  • Latest update broke system again.

Can’t sign in, reset password link doesn’t work, no reply from support email or twitter. I give up now. Great concept, no support whatsoever.

Every update breaks something, today I’m walking 6000mph and starts and ends at 6 miles distance. Totally beyond a joke - do they test anything? Before last update was great and worked well, since last update when app crashes (which is at least 4 times a day) it loses all your miles that you had accumulated, previously when it resprung it kept all data. Have emailed support and not even had any response. Shame as this was a great app, but now is a buggy mess.

  • Why on earth would they stop showing partial miles?!?

I have loved, used, bought merch from & shared this app for years and years, but each time they update it they seem to make the UX harder and take more features away. Now while I’m walking I can’t track exactly how far I’ve gone until I’m finished, so I need to use an additional app to see how far I’ve actually gone during the walk to know when to turn, etc. Such a bummer but I think that’s finally the last straw and I’ll just make my donations directly to the charities now. I’ll check back in a few months to see if they’ve improved. Used to LOVE this app, such a great concept.

  • I like it, but one thing

I like this app, and I have used it for a few years now, and have told other people about it. The one thing I don’t like is that it will say I’ve stopped walking, when I have not. I really don’t see the need for it to tell me that anyway. Weather I’m walking around my house or at work, I’m still walking but not all of the time. It even dose it when I’m walking on some trails or around the neighborhood. I have to constantly check it to make sure it hasn’t shut off. It’s ver frustrating.

  • Great except when it doesn’t count my miles.

I love Charity Miles. It’s an awesome concept. I always use “Indoor Walk” because I found it really drained my battery on “Outdoor Walk”. I start it every morning and close it at night. Most days it works fine. But there are times (most often after a long run) where I go to look to see how many miles I have and I still is showing 0.00. Quite frustrating to think of all the miles (and thus money for my selected charity) that have been lost. It’s been happening more frequently. Lost 20 miles one recent weekend and 13.1 another.

I have never written a review which makes this truly special... I am always looking for options to make healthy choices and to share them with my clients for my business Patti Asman - The Power of You! I always try things out myself before I ask my clients to... I truly love this app... I set it first thing in the morning as I walk my dog and than will keep it going (making sure I pause it as I am driving) and restart it as I walk during my day at work. I have always believed in the win/win philosophy... now big companies can help to give back to our community by all of us helping each other by donating to numerous organizations ... just by exercising, walking, bike riding, running... all of us regardless of age can help make a difference for others! My business with my complete wellness package can now be even more affective for people's health by using and sharing the Charity Miles app.... I'm so excited! It's time to take healthy back!❤

  • Autism Speaks

Autism Speaks is a despicable group who advocates for the eradication of Autism rather than actually helping individuals with autism. How dare you work with such a disgusting organisation when there are so many other positive autism groups that do real good and include those that they are advocating for rather than deciding what is best for them in a way that I can only equate to eugenics. Do your research and do better.

  • Inconsistent recently: location issues

I’ve been using this app for years. I love it, and I love the idea behind it. In the past month or so, however, it continually asks me to turn on location Always instead of just While Using App. I don’t want it to know my location Always. So now it often records only a portion of the miles I have walked.
Five years ago, the app worked fine without knowing my location Always. Why has it been updated so that it no longer works in this way?

  • Don’t know what happened!

I’d like to begin by saying what a pleasure it is to be able to contribute towards the improvement of other lives by enjoying one of my favorite hobbies! I have hardly had any issues with this app in the past but, for some reason today I logged in and places the phone in my pocket while I was running and for some odd reason only register a small fraction of the distance I ran. Maybe it could be that we users need to ensure the app remains open as it is unable to run on the background (I have an iPhone) while we are using it! Good look and cheers to all of you great souls !

  • Do yourself a favor and download this app

Unless you’re extremely fortunate, you likely know someone who would benefit from one of these charities.

If you’re not an avid runner but you’d like to be, heres your motivation: a large corporate entity (think Johnson & Johnson, Verizon, etc) sponsors your run, meaning they donate based on the miles you run for the charity you select. Hurricane recently wrecked an area you love? Habitat for Humanity is there. Want to help hungry families get through the pandemic? Got you covered. Lose your dad to a glioblastoma like me and Meghan McCain? Stand Up To Cancer loves your miles.

I leaned into running a lot when I lost my dad three years ago. The grief was just too big and running gave me whatever I needed at the moment: time to process, a quiet space to grieve, a distraction when it was too much. Charity Miles helps me feel like I’m giving back. And sure, these corporations could afford to donate thousands more than what I can run, but this gives me more purpose.

That’s my sob story. Everybody’s got one. If you are looking for a kind, loving community to get you started on your journey, Charity Miles has you covered there too. Honestly, you could do worse.
