All I got was an email stating they reset my password and unconnected my Facebook connection 3 weeks after I reached out. It says my login is successful but it still won’t let me into my account. This has been the worst experience ever and I really need to talk to my coach. Not sure when I’ll get a response since the first response took so long.

I have been trying to get back into my account since I got a new phone and I can’t access it at all. I keep getting told that my “email is already associated with an account, please try signing in with a social account, or use another email.” I try using social and it says that I already have an account and to sign in. It takes me back to the main screen to login. Only option for help is sending an email and it can take 5 days for a response. I use this app through my employer and plan on letting them know this horrible experience. Nothing is worse than knowing you can’t even reach out to your coach and let them know your frustration. I am going to miss my next session because I got a new phone and it doesn’t allow you to login at all.

  • Great Coaching. Infuriating Lack of Rotation Support.

First off, love my coach. Working with her has been great. If you’re looking for help and messaging sounds like a good option, get the help you need and ignore my review.

But, it’s an App Store. Let’s talk about this App. Y’all this is a digital experience wherein you type long-form content back and forth rapidly within an hour time limit. You absolutely need a keyboard for this experience to be effective. There is no rotation support on the iPad app. This means that if you put your iPad on any folio case that Apple and 3rd Party manufacturers have made for the last decade, you’ll have a terrible experience, because all of them prop the iPad up in Landscape Orientation, and this app is stubbornly locked to Portrait Orientation. There are literally zero keyboard cases that allow this app to work for iPad because all of them set the iPad up in Landscape Orientation. What you have to do right now to use a keyboard with this app is get an old standalone Bluetooth keyboard and prop your iPad up on something in Portrait Orientation. Every time my iPad slips down my water bottle, I curse the Product Manager that omitted rotation from the MVP. Please for the love of all that is holy, either support rotation, or nix the iPad app completely.

  • Crazy train

Ginger could not determine my eligibility then said it had an engineering problem then said I could get some coaching then kept asking formoney then they said I didn’t need to pay just contact the coach but the coach said I have an insurance issue .. which I don’t. While denying me service they contact the insurance company and get money for intake but took me into nothing and say I don’t have insurance they can’t help me. Then they abruptly decided I do. Finally I got the coach. The person is rarely online. Says off line during the office hours. Then I make contact. She says I need to have coaching goals. I don’t know what this means so she says if you don’t have the goals I can’t help you. Then she’s go s again offline. I ask another coach and I cannot find out. The second coach says I’m playing games i need an appt he says I say how can I get the appt? This is not answered. In his profile he touts himself as empathetic while texting messages that are aggressive and unkind. He booted me off platform and now I have no coaching but then again he has saved me since for 9 weeks there was no coaching not anything that would barely resemble it. Each contact was used to reject me and hurt me. This company seems to be geared to using patient names to get money from insurance contract while trashing the patient/customer whose name is used ti get the company money.

  • More Stress

The app itself is relatively user friendly. But I did not have a good experience. The “Coaches” never had anything helpful, they would ask me what I thought I needed to work on, and then repeat it back to me, and that I should “work on incorporating that”. But why i’m finally deleting the app is because of the “cancellation fee” I received when I rescheduled 24 hours before hand. I was out of state due to a family emergency, and when I realized I would be in a car full of people during my scheduled therapy session, I immediately rescheduled. It did not go too into detail about the charge I would accrue by rescheduling, so I went ahead and did it. Things do happen, people take advantage of cancellation when other patients could have been using that time. I understand that. But this was my first reschedule in a situation I couldn’t change. As a young working student just trying to juggle life and bills, this caused more damage than the good the session could have done for me. If the pop up after selecting “reschedule” told me the charge clear cut, I would have just dealt with being in the car with other people. But who knows, they may have cancelled it on me and charged me anyways!

  • Feels distant and routinized

I came to Ginger to try to find therapy. My employer offers Ginger services as a benefit. I love the idea, but it just isn’t working out. The process is clunky and I have trouble figuring out basic info, like when my next appointment is. For instance, there is no Appointments tab or anything like that. There is no way to connect to the therapist directly, even to confirm an appointment. I cannot log on to a website, only access my info through the app. I just can’t seem to find useful information about the care I’m receiving. However, I do get regular push notifications asking me to fill out surveys about my mood and asking for repeated assessments of my therapist. I feel like an over-surveyed customer who is not getting much actual therapy. The app and website also feel highly controlled so that the patient/client cannot access meaningful information. I know it will take time to find a local therapist, but I think it might be less frustrating in the end.

  • Poorly designed mental health assistance.

All around I am upset with my Ginger experience. I had to transition from TalkSpace to Ginger with a change of insurance and was extremely disappointed. As someone who has had multiple years of experience in therapy due to many traumas, I will say this was one of the worst of communication techniques as you cannot reach out to your therapist in any way and the system is designed to charge you immediately even if a work crisis arises if you miss one session. In the design there is a “coach”, memsership services, and the opportunity to meet with a psychologist. As someone who prefers to only have face to face meetings, I did not use the coach much. In regards to my therapist, the individual herself was great at her job but due to scheduling conflicts she cancelled on me often and changed my times without my consensus due to inability to communicate with the app design. I ended up getting charged an extra 135 after she changed my appointment without my consensus which all around frustrated me with the app- my money was never refunded but rather recharged again. I attempted to continue despite the disappointment but continued to be let down with my therapist cancelling on me another 2 times in a row. The site then canceled my services due to “inconsistency with therapy.”
I would recommend utilizing any other app.

  • Yes please.

My highest recommendation. I’m stunned by how effective my Ginger experience is. I’ve moved through what felt like intractable limitations in weeks. Weeks! Who would have thought something called emotional wellness coaching in text format would not just work, but work better for me than 1) very expensive in-person therapy 2) very expensive in-person personal coaching and 3) a gazillion self-help books. Clarity, confidence, self compassion, and positive action. I’m right now living one of my dreams of extended solo travel thanks in large part to Ginger. My coach is superb. Very skilled at recognizing what become the catalyst points and subtly drawing the next right move from me. I call it my coaching trebuchet. Brilliant.

  • Complete scam

Dont waste your time with this app. They have you fill out a bunch of personal info and ask a bunch of personal questions then tell you if you want help from them you need to give credit card info. Even though my insurance company told me that this is at no cost to me. So either my insurance company is lying or ginger is. Then they keep all that personal info for 10 years. I didnt give my cc so i was never given an appointment with a dr so i cant comment on anything further but look at the other reviews and make up your own mind. There are plenty of other options out there and i know this seems like an easy one because you dont have to leave your home but i have enough stress and anxiety i dont need the extra worry of someone being able to charge me for something i was told was free to me. I could care less about the 5 star reviews on anything i only ever look at the negative reviews because i feel thats where you get the most info. Anyone who reads this i hope you get the treatment you need and deserve i just dont think you will find it here

  • I love Ginger

I downloaded the Ginger app in December and it’s been one of the best things I could have done for myself while I was going through a rough time. I’ve found Ginger to be immensely helpful. I have benefited greatly from video chats with my therapist and being able to access the coaches anytime, day or night is one of my favorite features of the app. I once woke up crying at 4am and I was able to talk to a coach right away and she helped me to get back to a calm headspace. Having that kind of access to help, anytime, anywhere is so life changing. I also enjoy all the helpful articles that my coaches send me. The other short study materials offered in the app are also quick and easy to read and are also very enjoyable.

  • Quality coaches (mostly) and resources

I have to be honest, when I first started using Ginger I wasn’t paired with a coach that was a good match for me. I felt like she wasn’t engaged and invested in my progress. Then, I requested a new coach and was matched with someone who was perfect! If there are other coaches that are like her, then ginger provides excellent coaches. I also appreciate the short, reading, material articles, and the check in to see how I’m progressing. Even though my subscription through my healthcare provider will expire soon, I’ve found this resource incredibly valuable, and I’ve made significant progress.
