Wouldn’t let me

Wouldn’t let me identify the giant cockroach men who keep smashing through my windows and stealing my beloved organs! They might not actually be cockroaches because bullets work on them. But these things? No way. Bullets just fly off their carapaces and make them angry! Weirdly enough, they seem concerned for my health, saying stuff like “take your meds!” Or “You need to calm down!”

Anyway, I wish I could rate this 0 stars because I’m not dropping 40 bones—they’re stealing those too—on this app just to find out the spider in the corner is named Cletus Dillburger—I already know she’s poisonous and bites dudes heads off.

Won’t allow you to cancel without a headache

Avoid unless you want an annual subscription.

To cancel your subscription, the app forces you to write a reason. In writing a reason, it makes the keyboard come up on the screen and makes it impossible to click next. Certainly seems intentional to keep users from cancelling without a long delay in waiting for an email responded to.

App shut down????

I haven’t been able to access this app for a couple of weeks or more in spite on having a paid up subscription. Has this app shut down?

Challenging to cancel

Challenging to cancel due to user interface. Won’t let you not input text, hard to make the keyboard minimize once you’ve put in text, but can’t click to move on to the next screen without the keyboard minimizing. Then it froze at the end and wouldn’t let me click anything as I was trying select unsubscribe in the end. I got the sense that this cumbersome UI for the cancellation process was purposeful to make you give up and continue to pay for their product. App isn’t actually free, as it’s only free for a short period of time unless you cancel, and cancelling was a challenge as noted above. App itself serves its purpose, but it’s expensive for what it is and how often I personally would use it.

Useless app and charged me twice

This app is almost never able to identify correctly, if it can identify a bug at all. Tiny things like fleas don’t even bother. It could not even identify a large wasp. Not only that, this app robbed me and either the developer nor apple would refund it. What happened was I was offered a discounted rate for the premium app when I was on a free trial. I purchased it, and didn’t cancel the free trial, thinking it would have been automatically transitioned to a premium account. Then I was charged AGAIN, full price, when the “trial” period was over. As I mentioned, I contacted apple multiple times as well as the developer, and the developer would not take responsibility. Apple refused the refund. Garbage app, avoid it, you will get better results from others

Moth in my home

I woke up at 3 am to find THIS HUGE bug flying around in my house, I need screens put in but my 2 cats love the fresh air, so it must have gotten in through the tiny opening. My cats were playing with it eeeekkkkk.. woke me up and I just had to find out what type of insect this was, so I downloaded this app.. come to find out .. it was a “blinded sphinx moth” this app was so easy to use, very knowledgeable and helpful. 10 out of 10. I let the little guy outside and am now going back to sleep, Goodnight!

It works! :(:

I just moved into a new place and found a couple of suspicious bugs in the kitchen that I used the app to identify. It came back they they were COCKROACHES and I even emailed the support email hoping they would tell me the app was wrong, but they did not :( 5 stars for the app, 0 stars for my new apartment 😭

Also I noticed reviews about the free trial being a scam or not being able to identify without paying and I truly believe this is due to user error. Anytime I sign up for an app’s free trial I immediately go into my Apple ID to cancel it, which still allows me access through the end of the free trial date, and never have any issues with being charged. If you don’t cancel it then you will of course be charged..? And I was able to use the identifier using the free trial which did not require payment, but I only needed it once so I can’t speak to long term use for free.

Great app

I think the app is great. Ok, sometimes it does not identify your insect correctly, but I feel often this is due to the poor quality of my photo.
What I really like about the app is that you can send your photo to an expert for identification at a click of a button if you think your insect has been misidentified.
They usually get back to you within a couple of days with a correct identification.
So what is there not to like?
Happy customer!

SCAM - Do not download or launch

I used the app one time in the trial period but it automatically signs you up for a subscription at $8 per week automatically renewing. Fortunately I didn’t have a credit card linked to my Apple ID so Apple reached out via email after the first charge by the app failed. This isn’t even a realistic price for the service regardless of the deceptive tactics to get you subscribed. Which just proves it’s intentional to get as much money out of you before you realize what has happened
