  • Stay away! Find another creditor!!!

What a complete joke! If I could give them 0 stars I would’ve! My husband was in a work related accident and we placed many of our living expenses on credit cards to just get by. After he received a settlement, we paid off all our debts including my 4 capital one cards. They returned the first attempted payment because they thought it was fraudulent. Called customer service and they replaced the bank account back into the available accounts to make payments from and we retried the payments. Well guess what folks… THE PAYMENTS WENT THROUGH!!! The money was pulled from our account! The amount was over $10k and capital one received the money. Capital one even stated that the amount received was valid and was a good payment but then they turn around and closed all 4 accounts down. Their reason for closing all 4 accounts? Capital one said it’s because I breached contract. I never did such a thing! I made valid and non fraudulent payments to my accounts! It’s reported to my credit now and showing 4 closed cards. Please for the love of god, find another creditor that will appreciate your longevity and payments better than this disgusting company. I was never late on ANY payment and NEVER had the cards go into collections or anything negative happen and then capital one turns around and does this? All I can say is wow! Please if you value your credit and your payments then please find a different creditor because capital one is NOT IT!!!!
  • Exceptional service

Everything is right at my fingertips i really enjoy being with Capital One. This may stem out to every credit card service but the only thing that would be more helpful is that if the help line also had an option to connect with a person and not just the automated computer. I needed help with something specific an the prompts I was being shown wasn’t compatible with my needs during that time. So I continued to search for a little bit trying to see if I could be connected to someone and I had no luck. I did finally get thru but I had to play around with my options and when anxiety it’s harder for me to formulate a solution (ex.) “wording what I needed help with using key words.” I give you guys a 👍 deff great service but I really do think there should be an exception to speak with a person for certain problems you come across. Especially if the problem your facing is more detailed and can’t be explained with only a few words. But once again other than that tiny adjustment I’m very satisfied with my choice in going with Capital One 👍⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
  • Definition of a real bank.

Finally, I found a bank that is both has a high yield savings account and branches that has no minimum balance and no fees whatsoever. A bank that you can either open an account online or in person. A bank that lets you talk to a live person, rather then a robot on the phone if you need assistance. A bank that lets you withdraw cash from other ATM that has an affiliate with MONEY PASS or Allpoint, and Capital One’s ATM that lets you withdraw cash on 1’s, 5’s, 10’s 20’s 50’s or 100 dollar bills. A bank that will allow to make cash deposits at either CVS or Walgreens locations and the to cash checks by taking a picture on your phone with their mobile app.
Not to mention a bank that allows you to receive your payroll two days early with is the number one reason I love Capital One.

I live in Baltimore, Maryland and I am proud that Capital One is in several locations in Maryland. I am able to open many accounts like my emergency fund savings, holiday savings and their 360 checking account. I will open a vacation account once I have fully funded my emergency fund. Capital One is now my primary bank since I used to bank with Bank of America. I contrast the two and Capital One offers more than Bank of America with it come to banking. I hope this is helpful.
  • Dishonest bank

I filed a dispute regarding a double charge on my Capital One 360 debit card. Jan 10 I had funds in my acct $85 to pay the merchant, the merchant swiped my card and the merchant stated the charge was declined, they swiped the card again and stated it was declined again so I gave them a different card from another bank and the transaction went through just fine. Laster that evening I received a notification from Capital One 360 that the transaction went through to the merchant. The next morning Jan 11 at 9am I received a notification that the transaction went through again. I contacted the merchant and they told me to contact the bank. I did contact Capital One 360, so they gave me a provisional credit after 10 days of my complaint. April 11, 2024 Capital One 360 reversed the provisional credit sending my acct into the -$85. I have proof where I paid the merchant with another card when the merchant advised me that the card declined twice on Jan 10 and never even swiped the card on the April 11th because of the declination on Jan 10. I have proof of where I paid the merchant on April 11 with another card as well. I called Capital One 360 to have the reversal of the provisional credit removed, they placed me on hold came back to the line and stated nonsense, they do not know why the reversal of the provisional credit was done, and they need more time put me on hold again and eventually hung up.
    Reported to BBB
Will allow the account to close.
  • Needs Some Tweaks

Been using over a year (credit card), still don’t understand how this banking app doesn’t have a pin login! Having to enter my entire password every time to log in is inconvenient when checking an account in a pinch. Also, no dark mode…weird in this day and age. And the amount of adverts and pushing branded partnerships is kind of gross. Using their HYSA intermittently and a credit card consistently, I also just opened a checking account but the ACH is expected to take a whole week, which is fine because it’s going to take an estimated 11 days to even get the debit card so my money there is tied up! If it takes more than a day to receive my deposits (currently takes overnight to my A bank if requested by 4p PST), I’ll definitely not be using them for checking! Very sloooow, outdated banking. I do like the ability to lock my credit card at least - but most cards have that option now!

UPDATE: Yep, takes 2-3 business days to receive a payment sent from work, whereas it’s in my account next business day with my main bank. Which is fine, I guess, because I requested partial payment and I STILL don’t even have my debit card (almost two weeks after opening account). Will definitely not be using this bank for checking account, BUT it’s currently the most decent for HYSA so my emergency fund will still live here!
  • Almost got that 5

I’ve been using the app for many years and love that it keeps track of all my credit cards and car payments. I like knowing how much credit I have available in case of emergencies. My only quarrel with the app is on the car payment side. I took a month off during the beginning of Covid and that payment was just tacked onto the end of my loan. For many months and possibly a year I was overpaying my monthly loan amount thinking that would bring down the extra amount I owed at the end but that total kept getting bigger. What the app really fails to show the user is the principal balance you have to pay monthly to make up for that lost month. I had noticed this many months back and called about this issue and the person that handled my call fixed the issue with that balance for me but never explained that I needed to pay that principal on the app. I get that I should be more cognizant of my bills and such but maybe instead of having that option well below the payment option have it above or before finalizing payment the app asks the user if they would like to pay on that. I’m sure I’m not the only user that’s had this issue either.
After writing this I’m almost considering removing another star but I won’t because I still really like the app. It’s so very convenient and almost user friendly lol
  • Disappointing

There have been a few disappointments with this bank. First, I somehow went over my limit on my credit card and they immediately shut it down and reported to my credit, before I could even get a chance to make a payment, 3 weeks before a payment was even due. I made payments every week, let alone monthly, I thought that was going all right, until it wasn’t. So I’m still making payments, and it’s still restricted, and counting against my credit. Thanks. As far as the debit account, it’s a nightmare trying to keep up with the balance. There’s money missing all the time, then it pops up, I’ll have a balance of 2$ deposit 50$, go to McDonald’s spend 10$ then Walmart for a 15$ purchase and it tells me insufficient funds. And I look at my transactions and there’s no explanation as to where it went. Now I thought pending transactions were already taken from the account balance to make the available balance and if there are no other transactions, where is my money going? It may or may not all work out, but I’m seriously thinking of changing banks because it’s too stressful to put money in your account, go to make a purchase find your money gone, and your sitting there adding stuff up, trying to make sense of it and failing every time.
  • Never a problem

So I’ve had my capital one secured card for about a year. This was and is my first credit card even though secured it and capital one did and has done everything they SAID and SAY they will do. I never had credit before this and with in 4 months the card I was denied (credit one) all of a sudden now I’m pre approved. Lol. Anyways I called capital one to see how long before I could get a increase without having to put anymore of my money on it because it was secured and they said no. We’re going to see if we can get you approved on a unsecured card. 2 days later that’s what they did. I had such a hard time even getting a company to say they would do a secured card before I decided to try capital one. They were going to be the last try. From the beginning it’s never been a problem. There easy to work with, there customer service is always trying to make it easy no matter what the issue. And they don’t put you on hold 10 times for “just a moment” that ends up being 20 min. I recommend them to every and anyone wether you need to build credit or just need a new card. There the way to go.
  • Lost cryptocurrency recovery

I was so impatient to carry out necessary research but i really wanted to jump on the crypto trading and investment buzz. Unfortunately for me, I invested 80,000 GBP worth of bitcoin with a fraudulent company. I was happy to watch my account grow to 280,000 GBP within a couple of weeks. But i didn't realize i was dealing with a scam company, until i tried to make an attempt to withdraw. I made a withdrawal request, and noticed my account was suddenly blocked for no apparent reason. I tried contacting customer support, but all to no avail. I needed my money back at all cost, because i could not afford to let it go. So i tried all possible means to make sure i recovered my scammed bitcoin. I did a lot of online search for help, and tried to see if there were other people who had any similar experience. I stumbled upon a cryptocurrency forum were a couple of people mentioned that they had been through the same process but were able to recover their lost cryptocurrency, funds with the help of itech koa. So i file a report and he was able to help me get back all my lost funds within two weeks. I will recommend anybody who wants to recover scammed bitcoin, stolen cryptocurrency, funds lost to binary options forex, investment and any other form of online scam, reach out to itechkoa@Gmail.
  • Half Baked

Capital One has an interesting intersection of all the things that I want from a bank. They offer a competitive savings rate, they offer both checking and savings account while some competitors only offer “money” accounts, the majority of business can be handled digitally but they have physical branches if needed, and finally they have very competitive reward credit card offers. The only thing holding Capital One back in my eyes is the app. The options across the bottom are extremely basic, with the digital assistant being something that should live within the settings/help menu, not warranting its own button across the bottom. I think other banks have optimized their navigation bar slightly better, with an option for credit cards, banking, loans, investing, and more. Ideally, a home button, a banking button, a credit/loans button, an investing button, and a settings button should be the five places to navigate to through the navigation bar. Additionally, adding a feature to have vaults where I can create sub-accounts within my savings account so that I can customize and control how I save for specific things would be an incredible addition.
