  • GetAround Paris becomes Florida Only?

    I recently used this app to rent a car for a trip to Europe. I planned to use it again for a second trip I have in a few weeks but suddenly this app is only available in Florida and now I have to scramble to find another rental service last minute. I have no idea how a European rental app becomes a Florida only app but it’s extremely frustrating and confusing. My last rental in Europe is even still listed in my history so I know for sure this is still the same app.

    Hello, Thank you for your feedback, we're really sorry about this confusion! The Getaround app still functions as Getaround Europe, however after recently launching as a global app in the US serving our customers in Florida, anyone who has their app language set to en_US will see Getaround Florida as the app name. Rest assured, the app can still be used to book your rentals in Europe.
  • Getting around with Getaround

    Nice car, well looked after. Easy to drive.
    App is more problematic. Slow to respond, rather cumbersome. We had to wait a long time for the car to unlock. We completed all the steps to finish the rental with all boxes ticked, photographs accepted etc., but the app is still telling me that something is outstanding? It doesn’t say what and I can’t see anything. Annoying to say the least.
    I applaud the idea of getting more cars off the road by sharing but, guys, you have to make it simpler and quicker.

  • Getaround are dishonest and dangerous. Stay away

    The owner claimed two damages I did not make to the car. One exterior and one interior Getaround charged my car for both of them. When I sent them my video of the car before they rented it and explained the owner was lying to save on his insurance costs, they reversed the charge of the external damage but because I did not video the interior of the car they still charged me for that - despite my proof that the owner was lying

  • Not worth it

    I used to rent a car Thru orbitz or Expedia and rent regular car rental from Avis , Hertz,Budget etc..
    I realized that with Getaround, when u add on extra insurance It is basically the same price than regular car rental except with Avis or Budget ,cars are in great condition low mileage and are not beat up .
    Also Avis Budget and other car rental will
    Never penalize you for a scratch less than 2 “.
    I got charged 500 euros for a scratch that was probably due to a parked car door next to me ! I found that outrageous for a 8 years old car with over 100,000 kms . I will cancel my account with Getaround

  • Money making machine

    I have a small fleet of 6 cars … boom making 3400euros a month
  • Bad.

    The hardest part was the total absence of any updates whatsoever. Made the 24hr wait!!! very painful. With no updates we traveled to pick up the car, for which we were charged immediately. Locked out, we had given up waiting in proverbial darkness, when we finally got the notice the car was accessible to us; we were on a bus back home then had to get off and go back. We had booked yesterday and were charged at 16:30, with a notice that access might take 2hrs. But 7 hrs later, at 23:15 we received this note: “ Hi. Hopefully it won’t be too long normally only a few hours. 🤞🏼”. At 11:30am the next day, we received this note: “Hi. This is a pain. I’m really sorry. But as I explained there is absolutely nothing I can do to help, nothing, this is just as annoying for me as you will leave this situation with a bad experience!!”

  • Refund insurance and policy

    I used to rent from Getaround a lot of times I thought was easier from the app and quickly. Until one day I had an accident during my rental, I called the police and the other driver accepted his fault, the police gave me a reference from the accident and I passed on gateround. The gateround contacted me and they asked me to pay £1000 access of my minimum protection and they would refund me letter when they would got it from the other insurance. It has been passed 3 year I have contacted them many times, I was emailing them every week about my case and they didn’t take me seriously and never refund my money back . On their policy they said in case of accident and wasn’t your fault and they would refund you all the money but they never did not. They just said that they can’t find the other driver’s insurance because was with Romanian number plates. Now I will appeal them to the court trying to get my money back because I can’t go to Romania to find the insurance for them.

If they conclude that you were not responsible for causing the damage(s), you will have nothing to pay. In the event of an accident with a third party for which you are not responsible, the deductible (according to the protection plan purchased) will be applied at first. It will be reimbursed to you as soon as our insurance confirms that you are not responsible or once the third party has accepted the recourse made against them. In the event of an accident with an unidentified third party, you will be held responsible for the damage(s).   • Worst company ever to rent a car from

    I followed all of the instructions, uploaded my license and passport and kept getting messages about uploading a visa that doesn’t exist. I messaged the company twice before starting the trip and never received an answer.
    When arriving at the location to pick up the car at night, nobody was able to help me and it took over two hours standing on the side of the road in the rain to gain access to the car.
    Not to mention I was in a foreign country stranded on the side of the road.
    A representative from London finally called me on my personal phone which caused me to incur international charges , which I am not being reimbursed for. At the end of the ordeal I was told sorry we can’t help you everyone has left for the day and the only thing we can do is give you your money back. Luckily at that precise moment I received a message on the app saying the car was unlocked and we were able to gain access after all,.

  • Thieves

    Our rental car got hit while parked in Munich, so we got the other drivers contact information and a police report, and filed the accident with Getaround. Getaround website states that you will not lose your deductible if another driver is at-fault in an accident, but guess what? We lost our entire deductible. Getaround claims that because we did not get the at-fault driver to sign the form in our glovebox, we forfeit our deductible.

    So good luck to anyone who gets in an accident, if you don’t force the other driver to sign the glovebox form you will be at fault no matter what.
