  • A Good App but

I travel a lot and I think this is one of the best 2 Mags I carry with me. However, downloads are a pain. On a fast stable internet connection no problem. In many locations however you seem to get to 90-95% before getting the failure message and a 'Hint' to ensure a stable internet connection. However, the fact that non of my other Apps have this problem seems to 'Hint' to me that the problem is the Bauer App not my Internet!

  • Terrible update

(Further update for latest version) No real changes noted apart from the loss of ability to read in portrait mode any more.

(Original review follows) When this update was released, no mention was made that not only did you have to download any issues you had on your iPad again, but you had no idea which ones they were and you lost all your bookmarks.

If you had half a dozen issues still to finish reading, there was no advice that you should note which ones they were and where you were up to in each as otherwise the publishers can't help you.

I'd be happy with the old app instead of this sort of experience. To say I was unimpressed (and downright angry) was a understatement.

Awful behavior. Response from publisher was very dismissive - attitude of "we know more than you" even though bookmarks are a significant downgrade from previous.

  • Really poor implementation

I totally agree with the previous reviewer regarding loss of issues etc. Worse still is the incredible increase in size of the new issues. The current issue indicates 1187mb in size. That is absurd as a download size on a small device. My device and I suspect a lot of others have not got that space lying around. I don't intend buying a new iPad for the privilege of downloading this. I now have 6 months of unusable subscription left. Sad to say that I am an unlikely renewer.

  • App is crap.

Best content on earth, but the new update is crap. Lots of problems, can't seem to download properly. Won't restore old issues. How do I cancel my overpriced subscription?
  • Great App!

The previous version of this app took up far too much space on my device. This version corrects that and now that a few subtle improvements have been made it is a great app, on par with any I have tried.
  • On line subscription rubbish

This app worked for a while but after snips update it stopped. Despite numerous efforts and advice from the publisher nothing has worked. If I could give it zero stars I would.
  • Like The Digital Format

Glad you have kept it with Motor Trend and Car & Driver going to the PDF format.
  • Car mag app is worth it

Like the car mag app. All the beauty of the print without having a stack of previous issues lying about the room.
It's missing two BIG features: way more video content and a way to increase font size and tap to zoom on photos. Fonts are too small.
  • The slowest loading Magazine App

I LOVE the magazine, but the App in Newsstand subscription is the absolute slowest loading Magazine subscription I have, by FAR. Other magazines I subscribe to of similar size and content come down to my iPad in say 3 or 4 minutes, incl video content. Car magazine will take 15-20 minutes. It is so slow, it is absolutely infuriating. Do something, please.

  • Love and hate

For 25 years I have loved the writing, and loved the photos (though there aren't enough of them) but you guys have so over-done the complexity of reading the e-mag, it has ensured that EVERY issue has paragraphs missing... often the last paragraph, so we miss out on a conclusion!
Scrolling sections that don't scroll, lateral scrolling indicators on pictures that don't work (NXS this issue) pictures of a Cayman when an M2 should be there...
I'm not sure why you introduce such complexity to the experience, because I'm sure no reader asked you to make us slide right, up, across etc etc just to read an artlicle.
I read a lot of motoring e-magazines, and very rarely do they have any failures... because they are simple! They also allow zoom so I can enjoy a closer look at a designers subtle panel surfacing, or gain clarity from a complex engine illustration (e.g. The new 911 turbo motor).. I can't believe you don't offer this, when it's such a fundamental iPad feature.
I will continue to buy the e-mag because I like the content, but if you can't manage the failure rate, please please introduce the KISS principle asap!
PS I have a very recent iPad Air on the latest iOS update, so it's unlikely to be my hardware or software
