  • MFA ruins this

I CAN NOT recommend xero primarily due to their MFA requirement. It is not mandatory for banks, how is it justified for this. Just creates issues and headaches, we will accept the “risk”. Just don’t make it mandatory! Even if you select remember computer it does not work. If removed I would rate much higher.

  • Over priced service now!

Was a great platform, filled a great hole in the market but now the team at Xero just keep chasing the big corporate companies and aren’t features they would want but making small business pay for them.
We don’t need a new visual appearance! - one which has since broken the system as my invoices often create items added to invoice in qty of 1.02 or some random qty instead of 1 for me to then increase as desired - they can’t figure out the issue!?
We don’t need overly complicated reports and other stuff we keep being told has been added to Xero functionality before price is increased again!
I’m done with this company and will be cancelling my service shortly as I migrate away!

  • Greedy company. Do not recommend.

Xero is a pretty basic accounting software program, with easy enough to use features. My accountant likes it. But I am absolutely done with this company. They have absolutely no respect for their customers and continue to raise rates at an absurd rate. Since I started using them in July 2022, they have raised their prices 3 times (October 2022, October 2023, and will be again in July 2024), totaling an increase of $34/month in just two years for my specific plan. That’s $408 extra per year. But don’t worry, their stock is thriving. Goodbye greedy fools. Quickbooks and MYOB is looking real good right about now.

  • Not impressed

Took over 2mths to get bank accounts reconciled to Xero & still wasn’t right. Finally got it close to be half useful & now being told the last version is no longer supported yet I can update as it says I need iOS 16. Yet iOS 16 isn’t available on my phones & both say currently updated . So nothing but an update page & an App Store that says open. Which takes me to update & around we go. I’m paying how much a month for this ? Back to the books for now. My account is accessed & run by an accountant so if he’s got no access & I can’t get access. Pretty sure this is something I shouldn’t have to pay for

Hi Mick, we are sorry you are experiencing issues accessing the app. We are constantly releasing product improvements, so appreciate you noticed the progress in bank rec. Regarding the latest update, we required all Xero Accounting app users to update the app to the latest version in order to implement a critical fix to our app, and as we now only support iOS 16 or above as communicated in the product, we understand this has caused access issues for those on older devices supporting iOS 15 or below. We understand the frustration and apologize for any inconvenience caused. Please access Xero though our web product (on mobile or desktop) while we continue to look into this. Thank you
  • Aside from the recent app update…

The recent app update was only for iOS 16 or higher, so with no notice, I went to use Xero on my phone this morning to discover I have to buy a new phone.

They regularly toy with the software in incomprehensible ways- for instance, suddenly there is no way to see whose invoice is overdue, you scroll through all due invoices to find the red, overdue ones…

When invoicing on the app, it switches between tax incl or excl so if you aren’t paying attention and changing it back before sending off the invoice, you send your clients an invoice which may include no tax or twice as much… that’s fun. I contacted Xero support and after being gaslit by customer service, they admitted it was an issue with the app but they have no plans to fix it.

Xero is extremely expensive for a badly put together service. I’m changing to another provider.

Hi there, we are sorry you have experienced issues with the Xero Accounting App. Regarding the requirements to upgrade the app, we sent out 60 days notice in an in-app message when we stop supporting versions before iOS 16. We are required to upgrade to iOS 16 in order to support new Apple features we are due to be releasing in the coming months. Regarding the invoicing issue, thank you for raising this with us. We are prioritising a fix for this issue but in the meantime, please share your customer support ticket number, so we can look into the case for you to get to the bottom of this support. Thanks
  • Removing features

They keep increasing the prices but making the experience worse.

  • A bit disappointing

I switched to Xero because I had heard it was great for freelancers but honestly I’ve been a little disappointed with the invoice customisation options. You can’t add custom fields like Invoice Comment or Purchase Order number or Role ID number, there is only one user-defined field which is Reference number. Also a big thing which annoys me is the inability to send invoices from your own email client so you can’t send invoices with you own custom email signature which is important for businesses wanting to keep a professional look. Also customised docx branding themes are limited to Web Safe fonts which means you can’t make invoices and quotes that use your own brand fonts. Functionality is good but needs work on the branding customisation.

Hello, we are sorry you have had frustrations with the Xero accounting app. We understand that a few of the elements you have mentioned are functionality gaps that exist on Web as well, but I assure you our product team are exploring the possibility to implementing some of your feedback. Regarding sending the invoice from your "email client", the best is to use the Copy button in the Share menu. That will copy the link to the invoice and you will be able to paste it anywhere you want. We appreciate you taking the time to leave feedback, and we are commited to improving our invoicing product. If you have anymore specific product ideas, please submit them in the Xero Product Ideas portal: https://productideas.xero.com/ Thank you
  • Disappointing UX on the Xero app

For such a large company you expect Xero to have an app which is focused on the user experience. Instead it’s a half baked attempt, requiring multiple clicks and steps to get where you want to go, and do what you want to do.
Very frustrating when, for example, to alter a draft bill you have to click 3 times into sub menu buttons to alter a section and approve bills. There is no simple way of pulling up quotes.

Wasting time, effort and overall making the website version more user friendly - and that’s saying something because the web portal isn’t user friendly.

Hello, we are constantly updating our app to improve user experience, and appreciate you taking the time to leave valuable feedback. There is a lot of work happening in the backend to improve navigation through the app, with new features in the roadmap for this year. Please let us now about product ideas you might have for our app in the future via Xero's Product Ideas portal at https://productideas.xero.com/
  • Terrible app update

Very frustrating update regarding invoices not shown at a glance anymore. Now I have to click into each individual client to view invoices, instead of being able to see an overview of them all.
The update has added so many unnecessary steps, I wish it hadn’t been changed.
The other thing that is annoying, when adding a new customer, you can add their name, but then have to click into the name again to edit it to add the rest of the contact details. Seems silly, when it is a new customer and all the details are needed in the first place, why do I have to go back into the contact to edit immediately after adding?

I find myself using the app as little as possible now, where I used to logon all the time to check things. Now I avoid using it because it frustrates me every time. So much so that I am giving a review!

Thank you for your feedback. We are evaluating options to iterate the Outstanding invoices view accessible from the Dashboard. Please note that you can still view a full list of all of the invoices in the main Sales section of the app. There is also a search bar there to focus on specific invoice(s). You can create net new contact records in the Contacts section of the app with all of the relevant contact information (not just name). We recommend that you do that there so that your new contacts are always ready in the future when you want to create accounting documents assigned to them. That said, if you try to create a net new contact record at the same time as creating a new accounting document (invoice, quote, purchase order, etc.), then yes we only ask for the contact's name in such scenario in order for you to create the accounting document as quickly as possible.
  • Great platform, weak mobile app!

Invoices sent from mobile have the annoying “pay now” in the subject which comes across too demanding. On the desktop we can turn this off, but invoices sent from the mobile app still have this, and currently there seems to be no way to turn the rude PAY NOW text as thats the first thing the customer sees.
Many people have raised this issue and there seem to be many threads and discussions suggesting how bad/greedy this makes our business look. The world is mobile these days so xero should adapt. If you cant turn it off, then at least move it to the bottom of the email so it’s not the first thing the customer sees. I have had many customers reach out to me and say that the email says pay now! But the due date is in 2 weeks. Come on guys!
