theatre @ Home. Thank you for this. Thank you for Shakespeare, and Consent, Mosquitoes, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, and Amadeus. Thank you for Frankenstein, both of them. NatTheatre@Home is a treasure.

  • To quote Johnny Rocco…

    “I want more!”
More content: Gorgeous production of unparalleled theater. Is it any wonder I want more? understand that the theater releases must make money, but I want them at home, too. It won’t put a penny of NT money at risk because when I can go to a theater I will still buy tickets because the big screen is an even more amazing experience. Am I the only one who wants to watch a play more than one time? When Patrick Stewart’s Macbeth was on Broadway my wife and I had such a great time we bought tix for the next night and had even more fun.
More insight: I’m in my 60’s and quietly geeking out over Shakespeare (many thankis BTW to Ehrin Ziegler’s Chop Bard podcast). Could we get a few thousand hours of behind-the-scenes with the dramaturgs, designers, producers, etc? I’d love to see the raw confusion of a cast’s first reading, pre-rehearsal - and for as many shows as possible. How do the initial themes that the director has in mind when prepping for rehearsal evolve or wither away? How do directing styles differ from show to show? And if we could have a compare/contrast of NT’s many Hamlets over the years!!!! Or Midsummer, or…
SO grateful NT has begun this effort. If only there were something I could do to make this site nearly as iconic as the theater itself.

  • Under Milk Wood

Rouses the appetite in its urgent calling to heed the sensual detail of the quotidian day, to swirl the voices various around and within us, to recall back to exuberant life the memory of the poetic soul.

A production ingenious, tender, impassioned and engaging in its rage against the waning gusto of the declining spirit.

    Inspiring & inspired!

  • Keeping “live” theatre alive…

Such a lovely alternative during the plague year(s). Nothing beats sitting next to your sweetheart in a darkened theatre sharing an experience with an engaged audience. But this will do…for now. Good selection of some wonderful plays generously offered by The Nat’l Theatre. Thank you!
  • Outstanding Theatre at home…in Canada!

I never thought I’d enjoy theatre on the screen but the productions are superb and the filming is like having a front row seat. Enjoying this so much - to have the best theatre in the world in my own living room 3,000 miles from London.
