This app should be global
Setting a train app only for European App Store users is really inconvenient as many other global users might need to download this app when traveling in Italy

How can a train ticket app soooo bad it’s not usable at all I don’t know who designed this I’m queueing at the line and the app is slower than the 30 ppl queue how can this company still survive ???
Keeps mixing time zones
If the phone has a time zone that is different from the time zone of the train, the app uses a bit of both time zones, which is very confusing. For example, it uses the phone time zone to initiate a search for trains (which is wrong, all timetables should be local), but then it will show the correct local times in the information. Except, after having learned that you have to offset the search, you no longer trust the results.

€100 penalty thanks to this app
Searched for a train from Rome to the airport, booked and paid all fine. However, the app reversed my departure / arrival without me realising resulting in a €100 fine for not having a valid ticked + had to buy tickets for a second time.
When I was able to recreate the error - despite submitting the correct ticket requirements - the ticket inspector just shrugged and said “not my problem”.
So I’m fined and out of pocket through no fault of my own, because the app doesn’t work properly?!! I have screen recorded evidence of the bug and they still don’t care. Rubbish.

Absolutely Disgusting
Teenitalia cancelled 4 of our trains in a single day. While traveling from Milan to portofino, Trenitalia provided 0 service but continued to accept payment. We had a train scheduled for 12, for which we arrived at the station at 11am. Trenitalia first delayed the train and then cancelled it. So we purchased tickets for the 1 pm train. Trenitalia proceed to do the exact same thing- delay and then cancel. They repeated this for both the 2 and 3pm trains. We ended up having to pay for a taxi which was around 450 euros to travel from Milan to portofino. Trenitalia offered zero refunds and made us submit a form online to request a review. We submitted the form and Trenitalia still refused to pay us back. We ended up having to file a complaint from our credit card provider. Trenitalia then went to challenge the compliant from our credit card provider.
Zero trains, zero service, no customer support, and yet they still want our money. Beware of Trenitalia.

Trenitalia app is not fit for purpose.
If you’d like to pre-plan your train journey, suggest you buy tickets at the station.
Do NOT use the App and get on an earlier or later train. Only get on the train you have booked. The ticket is NOT valid for other train journeys.
Only check in when you are on the train. The compensation element of the App will NOT work if you ‘check-in to a train journey, then choose an earlier or later train and then request a refund.
The risk of getting on an earlier or later train is a €60 fine per person and the cost of a full ticket.

Keeps asking me to update the app on iPhone
Awful service
Trenitalia is terrible. We had 4 train cancellations for the same route(Milan to Portofino). All the cancellation notices were not given until after the scheduled time of departure-this means we had to go to the train station 4 separate times. On top of that, automatic refunds for cancelled trains are not given. I had to file 4 separate requests for refund, even then they only offer partial refunds(despite no service provided). Absolutely disgusting behavior. I have contacted my credit card company and will be disputing the charges. Avoid Trenitalia at all costs.

Not a great app
I will be using Trainline or Rome to Rio app from now on. I had a difficult time trying to change the time on on of my trains so I had to totally cancel, pay a penalty then go to Trainline to rebook. Now I changed the time on another one if my trains but while the app says that I can change the time on the connecting train, it won’t let me click on my name to complete the change. Never using this app again!!! Use Trainline.

Must have for Italy travel
Easy to book, change and cancel tickets. Easy to use while traveling. Minor improvements could make the experience better during delays or cancellations.
